- UPDATE! They reversed everything! Crisis averted? Maybe, maybe not. The line between the next-gen consoles is steadily turning into a blurry, mushy haze and all we can do is ball up and get forced along for their ride. news.xbox.com/2...
UPDATE 17:22 EST June 6th 2013: Now we're at 321 "No" comments and 90 "yes" comments
UPDATE 11:43 EST May 30th 2013: I just counted 256 "No" comments, and 57 "yes" comments.
TO ANYONE ABOUT TO LEAVE A COMMENT: Please try to include either a "yes" or a "no" in your writing! That way, I can ctrl-f results more quickly. Using other words increasing the chances of your comment getting mulled over. If anyone's feeling diligent, feel free to count with me and post updates. I can't be here all the time.

The bandwagon has already made their decision. This reveal event was just one huge blast of reassurance that the next generation is going to be one of the most disappointing yet.
This video uses music and sound effects from audiomicro.com and incompetech.com/
Music tracks (in order) are:
Kevin Macleod: "The Cannery"
Kevin Macleod: "Gaslamp Funworks"
"AMAH:" "Factory Jazz"
Antony Raijekov: "Photo Theme: Window Like"
It's also hosted on superbunnyhop.com
Just comparing the like/dislike bar to your PS4 video just goes to show that people will take a shit on you when you go against the popular opinion.
+triedge763 MS only cares about the money, Sony makes consoles because they love gamers.
***** Fanboy logic.
+Victor Kruger Yeah they don't do it for the money at all *rolls eyes*
+Victor Kruger
Incredible
+Victor Kruger yeah Sony should just give away PS4s since they love gamers and don't care that much about money
I know I'm late, but: No, I do not have a cable subscription at all. It is a waste of money.
OuroborosChoked I myself am 27, and I haven't watched TV in the past ten years. And I bet even people who are interested in reality shows and documentaries about Nazi illuminati aliens would rather watch them on the internet.
OuroborosChoked I haven't had a tv cable subscription since 2006.
Ur right
OuroborosChoked I haven't watch TV that wasn't Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, or RUclips in nearly ten years.
+OuroborosChoked The apartment complex I live in has a 99 year contract with ATsuckingT. We're required to pay an extra $100 for a 1000 Ur-screwed-verse channels we never watch and 12MBs (barely) of internet. ATT makes it hard for you to watch Netflix or any other online content. Thank God we're moving soon.
no
Idk seemed legit
But what do you think? Yes or no?
no u
I built a PC about a month ago, completely fed up with the increasing levels of suck involved with a next gen console. I laid down 1300$ and with the power of some sales and amazon prime I was able to get a fairly beefy machine. Since then my gaming world has been infinitely better. Steam sales and public demos have blown me away by how fun and cheap they are. On my old 360, the complete GTA-4 game with all the expansions was incredibly expensive. On my PC, it was 6$ on a steam sale. I am commenting to thank you George, as I never would have decided on a PC if it weren't for your videos. My extensive library of games that will take me a lifetime to finish goes out to you. -Chaos
Same, my ps4 started to collect dust after having a pc.
Wow. Fake applause. Seriously Microsoft?
4:07
But... Steam friends are literally my only friends.
Cave Rave True. That's why I have none.
that's sad.
There is so little difference between the two that the binary is Wii U vs Playbox 41
+John Jowers
"Playbox 41" X-D
But yeah, at this point that's more than just hyperbole...
props for making one of the most unnerving and terrifying endings to a youtube video ever. The guy says his piece on absolute corporate control, and then the cheering and applause goes on and on and on... It's perfectly uncanny. 10/10
It's dark and twisted when you think of it and @ the same time it's hilarious! This for me is SuperBunnyHop at it's best!
i haven't watched tv since the History channel turned into the Fat pawn/yardsale Job channel
PREACH IT GIRL
STALKER from 2008 here to teach Call of Duty a lesson on Special Effects lol
what is this "cable" you speak of?
I do not have a cable subscription, I'm a 25 year old male with a career
Wow, either PS4 fanboys are the main beneficiaries of your channel or the XBone reveal was such a cataclysmic event that even XB fans are skittish about it.
They did a similar video for not being hyped about PS4.
Well, I'm out of the PS/XB/NIN race. Although I'm curious about the upcoming Steambox (considering my Steam game library).
***** How can I be? I'm already an avid member of the glorious PC master race >__>
I got to find distraction when animating something.
No, I don't use my family's cable.
I hate that nobody boos at these fucking events
Conference organizers usually pick live crowds that are least likely to generate dissent, a calculated marketing move to make the products companies want to sell look good to viewers outside the conference in hopes that it generates more buzz. It's as manipulative as you think it is.
Marketing is necessary, but in this case what the Big Three of console makers have been doing border on deceptive and excessive.
skip to 6 minutes in, lol
After that "xbox tv" the audience should have shouted "BULLSHIT" as loud as they could, then walk away... head shaking.
Nobody's actually cheering though, they have a soundboard
it's kinda weird to go back and watch videos i used to watch a lot in high school now that im out of college. it's almost an out of body experience
COMPARISHON
He says that in most of his old videos and quite possibly his new ones. I just noticed. It can't be a mistake.
I asked him about it on Steam and he said that 'He's been saying it fine his entire life and no one has corrected him, it's just people on the internet.'
I told him he's wrong. Very fucking wrong.
+paynexkiller It's just pronunciation though. But, that is a very funny explanation though haha
it just shows how comparatively polite Americans are: If a Brit butchered the word that bad, they'd be corrected a billion times. Shit, the Times would run it as front page news 'man mispronounces word'
No.
Only shows I watch (which is few) I torrent or Netflix.
90% of the use I gave to television, appart from videogames, is like background noise when I'm alone.
Some 1984 shit with that xbox.
Did all these features actually happen with the xbox 1? I haven't played or seen them in any of my friends houses so I don't even know what it's like.
+FiftyThousandFrozenFoxes They drastically changed it after a lot of backlash and played it off as positive PR because "they listened to the fans".
No. Right now XB1 and PS4 have none of those unilateral features.
I hardly even watch things like Netflix, let alone TV! I pretty much just use RUclips, and that takes up most of my life...
i haven't watched tv in like 2 years
Anyone else miss the days when a console meant that you could just hit the power button and stuff a disc into a slot to start playing?
Even Steam removed the requirement to actually install the game on your PC. This whole thing is ass-backwards.
3 years have passed, but i still would like to answer George's question:
i am from Italy; here the internet connections are REALLY dodgy, i'm quite lucky since i live in the north of Italy in Milano (which is a lot more "developed" than even Rome when speaking about internet connections) therefore TV should be the winning "entertainment" platform right? Wrong
even here Internet is the clear winner, and services such as Netflix are finally avaiable and massively used..and i'm so glad about it, because our TV networks have tried for years to brainwash people into despising online services..since here some of the biggest TV networks are property of politicians (Berlusconi owns "mediaset") for years they've made laws which didn't allow for other countries services to be commercialized here...they lost finally
PS: personally i didn't have a TV subscription anyway before
I hear you man. In the US, I think the cable companies feel threatened because they're often using paid-off politicians to try bring the internet under their control.
Only old people watch TV. No one in their right mind could stand that quantity of commercials and on top of that we are even forced to pay them! It frustrates me so much!
Alessandro Buffa ...please tell me you're not from Milano-Italy...
No Roma ahahah why?
Alessandro Buffa perchè ho un amico milanese che si chiama esattamente Alessandro Buffa..omonimia sempre causa di sorprese ; )
2016 here, still not watching cable television. Netflix, Hulu, and even Amazon prime video are more than enough.
lol, I gotta agree with you man. I hardly pick up my television remote! XD yeah, this actually bummed me out about the "next gen" gaming. you have gained a subscriber.
I mean im almost 3 years late lol, but nope! no TV subscription! Just Netflix and gaming ^_^
+MayerEO Same! Just now getting to this!
I haven't subscribed to cable TV since the late 90's. I haven't even bothered with broadcast TV, for the last 12-14 years I have been downloading shows or watching streaming shows on my computer
No, I don't watch TV. I have Netflix and RUclips, and our state-sponsored TV network is free online anyway if I want some quality news or something.
1:57 If you have to switch what console you are viewing from the DVR what's the point in putting it in the XBONE? Just put all the consoles directly in to the TV, less steps and no loss of quality.
No.
Id Choose Internet over Cable anyday.
I never use the TV for cable. Im in your poll thing. Yaa?
Sorry for the super late post, but this is about the question around 5:33. I don't watch TV regularly MYSELF, but my Mom watches satellite TV regularly just to get some noise in.
it's funny and sad at the same time. the same guy puts a video about why not to get hyped for the xbox one. a little hate and a good amount of likes. then this guy puts up a video about why to not get hyped for the ps4 and gets a lot of hate and a few likes. God damnit sony cult.
Think about what games are released for PS and not XBox. Now think about what games are played primarily on PS and PSP. JFinal Fantasy. Fighting games. Japanese titles.
And XBox is made in the U.S. And PS is made in Japan.
Starting to understand?
It's fucking weeaboos. Did you think we were joking when we called them scum? It's not a joke. They're absolutely the worst people alive.
Wow. Everytime I see the Xbox itself...I just think "That looks so heavy, and bland."
@116946664465463520208 I never said the 360 was light either.
I think the same when I see James Corden
this commemt aged like whine, the new xboxs looks even worse,
Where the fuck was that clapping coming from? Was it seriously just a clap track for the people at home to hear? At the actual event was it just dead silent while he stood there waiting for the fake applause to stop? How did he know when it was over without an ear piece? So many questions!!!
Haven't had cable in 7 years.
I haven't watched TV in years voluntarily. The only time I've watched it is when I go to my parent's
Over a decade later, it's clear that this reveal did irreparable damage to the Xbox brand.
No, and I never watch TV.
youtube and p2p sites are my tv :)
I don't watch TV at all, but my parents who aren't tech-savvy still keep our TV subscription running because its more familiar to them than Netflix (although on occasion, they'll ask me to set up a movie from there, too).
I don't understand it, personally, but I guess some people still enjoy flipping through channels and having background noise.
The only TV I really watch nowadays is the morning's news.
you're clueless the reason microsoft built it around tv and stuff is because according to their research a large number of xbox live users actually spent more time watching stuff than actually playing games
Isn't that because in the 360's generation's second half they spent more time featuring Netflix and putting out less games? Just compare the amount of exclusives on the PS3 and the 360 in their endlife. The 360 became a Netflix player, not a games console.
Marchof31Days i'm pretty sure i played games on it thanks and as for exclusives gears of war was all i need better than any sony exclusives i switched to xbox just for gears
If you compare exclusives, Sony has the bigger variety, which to me means a lot. I've never been a big fan of either Gears or Halo, for that matter. I've kinda grown tired of the military shooter genre.
Also, saying Gears is better than any Sony exclusive is a matter of opinion. I'd prefer Uncharted or God of War anyday over Gears.
Marchof31Days i don't want variety even if gears was the only exclusive i would still get xbox and god of war sucks i had that on ps3 it was shocking
thebeast12333 Just buy a PC...
where is the clip 7:25 of the akita from.
Nope. Pointless investment.
No, I do not watch TV at all. TV sucks, and any sort of cable package or whatever is a waste of time and money. You know, back when cable first came out, it's main selling point was that it was COMMERCIAL FREE TV. Funny how they have managed to stick it full of just as many commercials as regular TV now, and suckers still buy it up.
Mostly Netflix. I still have a cable subscription, but just because I've always had one. Do I use it? Less and less each month.
I don't even own a tv
I saw go to PC, and if you are PC then you know about the people who do not know how to set up gaming PC properly. It is your duty to help set up those people with a 360 controller, a Steam account, and a $250 GPU that is more powerful than the Xbox One even just running with a Dual Core processor.
That 'duty' thing...That's kind of why PC gamers suck.
I see so many PC gamers ready to boast how PC is better than console on articles, forums and videos and I've seen each one of them insult and provoke response from console users. I've even seen many a comment just saying people don't deserve to PC game if they can't set up their own system.
Never have I seen one try to help out a guy who just doesn't know how to do it themselves.
I like your attitude to this.
linkno1 I show people the way I play games, and they never want to play the console version after that. The reason I am so confident in my PC is because it can deliver if you have it set up correct. Especially people who play Elder scrolls or Fallout, since consoles can barely handle those games and they load up so nice on PC with hardly any load times with a SSD. Not even mentioning the mods. Many console games just never experienced PC games which make PC gamers mad since their opinions are pure ignorance.
PessOmist oh please it is not likr you experienced console exclusives either so the best thing to do is to have both consoles and pc
Destroctive Blade Console exclusives aren't even that great. Almost everything comes out on PC, well the best games anyway. Nobody has time anymore for even just the PC games. A new Elder scrolls or fallout comes out, so why would I care about a new Gears of War?
I'm not talking about xbox exclusives because I don't like them I am talking about games like uncharted 2/3 god of war 3 and most importaintly metal gear solid
Did that Halo show ever come out?
Nope
My parents have a subscription. I would never pay for one or need one.
Me too
No. I never watch TV. I only watch either RUclips, netflix and such.
The only reason i'm buying a Xbox One is because i love the controller and i hate Keyboard and Mouse :/ Don't want to use Controller vs keyboard and mouse, i'll get buttraped.. No thanks. And all of my friends who i play with got Xbox 360 and will get Xbox One... So yeah, that's why i'm getting Xbox One... I'd probably get PC if more of my friends went over to PC.. Because what is games without friends? Pfft.. Single player and a lonely multiplayer? No thanks..
plenty of friendly people on PC you would make friends in no time
Yeah but the thing is, i don't have history over years with them and i do not know them in real life who i can have fun with in my free time other than on Xbox... So yeah, not happening.. And well, i got a Laptop that can handle Arma 2 on low graphic so i can play most games with some of my PC friends..
You can hook up the Xbox controller to a PC... You could then spend that 500 on a much better gaming PC, and then play whatever you want.
I know.. That's what i do on some games.. But the thing is, Mouse is way faster and precise than a controller.
+ as i said.. My friends are on xbox, i like how xbox works. And i've seen so many cheaters on bf3. cod bo2, tf, cs and such.. I can't stand cheaters.
What music is playing the background?
Now apparently the wii u is the loser
Because there's no good grPhics or fps games
People suck
I'll take Zelda & Smash Bros over Call Of Duty and Madden anytime.
***** because you watch p0rn on it
so manny likes! not so manny xbox fanboys left?
Spodiesie Or maybe they had the courtesy to actually watch the video, unlike a certain other console community.
Spodiesie Lots of people had enough common sense to see how bad of a deal Microsoft was proposing.
fatjack2b
LOL Or maybe, it's because people like you still can't accept that his PS4 video was a complete joke, and it was much easier to agree with this video, because it was easy to bash the XBOX One. Microsoft did it to themselves.
Humorous LOL Found the sonypony guys...
Humorous LOL You are literally confirming every stereotype about your community in existence. Fortunately, I know better than to believe that all ps4 players are like you.
hey ! a question ! now this vidéo is 2 yo and we all have incarnated the dog in CoD Ghost, did you buy it day 1 for 60$ (on PC) ?? :p just curious !
yep ;) i saw that (considering he is now one on my top 5 gaming analyst/youtuber worldwide, and that i have watched all his videos since the first to the last)
i like the xbox one, i enjoy it soooooo..?
i was ganna buy it but i cant find them anywhere so i just got the xbox
***** You're the reason I don't like the Playstation fan base.
its not bad luck lol i love it, no regrets buying it, i like the launch games a bitt better anyways so
There is nothing wrong with that. If you like the Xbox One, you like it. Play on, mate. I'm getting the PS4, but sometimes I wonder if I should get the Xbox One.
kyle batchelor That's true xbox had a bit better launch lineup but it still sucked to be honest. If you look at the games to come the ps4 has a much better lineup.
There is a tv subscription in my house. Do I use it? Not really. Everyone else (non gamers) uses it a lot though.
Nope. No cable subscription. I watch everything on the internet. I do have a digital antennae for live sports, but that's about it.
Whatever happened to that halo show? Is that even still happening?
Probably just done for E3.
It was called Nightfall and it was bad
CastledCard was that that netflix thing?
RoboHoundGames No it was exclusivity on the Halo Channel on Xbox
5:51
George my boy, this is why I love you.
I do not know anyone under the age of 30 who still regularly watches TV on a TV. Even my 66 year old mom watches her TV after it's been recorded and streamed to her computer by our headless TV recording computer (skyTV records 2 channels while watching a third? we record all channels, while watching all channels from any monitor in the house!).
I'd actually be pretty confident in saying that, other than possibly watching maybe one or two shows on a regular weekly basis, people actually read newspapers more and for longer than they watch TV! And that's barely counting internet news!
It's probably because everyone in the actual media itself is shown watching TV that we have this idea that people watch a lot of it, like a dying magazine company putting "our magazine sales are up by 200%!" on the cover.
I have enough proof that they do this, because of things like news outlets blaming everything except the news for those school shootings in the US, even after the social researchers pointed at them (unanimously) at being one of the leading causes.
They will do ANYTHING to get out of acknowledging that their media is growing less popular as the times move forward.
No Cable TV. Big waste of money
There is no "dog-mode" per se, but in the singleplayer, you get to control Riley in certain missions. Does that count?
Why did you censor out 'cable'... it was more accurate I would think. A 'TV subscription' sounds weird considering I bought the monitor itself which is often called the 'TV'.
The footage of sliding gameplay at 7:00 is from Crysis 2.
nope, no cable. my parents watch the programs that are generally on cable but even they found a subscription based online service (like netflix) that has the same channels for wayyyy less money
You could basically backwards compatibility is aloud because instead of connecting your tv you can connect your 360
I would love to see an update now that it's over a year later, but I imagine everything you said about the PS4 in that 8th-gen video applies to the One as well.
dude you need to put up more of this stuff. I mean this is spot on!! More people need to see this
What ever happened to that Halo TV show?
It's still getting made from what I understand just delayed big time, just like how quantum break just came out like a month ago
The Halo show has since come out. It is Bad.
I don't have a dish/cable subscription.
At 4:07 you got three steam messages? It freaked me out
That's the point. Think about what he was talking about at the time.
Ahhhhhhhh. Thank you
im late as well but haven't had TV since I got high speed internet about 8+ years ago. Has anyone tallied this shit up.
I cancelled Sat\cable in 2004, but I know girls who have cable, not 1 man tho.
whatever happened to timesplitters?
I haven't watched live TV in fifteen years at least.
The closest has been being at a party or a bar or a friend's house and all I can ever think is, "Wow, this is limited. Why would anyone passively watch something that they have no control over the programing?"
No, I don't regularly watch cable TV.
I don't watch live TV. Ever. All TV I watch is either On Demand or Netflix or any other streaming service.
Well, I can safely say that over here in the Netherlands basically everyone has cable TV and basically everybody still watches it too. Nowadays every provider has some sort of package for interactive television, which is you being able to rewind shows that have already started prior to you watching it or turning on your TV, so it's basically VOD'ing, and they have actual VODs on that aswell. Besides that most providers only offer packages that have either TV and internet or TV, internet and wired phone connections. There's some that also offer internet only, it's just that those are barely used by people, since most also want a TV subscription of some kind. Also I have to add that Netflix has sadly only been introduced as a service in this country for about one and a half year or so, so even THAT is something that people are starting to use and get used to recently. So yeah, that's the situation over here, I guess you could say that we kind of fall behind on most implementations and intergrations of modern technology in favor of our trusty old big screen television devices.
No TV, Netflix, red box, and I just buy the season of what ever I really want to watch.
...Did that Halo TV series ever materialize?
Apparently no
On Paramount Plus, yes
Not only do I not have a cable subscription and not only do almost all of my friends not have cable subscriptions, I worked as a door to door Verizon salesman for a couple of months and discovered that it was nearly impossible to sell to people my age because NO ONE has a cable subscription and that was the only way Verizon was competitive
I'm curious as to why nobody knows that the ps4 has the same show apps, netflix, hulu, and so on....
I'd forgotten how TV-centric the X1 was at first (they toned it down, guess they got the point). But in all seriousness, who is genuinely interested in spending $500 on a device to watch TV? It's just gonna be one extra device sucking up energy for no reason. If you just wanna watch TV, you need to have the X1 turned on or else the signal won't go through. It'd be okay as a nifty little feature, sure, but to make such a big deal out of it... MS, focus on the games, that's what a games console is for. And that's where you're lacking the most.
3:38
"Except this time, people are arguing about which console disappoints them the least."
Holy shit! You just blew my mind!
I remember regretting buying the 360, while the PS3 was there with better games. I'm slightly glad I never begged for another console, and stuck with the really old Windows XP.
No. My television cable box has been unplugged for almost a year. I haven't missed it once!
I watch cable TV maybe a quarter of the time I spend with media, otherwise it's used for gaming. I live with my parents though, so there you go.
Also, cool for crediting the music at the end. I'm glad to know this Antony Raijekov guy's stuff. I think you also used his stuff for the MGS2 critical close-up (not sure).
youre actually really well spoken ; my first time watching ;;; new sub now
This connecting your other consoles to the xbone would be pretty good, if there was no input lag
Yes. I Watch Cable. HAPPY?
It's 5 years late and now irrelevant, but I do have a cable subscription 10 months a year. That period encompasses the MLB playoffs, NBA playoffs, NFL regular season and playoffs, March madness, and college football bowl season. I cancel the cable when it's just baseball on (June and July)
This video explains the reason I don't play video games anymore. (So why do I watch your content? Because I used to play video games. But mostly it's because you, George, explain the trends and ideas in the video game microcosm that have surprisingly profound connections to the current macrocosm of art, politics, and commerce. Also you do a great job blending facts, logic based opinions, and humor)
I digress, I only actually read books and listen to music for entertainment now. Most video games just feel like a tremendous grind to play. The stories are patronizing and generic, the content is usually stretched thin and padded with forced grinding. Most video game related companies seem too be more about shameless profiteering then producing good content (aka rent seeking) and frankly, I'm a contrarian and nobody seems to appreciate the rich world of books anymore. If you read this whole thing, thank you for your patience.
my parents do have cable/ foxtel (what is offered in australia) however i dont remember the last time nither me or my younger bother watched or used the TV besides the odd 'Netflix n chill' classic cable TV is slowly becoming rapidly obsolete.
+Euan Jones How can something slowly become rapidly obsolete? :P
A couple years late but we cancelled our TV services. really there is no need for it if you have wifi in your home. I have anything I want to watch on demand. And I don't have to pay extra
2:15 The Neptunia games probably don't help that much.
As a college student, not only do I not watch cable or any other form of that TV, but I don't know anyone of any age that watches TV. Just streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.
I'll summarize my previous points with a question, If the Gen now is the same as the one before Why call it NEXT GEN??
