I'll always love this. The imagery of burning away what appears to be old sadness in favor of new happiness. Still having the demons of the past while feeling good enough for the first time. The ardor and eagerness to do anything this new high asks and the wherewithal to feel safe in asking it to be careful. There is hope. If she can feel it then I believe it.

I think this song was written right after she got married, the whole song seems to be about how when before her life was chaos and she couldnt find a light once she met her SO it was a spark of happiness and shes slowly gotten happier and happier. She was originally scared to show the rest of the band this song because it was so happy compared to what she usually did. If you guys like amy lee over piano without the band you should check out "lost in paradise" from the session, normally it has the band but this is an acoustic performance. Its awesome

Absolutely sorry about the wait on this one glad to be back.
This song is about her husband, Josh, who was her boyfriend at the time (the song was released in 2006 and they are still happily together), not Shaun from Seether 😂😂😂😂
On a separate note, please don't refer to the rest of the band memebers as her backing band. It wouldn't be Evanescence without them. Amy has a solo career for the stuff that is just Amy. Especially since their self titled album Evanescence has been a band in its truest sense. Before it was just Amy and Ben writing together for the 1st album and Amy and Terry writing the 2nd and the rest of the guys were pretty much there to make the tour possible. However on the self titled album every member contributed to the writing and it's their most powerful album to date. I really don't think it's fair to refer to the current band the the backing band because they aren't just there for the shows.
