As someone who went to Cosmetology school and is mean with my shears but weak with my clippers, this is the best explanation and tutorial i seen on fading. The fact that you said using the edge of the Blade is point cutting made it all click for me. Thank you 🙏
Great job, very easy to follow steps and explained perfectly. You're a great tutor. Keep up the good work. Ive been cutting since '09 and and i remember in Barber school there were instructors who couldn't have taught the steps any better.
I was taught to fade up, but I could never knock out that bald line, no matter what. But man, this fading down technique got me right, and cut the time I spent on fades down big time! Much appreciated! Super clean. Best tutorial out there!

Did this for myself for reference. But maybe someone else needs these notes I took.... Step 1: Use a 1/8” Guard to go down the sides to make the hair all one length. Step 2: Upward motions, use clipper fully closed with no guard to follow the C-cup (curvetur in the line-up) around the head to the other side. First do one side all the way to the back of the head. Go up about .5 inches from the C-cup line you made (stop right before you get to the back). Do the same to the other side of the head. This is guide-line two. Step 4: Put on 1/8” guard and open up the lever all the way. Start from the second guide-line and go up 1 inch around both sides of the head, then connect both sides to the back of the head. This is guide-line three. NOW IT’S TIME TO TAKE OUT THE GUIDE-LINES… Step 5: Take out 1st GL. No Guard, start with slightly open clipper and gradually move down until fully closed. Step 6: Take out 3rd GL. Use 1 1/2” Guard, clippers all the way open to fade 3rd guide-line. Then go over the area a second time after closing the lever a bit more to continue taking out guide-line. Continue with the strategy of gradually closing the clippers and fading until they are finally closed all the way. Step 7: Take out 2nd GL. Use 1/8” Guard, clippers all the way open to fade 2nd guide-line. Then go over the area a second time after closing the lever a bit more to continue taking out guide-line. Continue with the strategy of gradually closing the clippers and fading until the line has disappeared. Step 8: Point-cut/get rid of imperfections (the dark areas) by slightly opening the clippers and going against the grain. Step 9: Go to bottom line. Use half guard on clippers all the way open to fade the line. Then go over the area a second time after closing the lever a bit more to continue taking out guide-line. Continue with the strategy of gradually closing the clippers and fading until the line has disappeared. ONCE THAT LINE HAS DISAPPEARED, CLOSE THE LEVER ALL THE WAY THEN OPEN IT UP A LITTLE (HALF-WAY). POINT CUT THE IMPERFECTIONS BY GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN. Step 10: Use trimmers to get rid of all the excess hair.

Step 4: Put on 1/8” guard and open up the lever all the way. Start from the second guide-line and go up 1 inch around both sides of the head, then connect both sides to the back of the head. This is guide-line three.
NOW IT’S TIME TO TAKE OUT THE GUIDE-LINES…
Step 5: Take out 1st GL.
