Sharp TV Flashing Light LED/LCD Reset

  • So one morning I turned my Sharp Aquos 70” LC-70LE734U TV off and then right back on again and it would not come back on it had a fast flash and a slow flash on the light. I searched this on RUclips and found a video by Tampatec, to reset your TV but it seems he missed one step, after reading many forum posts, and watching a lot of RUclips videos, going to Shop Jimmy, etc. I was pretty much convinced I was going to have to strip my set down and look for bad LED lamps. Then I found a string on “Toms Guide” forum that someone ran into by accident just trying different variations of the button sequence. If you just plug your set back in after the reset it will just go back into the same cycle of one fast flash one slow flash. But if you hold down the power button until the TV comes on while plugging it back in it will reset. So I will run through the whole sequence.
Unplug the TV, press and hold volume down button and the input button on TV while plugging in the TV until it comes on. Then press Volume down button and channel down button at the same time and the TV will open up the service menu. Use channel and volume buttons either on the remote or on the TV to move through and toggle on off on the service menu. Channel up & down moves and highlights different sections in the menu, and the volume up & volume down toggles a selection on or off. On page 2 start at “Lamp Error Reset” toggle it to on, then up to “Reset” toggle that one to on, then up to “Industry INIT” toggle it to on and click the OK/enter button on the remote. The green screen will come up indicating the reset was good. Then unplug the TV again, push and hold the power button on the TV while plugging the TV back in, as the TV come on it will go directly to the TV set up page.
For those of you who do not have a remote or it is broken according to Alex DeMeo the input button on the side of the television also doubles as select/enter! Awesome information to add, thank you Alex!
*There still may be some internal issue with the TV because every time the set loses power it will revert back into the same fast flash, slow flash sequence, and you will have to do it all again, as long as the set is not unplugged or does not lose power it will continue to work as it should.

Thanks very much for your informative factory reset tutorial! I fpund this exact 70inch tv leaning against the dumpster behind my workshop. Me being a "do it yourself" type of guy like you, i couldn't let it go out with the trash without investigating. The tv had the flashing light at first power up attempt. I threw it in the back of my jeep after that, to bring home and investigate further. I found your guide, and wow! I got the screen to light up! Only, it would only stay on for seconds, or minutes. It stayed on long enough a couple times for me to get through the reset procedure, but kept reverting back to the flashing light after shutdown. Time to take it apart and use the multimeter. I found a bad diode, $0.30 cents, ordered, $5 shipping. Replaced, still having problems. Ordered new power board $50. Replaced, didn't work. Company sent me another one, replaced, power On!!! Used your guide again, and now have a 70inch dumpster tv working great for $55!!

I have a LC-70EQ10U I am getting the long flash long pause, quick flash, lol this reminds me of reading the OBD1 code on my car from the 80's. anyway, when i do this as described above I get the LED comes on for a while, maybe 30 seconds like the TV is trying to start , then goes back to blinking. I got the TV for free on craigslist. The owner said some of the backlight LEDs were out. Hopefully the LEDs or LED did not short. I have heard that happening.

This guy REALLY, REALLY!!! Deserves a award and a check. It's Oct 3rd 2022 and I switched my TV 📺 off, only to see this dreaded flashing light. I was headed to Sam's Club, to spend over $1,000 on a new TV 📺. I said, let me check RUclips for the flashing light problem, and Eureka!!!!!! This savior, of a video popped up. My TV is the exact same one. Actually mine is up 1 model. But I think it's a 2011, 2012 older TV. I followed this guy's directions to the letter, and now I'm sitting here eating green grapes 🍇 and watching Ancient Aliens. I can put off spending that $1,000 until this sharp Aquos Quattron 3D goes completely out. But not today. A thousand times THANK YOU SIR!!!! Pun intended. Because I almost spent that $1 000. If you're ever in Louisiana, I owe you 2 cases of beer.

I followed your advice to unplug then hold down “volume down” and “input” while plugging in. That worked to get rid of the blinking light and get the tv back on. But instead of changing anything in the service menu, I just powered the tv off by pressing the power button on the side of the tv, then I powered it back on. It came on and is working like normal.
I have the same model and size tv as yours, and my problem also arose when one son powered the tv off with the button on the tv and another son immediately powered it back on with the remote. Anyhow, I am really glad you made this video. I had no clue how to get the tv back on. Thanks so much.

Welches davon Kann ich anstelle des Input Taste verwenden?
Ich komme leider nicht voran würde es auch gerne in diese Menü Rein kommen um die LEDs zu Resetten.

Thank you so much ‼️I can’t express how much you helped me . I panicked after I saw my tv blinking. I have Sharp Aquos 65 in. It’s not just tv for me . Actually I have little story to tell. I live in Canada. My husband bought this tv for me in 2008. Last year he passed away. And when yesterday it started blinking I got scared. I can’t afford to buy new one right now not even repair. When I saw your video I got some hope.In the start, the video wouldn’t help but I kept trying again and again. It took me 3 hrs to get it fixed for some reason it won’t after I reach to step Select language because after that my tv options are different. It just asks for two options Air/Cable and channel search. And if I select air /Cable it will take me to channel search and than I have to choose input 5 than it will take me back where I was (blinking again) . But I just kept doing again and again. Than it just worked after seeing your tips.
Miracle for me. I have not done all these things before it was my husband’s job. Learning lot of things on my own. Taking care of kids as well. Dealing with so many issues. But you helped me with one issue.I am so happy and so thankful to you. Lots of Blessings I can only give to you . You saved me money and most of all gift my husband gave me which is priceless. So THANKS A LOT .I have Subscribed you as well.

YAY all I did was the first step and half of the second and my tv came back on. I didn’t even have to reset. Thank you so much!!! Only now there’s a K in a small box on the left of the screen. But that’s the least of our problem.

Read my description in this video, you need to unplug the TV, then while holding the volume down button and the input button at the same time plug your TV in. Good luck.

xPho3nix, if the info in the video does not work your only option is to search Google with your TV name and model. See if you can find out what reading each of the power board connections should have, and check them with a multi meter. There must be something burner out in one of the boards. Let me know what you find?

All that you have to do is unplug the tv, then hold in power button, than plug back in. No need to do all that this video shoes you, really not needed. Unplug, then plug in with ower button being pushed will do exactly same as here.

Sabah Abdulameer, with a multi meter you can check the outputs on the board. You just have to seach to find what those outputs are supposed to be. shopjimmy.com may be able to help with some of your questions they have quite a bit of good informaion on RUclips.

I left my tv on firestick for about 20 minutes and when I came back the long flash/short flash happened. Thank you very much for this video. My wife can go back watching her netflix series.
This tv is rarely used. It is also plugged into a power conditioner to protect it from power surges.
Maybe the firestick's way of sending power off commands caused the early failure.

Thanks so much for that excellent fix. Yesterday while playing my PlayStation 3 I accidently unplugged one of my HDMI cables from another input and my Sharp Aquos LC-52D65U power light started flashing but the TV would not come on. Tried other fixes but holding down the input and volume down while powering up the tv seemed to fix it. Now back to my game.

Thank you very much, worked out great. The only problem we had was the remote was not working the there was no way to press enter as the input button would not work. We had to purchase a universal remote and program it then we could press enter/ok. In the end it got an old TV working perfectly so for a few dollars and this great tutorial we are up and running, cheers!!!

I still have this TV that I bought in 2011 but it's the 3D model 70LE735U. I was using calibrating settings from PlatPanel until I invested in a colorimeter sometime in 2023. I did my final calibrating of it using HCFR over the weekend and the picture looks stunningly beautiful even though I could only calibrate it to Rec 709 75% saturation.

I don’t know if Sharp has done some updates to the TV or not, but now the process to reset is extremely easy for me. I unplug the TV, hold down the volume down and input button, plug it back in, and keep holding until the tv comes up. After that, I switch to the input that my cable box is on, and then I turn the tv off. When I turn it back on, everything works normally (if you don’t turn it off then turn it on, the volume button seems locked at either volume 0 or volume 30- there is no in between. Turning the tv off and then on again solves this).

WOW! I woke up and my 80inch Aquos was doing this. I followed this video and my tv is back working. THANK YOU! My dilemma is if I power my tv off normally and then move the power cable to its original outlet the issue returns. Any thoughts on why this is happening?
For now I have it on my longer extension cord that I used to do this reset until I figure out why the issue returns as described above. Again any help or thoughts why it returns when I power off normally, unplug and plug back in is helpful and appreciated.
