  • Using a solution of ABS dissolved in acetone painted onto a bare MAKEiT print plate is an excellent method for bed adhesion for ABS, ASA, and HIPS materials.
Mix trimmings of ABS filament into an air-tight, acetone safe container and allow the acetone to dissolve the ABS overnight. Once you have an even solution, use a natural fiber brush to paint on a thin layer onto a MAKEiT print plate. Allow to dry completely before using the plate on your printer. For best results use a "Raft" setting in your slicing program.
Use precautions when working with acetone and especially the acetone/ABS mixture. Work in a ventilated area and avoid direct skin contact. Do not paint the solution onto a print surface sheet as it will damage the surface. Only use this method on a bare plate with no surface sheet applied. Do not drink ABS juice, it's not actually juice, it will cause serious bodily harm, and it tastes terrible.
