My home room teacher back around 1971 made the mistake of asking our class "Does anyone know who Jeremiah was?" She clearly expected a Bible reference, so she clutched her pearls (literally!) when one of the boys screamed out "JEREMIAH WAS A BULLFROG!!" and we fell out of our desks laughing. Poor woman thought we had all lost our minds lol.😂
That is hilarious!
Hilarious and then some. I've occasionally had some of my teachers and entire classrooms roar with laughter from time to time.
This song came out the year following my birth, and I never heard it until I was 13. I watched it get performed at a karaoke bar when I was in my mid-to-late-twenties. Despite having heard it only a few times, I find it SO memorable. Especially THIS video.
I remember in my orchestra class my teacher gave us the sheet music for Joy To The World to learn on. We also played it as a medly following Proud Mary by CCR.
Being named Jeremiah. When I was doing ap studies in college and had to attend different religious locations in Dallas a megachurch with like 12000 people had me come up the the stage while the leader had them all song this song to me. At the time I was shy and turned bright red. Bit after that I just have to laugh when I hear it lol
@Tawroset, I laughed when I saw this! It made my day! Thanks!
my mom was singing this in the car but only remembered “jeremiah was a bullfrog” so i looked it up and my lord i never saw her smile so much
This song is what I think of when I'm happy, OR it also makes me happy if I hear it. Win win! 🥂😆
❤
My brother is name Jeremiah
Hahaaaa. Thanks for sharing!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
❤ bless you child
I grew up in the 1970s. I won't trade that for any decade or any other way of life.
Sang this in school and not one parent complained lol our generation was the best!
Yes.!! It is.
My choir teacher at a Christian school taught us this song when I was in the first grade. 😂 I think she edited it or something because I wasn’t aware of some of the lyrics until my husband and I were having a conversation decades later.
The parents who complain now are from the previous generation, saying that the younger generation is the problem doesn't make any sense because it would be their parents that are complaining which is the generation before the children. It's not the kids fault that they have bad parents from the older generation.
was a senior in 1971 and friend who is no longer on the planet would come to school at
least once a month with a bottle of wine and we drink it behind the gym, thus sing always brings him alive for me
Growing up as a kid in a nebraska farm this song was introduced to me in the 70s by two older sisters who absolutely loved Three dog Night.
Growing up was so much easier than it is now
A boy I met in school (6th grade-of 1971). Found he was 23 hours older then me. (Homeroom 6-19) Taylor, mi.
Break Junior High School.
He brought his guitar to school and I was writing or drawing something for I had my head looking down of what was on my desk. Then, I heard this boy strummed on his guitar.. (this song). I looked up. He smiled and winked his eye at me, I winked & smiled back. l quickly looked down and not let his smile and wink was for me. We were in being at an awarkward age and kids can be cruel in teasting.
That we kept our friendship quiet. I'm married for 44 years but not to him.. he died at a young age of 54 back in 2013.
I'm 63 now.. every year I play this song in memory of him.
RIP TCW.. my first boyfriend.
Thank you for sharing, Therese. you’re comment had my girlfriend tearing up. best of luck to you - and a lifetime of happiness
A beutiful story, reminds me of Jack and the Titanic
😢😊❤
What a beautiful memory.
RIP Hoyt Axton
Brings Back Childhood Memories !!! ❤❤❤❤
I had my very first date and kiss to this song... SWEET INNOCENCE...
We walked to a soda shop, played pinball, had a soda and his big brother drove us to take me home by 8:30pm. I was 14 and it was a school night... I was surprised he asked me out and that my MOM said I could. He was sweet.
Wholesome
Lord have mercy, that sure brings back memories.
Wow!!! I loved that 💚 🐸🐸💚
People named Jeremiah where you at?
Im here in memory of a family member 🙏❤️
My father was a musician and he always sang this song and all the kids loved it! He's gone now but it's songs like this that make me think of him and smile 😁

Was a Junior in HS. 17 y.o. Oh, those days!
My son, Karl, turned 3 early in 1971. He loved this song and would sing along with it when we were driving. Karl, unlike me, had a good voice and would mostly stay on key.

RUclips has eliminated all dislikes from all videos now. Everything is now liked as part of their censorship campaign. I realize you can't please everyone but this is just wrong.

I work with attorneys and one of them is named Jeremiah. This song is his hold music. Always makes me smile.
Is one of the attorneys there Saul Goodman?
This is in memory to a colleague who passed away last night after a short battle with cancer. Rest in in peace Steve, you will be missed so much - I hope heaven appreciates your fantastic jokes as much as we did. Jeremiah was a bullfrog :) RIP.....xxx
The 60's were great.
Always takes me back to the early 70's and dancing and singing to this song😊
11/14/22 This makes me feel soooo happy. I remember when this was on the radio when i was a kid. So much happy memories of that time.
This video is one of the most 2007 things I've ever seen. In a good away.
So funny, I’m homeschooling my granddaughter and we were doing these Backpack nature books. We were doing the Nature Trail book and came to the part on frogs! Bullfrogs we’re on the list and I started singing “Jeremiah was a bullfrog” but didn’t remember all the verses so to entertain my granddaughter I played the song for her and sang along! Still love it!❤❤😅
I am here for my great grandson Jeremiah
My great grandson is artistic, from Three Dog Night
This song is special to me. My mother played this song all the time, all my life. She died pretty bitter and angry at the world, but I like to remember the shit starting smile she had when she'd tell me about waking up her nanny with "Jeremiah was a bullfrog!"
I'm here because of Chandler Bing.

It was the late 60's. I was just a little kid, went to the church at the end of the road with my sister with little dresses and white gloves on..a different time. Changing times but not brutal or ugly.
Damn, I'm a grandma now in East Tennessee, I miss those days.💝🦁🐑🕊💫
Changing but your nostalgia betrays your imagination for a time that only exists in reflection.
It was 1970-71...and yes there was ugly in the world.
I remember at Charles t young elementary hearing this in kindergarten and 1st grade...🚀
@@serenajo8758 not for innocent little girls going to church on Sunday!
@Aaron Digby do you actually know how to type without your caps lock permanently stuck??!
I was 4 years old in '71. My neighbors and their daughter Wendy, who was my age, drove up in a brand new Cadillac convertible playing this song through a cool, hi-fi 8-track player. Some things are meant to be remembered...
Those were the days man. I was 8
Being the a ge you are, I'll bet you well remember music on AM radio, I was 7 (soon to be 8) when this was ripping up the charts, and hearing it any way at all was a treat!

Awesome song have a great day everyone from Albany, Ny
This has to be one of the happiest, fun songs ever written in popular music! I saw them perform this at the beach in 1996 and everyone was singing and dancing! Peace, BobbyK
Love that animation! Super cute!
How happy was 1971 that this was a number one song.
(Also I'm in the middle of a Friends marathon Season 9, Episode 13 and that's why I'm here.)

#1 on the day I was born. I can live with that!
Brings back great memories as a kid, mother, and 67-year-old grandma.
Theres a bully named jeremiah in my class and my music teacher put this song on and everyone laughed

Did he end up being a good friend of yours and did you drink wine with him? Lol
Being named Jeremiah is punishment in itself lmao
He just needed love

That'll put a smile on anybody on a Tuesday morning.
Thanks!!

Jeremiah was a bullfrog; was a good friend of mine. I never understood a single word he said, but I helped him drink his wine. Yes, he ALWAYS had some mighty fine wine.
Love this song. Cute video. Love the kissing frogs.
This can brighten up anyone's day... so joyful
yeah im n a deep deep dark depression n it made me smile
Awesome song, awesome video. Very well done
First heard this song was back in the 70s when I joined the Navy!
This song was played at my sister's funeral.
One of my favourite songs ever....and absolutely brilliant animation! They really went together so well. It made me smile all the way through. Fabulous x
.
Who else learned this song in elementary by their choir teacher? Only in 🇺🇸
Yes, except the wine part was edited and the verse about loving the ladies was removed. 😆
I learned how to play this song in my high school orchestra. I also played Proud Mary by CCR.
Yea
I learned to dance to this song back in 1970. All through high school my car always had at least three or four of their 8-tracks laying in the seat. And fifty years later I'm going to finally see them live on December 1st...from row 29! Oh hell yeah! 😎
In honor of my brother late birthday he turned 64 ! WAS one his favorite bac in the day
My daddy was singing this when I was a kid and I thought it was another funny song he was making up cuz he made up funny songs all the time...😆 So this will forever make me think of him being silly singing with us riding in the snow on four-wheelers. 😊
Great funny video. Thanks for creating this timeless classic in a newer format. I always liked 3 dog nite and JEREMIAH WAS A BULL FROG.
Who doesn't Still remember all the Word's to This Song?? BTO ROCKS..😎
Jeremiah is my name, and you won't believe how many people have asked me if I have ever heard this song before. It has to be like a million. -_- It gets really annoying when just about everyone asks me about this.
Love the animation..I sang this as a lullaby to my girls and taught them the lyrics. Now I intend to teach it to my grands.
My grandma loved this song and would sing it to me all the time with the biggest, brightest smile. Once I was old enough to remember the words and could sing along her smile would get even bigger and brighter. This one was her favorite and she also LOVED Shortnin' Bread! I’m currently spending time at my ancestor alter communing with my maw maw and OMG I wasn’t at all expecting to end up here lool it’s not that I ever forgot these memories, but a tsunami wave of wildly vivid detail just swept me away and pushed me under into the peaceful bliss I felt in those moments….due to life and whatnot I don’t have the luxury of vividly remembering small moments like this….the trauma has unfortunately almost always taken center stage when I attempt to reminisce.
The normal moments up to the best memories I tend to only be able to remember a vague sense of fond familiarly (ik ik but that’s the easiest way to explain loool) but literally NEVER been hit in this kind of way. My grandma WAS and still IS my person and for the first time in 9 years, 2 months and 23 days….THEE FIRST time in 3,373 days….I didn’t have to “attempt” to remember the details of the moments or even just her voice….I was pushed directly back and fully immersed legit as if it was currently happening.
My grandma always made me swear that when she passed on that if even I was sad that I wouldn’t cry because “we’ll never say goodbye…just see ya later!” and I’ve been surprisingly good at keeping that promise…until this moment. ..
God, I miss the hell out of that woman and I need her right now more than ever, and to experience what led me here is NOTHING LESS than spiritual communion with the one person I’ve always known would show up and cover me in unconditional love through hell and high water. She proved that even more tonight. Even now….she effortlessly crossed the barrier of Death itself JUST to come sit with me and sing along to our song for old times sake. She is quite literally my heaven and stars…I’m honored to know she’d still move them with ease, without a second thought, across time and space JUST for me. I Am Abundant because she was so full of God she overflowed. She baptized me in her Asè intentionally and gently…lovingly…slowly bought me up for air.
Because of Her I know my Egungun. She probably never once heard that word, yet I am ONLY able to truly understand, innerstand, and venerate my Egungun because of the wisdom and “plain ole horse sense” (as she called it) she instilled in me.
An Omoluwabi.
No matter where her religious beliefs stood, she always embodied Iwapele.
Then and now.
Forever and always.
Into infinity and beyond…
It Will Be Just As It Has Always Been. ❤
Don't smoke crystal meth when commenting.
You brought me to tears reading your story. The only reason I am here right now is because I pulled this up to show my granddaughter that the song I was singing earlier today was real. She loves when I do this because I have showed her my things from my childhood. Although I was a teenager when this song was out. Thank you for your story beautifully written. Bless you and her!
My song to my life, since my name is Jeremiah, my family has put this song to my name, ahah :D
Friend is one who you will defend
Friend is one with time you spend
Friend one whom on you depend

Absolutely love this to bits! God bless you all!
Right on! Wow! Me too! What a great memory flash back. Loved it!
My grandpa played this for me when I was little, I miss this song
I had to look this up after Chandler sings it in that episode. Never heard of it before. Not disappointed.
Great hit for Three Dog Night. Rest In Peace Cory Wells.
