I've had this argument with a friend, the Mulan "happy singing, death" whiplash is good for a movie about war. It's the immature "men being idealistic, having some fun with shore leave and such" and then "war is brutal reality."
Its also a power sence, where it goes from "Ya where not men anymore!" to "Oh fuck, this isn't a fucking game no more" What I love about it is there is almost no talking at all. You see the character just looking around, and there looks scary, angry, and sad and it also tell the view "Ya, these guys don't fuck around" It works amazingly
Well, that, and it wasn't just the brutality of war, it was a reminder of just what the Huns were: Barbarians, out for pointless devastation. That was a simple village, that could have been avoided (As one of the Huns outright stated). It was utterly razed for no more reason than pure barbaric sadism, rather than tactical conquest.
Coincidence or not, "A Girl Worth Fighting For" is the last song in the movie until the closing credits roll with "True to Your Heart" and Xtina's cover of "Reflection"
Mulan doing what it did from going from a happy go lucky pallet cleanser song to the war was to let both the audience and characters know that yes a war is actually going on. After that point there are no songs in the movie besides a reprise of "Be a man" towards the end. The focus goes to the war.

Dan Radcliffe's post-HP career has been one of my favourite things ever. Another great thing he was in was Guns Akimbo, a movie he decided he wanted to do after getting to the part in the script where his character has guns bolted to his hands and he realises he needs to take a piss.
Also, am I the only one who gets annoyed of the "angsty older sibling who acts serious because they forget what it's like to have fun and adventure" cliche? It's giving me some Return to Neverland vibes...
With a lot of shows and movies nowadays trying to have an important message or say something deep or be an outlet for someone to express their opinion, I’ve recently rediscovered an appreciation for media that is just… unapologetically weird. Uncle Grandpa, Centaurworld, Smiling Friends, the Knuckles show, etc. How good each of these are varies, but I kind of have a level of respect for something that doesn’t really care if it makes sense or not and just wants to be weird and fun. I might check this movie out at some point.
Aside from being based around an existing toy property it’s not a copy. Great review, Enter, it was nice to see someone giving the movie a fair shake. Honestly, Adam Lambert's role in the movie was the main selling point for me. A hammy villain with a hammy villain song, played by one of my favourite music artists? Sign me up! Then I went to see the movie and I got all that, inside a movie that is both a joy to watch and an absolute trip full of absurd moments. Like, yeah, the main plot is cliche as fuck, but god damn if it ain't an experience I won't soon forget, and hell, the villain song and Rex Dasher's theme tune were stuck in my head for a good few days after I left the cinema, if that tells you anything good about the songs. For your next review Rescue Rangers is fine but as you, and numerous other critics have stated, the villain felt like a last f-ck you to Bobby Driscoll and the cameos felt forced at times.
It's just Americans who wonder what the hell Playmobil is. Europeans knows full well exactly what it is. For a certain generation of Euro kids, it was just as iconic and prevalent as LEGO. Their horse figures are unforgettably awesome.
0:06 that’s one of my favorites as well, my best find has to be a dub of a graphic novel that’s unhinged, dark and trying to be goofy during that while it’s put to acting that’s slightly worse than sonic adventure. The experience was baffling because the tone breaks down and the acting just sounds like they got random people off the street to perform Shakespeare as a drunk guy remembers it.
4:50: Wait? Tito Ortiz is an executive producer for this film? The MMA fighter Tito Ortiz? Okay, that’s even more insane than anything else in this movie.
I was looking for a comment like this. The Goosebumps movie is honestly amazing. A beautiful love letter AND a clever deconstruction of the Goosebumps franchise. The original 62 books are sacred to me. Plus, when that movie came out, my dog, Molly, was scheduled to be put down on Back to the Future Day (yeah I know, such a grim way to celebrate such a beautiful day like that), and I was feeling miserable at that time because my family and I had Molly since I turned 9 years old in 2006, and saying goodbye to Molly was going to kill me inside. So, seeing the Goosebumps movie with my favorite Aunt, Anne-Marie (who had been a HUGE help in getting me to collect all 62 Goosebumps books in the original series, got me to meet R.L. Stine himself and who has passed away in April of last year), was comforting for me in a time where I was dreading something awful to happen. I absolutely ADORE the Goosebumps franchise, so the first movie is very important to me in many ways.

I’ve seen weirder movies that I am baffled even exists at all. Like Monsturd, which is an actual movie about a man who becomes a Killer Poop Monster who comes out of toilets and kills people. And Killer Sofa, which was about a person getting a sofa that’s possessed by a demon and kills people. And The Drone, which was about the ghost of a killer possessing a drone and continuing his murders. And Llamageddon, where an alien Llama with heat vision and super strength comes to Earth and goes on a killing spree. And VelociPastor, where a priest gains an artifact that allows him to turn into a Velociraptor and uses his powers to fight Ninjas. And Shark Exorcist, where a woman gets possessed by a demon shark and starts eating people. And Evil Bong, which was about a demonic bong trying to take over the world with her weed powers (and had several sequels. Even more baffling). So yeah. I’ve seen weirder.
19:31 to this day it’s still baffling how The Lorax had Zac Efron and Taylor Swift as the two main characters (or at least were marketed as them) in a musical and NOT have them sing once. Even Danny Devito almost sang in Biggering
Here are some ideas for how I would rewrite the movie. I would add an uncle (Who shall be named Stan and played by Paul Rudd) and aunt character. So, while they take care of Charlie due to him getting sick, the parents are taking Marla to airport for her gap year. But there's a car crash and Marla is the only survivor. Since then, she has taken a no risk lifestyle which borders on paranoia (even to the point of throwing out milk 3 days before the expiration date). In addition, she has become overly protective of her brother. Eventually the family holds an intervention. Stan even overs to pay for trip for the gap year. Marla refuses to, an argument breaks out between the siblings. So, Stan takes Charle toy museum (Stan works as a security cop there) to see the new Playmobil exhibit. Marla follows and scolds Stan for taking him out. Stan having enough of his niece's behavior stating that she can't let fear rule her life. Then Marla, Charle and Stan are transported into the Playmobil world. Over the adventures in the Playmobil world, Marla and Stan reconcile. Stan even saves Marla from the Fairy Godmother (who wants to brain wash Marla into a Perfect daughter). At the same time, Charlie learns to be more careful.
I can tell half of these commenters haven't watched the video since there's so many comments about it being a Lego Movie ripoff when Mr. Enter makes the point that it's anything but.
Works that have batshit insane summaries often tend to be some of the best - or at least, the most fun. Anime is good for these. Guy brings a bunch of celebrities and also his old friend from high school back from the dead to form an idol group to save the Saga Prefecture's dying tourist industry. Girl gets turned into a spider and decides to min-max her way into becoming the very best spider she can be. Guy is stabbed by a classmate and discovers that he has all the powers of Santa Claus, which include being immune to fire, lie detection, and growing ski blades out of his feet.
Compared to the 2 animated movies that were based on toylines with poor reception, the Playmobil Movie was...not good as I actually prefer Uglydolls over it as that was actually pretty underrated while many said how it was more of a Trolls clone but it managed to be different instead of how the Playmobil Movie was as it is kinda confusing compared to how The LEGO Movie did it pretty well on the story and even on the sequel. And oh yeah, Toys R Us is now a part of Macy's as it has been saved. Yet Kmart is still alive with 2 locations left in the US 💀
Dasher is amazing because Daniel Radcliffe is an insanely great actor. He always puts his all into every performance I've seen from him. The Woman in Black is 1 of my most favorite horror films.
I was obsessed with Playmobil as a kid. I had so many complete sets it wasn't even funny. And I couldn't imagine a movie being any good. The funny thing is that the viking sets were always my favorite
the chaotic nature of the movie I suppose is meant to reflect they were beamed down into the greater exhibition set of Playmobil? Like the Western-Highway-Viking-Roman Empire-Pirate-Soviet Russia playsets were just next to each other and this is the world that exists mixing into each other.
I haven't seen the entire movie, but I just find something comforting about it. Also, I like a few of the songs, "Give the People What They Want" is a genuinely good song.
Adam Lambert playing Emperor Maximus was the only reason I watched the film. From the moment I heard he was gonna be in it. This was mostly because I used to listen to his music a lot as a teen and still do to this very day. In fact, I'd even say that the only two musical numbers I liked were the villain song and that fun pop song they had the fairy Meghan Trainor sing. The other songs, I kinda had mixed feelings on 'em. I wouldn't say they are bad but they sure as hell ain't gonna top bangers from animated films that released in 2019 like "Peace is Nice" or "Catchy Song" thats for sure.
You mean StudioCanal? I know they also made the Paddington movies, the Shaun the Sheep movies, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and the original Rambo Trilogy.
Rex Dasher's character reminded me of Will Smith's character from Spies in Disguise...it would have been cool to see more of him instead of what the final product was

Remember when Mega Bloks Dragons got two direct to video movies? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
I think Playmobile had animated shorts before the movie came out.
@@newguy371
Animated shorts and a 2 season tv series.
To be fair she'd have to get a new passport anyway because that ones clearly expired.
Also, I had that robot back in the late 80s and very early 90s. It was awesome too.
"NOTHING HERE IS EVEN ILLEGAL" 😳
"No, I'm not going to explain to you why there are multicolored pegasi. Uh...blame Rainbow Dash"
⬆️ That was funnier than any of the jokes in this movie! 😂
That thumbnail has me really worried about what I'm about to see.
Me too.
I mean, Playmobil is a pretty big thing here in Europe.
I keep forgetting playmobile was an actual thing
Good.
I remember _Musical Hell_ did a review of this and they sued her for copyright so she made another review with Playmobil figures acting out the scenes.
I only remember these toys because I still see them in charity stores, even the one I volunteer in lmaooo
Me too.
At the daycare I work at there are a few random playmobil toys in our Lego bins. The kids (2year olds) are always asking me wheee to put them because they aren’t Legos lol
What's even crazier is that this movie came out the exact same as the Lego Movie 2 and even though both did poorly at the box office I think will still watch the Lego Movie 2 over this.
There was this show that was made to celebrate the playmobile 40th anniversary. i think it was called super 4, and it was actually pretty good, based on 4 of the most popular sets, pirates, fantasy medieval and future
And Adam Lambert later was in Megamind 2. WHY?
don't know.
He least he made a banger theme song
Why not?
I still find it funny that Porsche actually decided to advertise their new electric Taycan in this movie (it's featured on the movie poster on some of them) when they've had a long working history with LEGO. I have several LEGO Porsches in my closet right now.
I love how it's been 10 years, and DW slamming her door is still the funniest joke on this channel
5:47 this hits different when it’s real normal people and not an animated thing that’s put distance between itself and reality.
Dan Radcliffe's post-HP career has been one of my favourite things ever. Another great thing he was in was Guns Akimbo, a movie he decided he wanted to do after getting to the part in the script where his character has guns bolted to his hands and he realises he needs to take a piss.
Saberspark: The tickets were 5 dollars!
0:32 Ironically, a Battleship Movie would be a better movie than a Playmobil Movie.
At least Battleship was a fun game.
There was a battleship movie
@@reptile1687 there's a battleship movie
@@viviennemorgan7217 yes i know
@@reptile1687 i didn't know that and what's next the long awaited minecraft movie is coming next summer.
Also, am I the only one who gets annoyed of the "angsty older sibling who acts serious because they forget what it's like to have fun and adventure" cliche? It's giving me some Return to Neverland vibes...
That was the first movie I thought of with this.
0:01 Bro it's you
Rex Dasher is a poor man’s Chase McCain
Chase McCain. Best Lego game protagonist.
This film could have worked if they didn't just try to copy The Lego movie
Aside from being based around an existing toy property it’s not a copy. The plots are different, LM having the human world being the twist and the Lego world’s conflict reflecting that of human father and son through the minifig avatars of Lord Business and Emmett. PM is an isekei where two real world people are zapped into a playmobil world because plot.
Actually, Mr Enter, Toys R Us still exist in Canada. It’s only a small section in strip malls but it’s something!
I've seen it outside of malls in Canada.
It also still exists in a section of macys
Apparently, Sony was originally going to make this movie but the director decided to put his focus more on spider verse and later on, Sony lost the rights and we later got this
7:55 True, but the word "Lego" is never mentioned in The Lego Movie either. I don't think any of the Lego movies mention it.
With the lead being played by Anya Taylor-Joy I can't stop hearing Princess Peach from the Mario Movie every time she speaks.
5:32 "The song ends and then the police show up, and we learn that Marla's parents are dead."
Me: Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
The fact that Enter didn't even have to write this joke. It was just served up to him on a silver plater.
That line legit almost gave me a heart attack.
Nobody knew The Lego movie would have live action either.
6:11 speaking of Milan kind of neat that after that point the movie doesn't have any more music numbers because after that event things got serious
4:50:
Wait? Tito Ortiz is an executive producer for this film? The MMA fighter Tito Ortiz? Okay, that’s even more insane than anything else in this movie.
1:07 I don’t know, I liked the First Goosebumps Movie.
I thought it was pretty good.
It was fine, albeit forgettable to me. I loved the cameo from the real R. L. Stine at the end, though.
The sequel is awful, though
I remember not hearing about this movie until a week after its release and I’m just glad I grew up on the Lego movie not this crap
5:06 "She danced like no-one was watching, but people were watching and she looked like a twat"
Romesh Ranganathan, Mock The Week, Unlikely Things To Hear In A Romantic Novel
Megamind 2 review when?
Funny you should ask because Adam lambert also voices Machiavellian in Megamind Rulez.
I forgot this movie existed
Same.
Finally, a full length review of this movie that wasn't taken down by the copyright bots 🎉
Agree 100%
Ending song is Gex: Enter the Gecko - In Drag Net
Watching this before it goes the way of Musical Hell’s review of this movie.
You just made me all look for my long ago Unikitty lego that has been probably hidden in my room since then
Recently, I watched through Anya Taylor-Joy’s entire filmography. This was the one film I was dreading to get to and it was just as bad as I expected
It's so sad because Playmobil is actually a nice franchise (my fellow German kids will know how nostalgic it is)
At least Food Fight is so bad, it’s so good to watch.
Heads up enter: The company behind this dumpsterfire abuse the copyright system.
You mean StudioCanal? I know they also made the Paddington movies, the Shaun the Sheep movies, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and the original Rambo Trilogy.
The first thing I think about when I think about playmoble are those Indy toy stores that only sell educational and nonviolent toys.
Rex Dasher's character reminded me of Will Smith's character from Spies in Disguise...it would have been cool to see more of him instead of what the final product was
"Playmobil is very similar to Logo" 😂
Dude they spent all the budget in the animation. It looks so good!
When Musical Hell did this movie it got copyright struck so hard Diva couldn’t use any clips from the actual film in the review.
I had Playmobil toys as a kid, and I'd usually have them do slice-of-life stuff akin to what you'd see in Bod or Postman Pat. Ya know, the complete OPPOSITE of what this movie tried to do!
This movie is like if Video Airlines (from Garfield & Friends) was drawn and quartered into a feature length film.
Oh boy! Another “Rescue Rangers” fan! Now just agree with me that the second “Space Jam” was a fun film and we can be friends for life!
Y'know what's really tragic?
The plot of this movie would've made for a spectacular season of Infinity Train.
Youre right
Im surprised you never made an animated atrocity episode on Caillou.
3:49 Playmobil: we can't outdo The Lego Movie but we can out-weird them
The most fun part of playmobile was that their heads are hollow and the hair can be snapped on/off so you can hide small objects in them
