I was quite excited when I noticed that the mod chip was back in stock on your KOFI, but to my disappointment, I noticed you do not ship to Australia😢, is there a workaround?
Hi, I've added Australia as a shipping option now if you're still interested. Just be aware that shipping is expensive, even though the board is tiny, and you'll have to consider any import fees that would be due. If you know someone locally that can do the soldering, it would probably be cheaper to order the PCBs yourself and get them assembled. Always happy to offer the option though :)
Currently awaiting another batch of PCBs, should have more for sale shortly. Drop me a message if you're interested in more than one, or are located outside of the UK.
@@ViolinistProductions Funny you ask, someone asked the same thing through my blog almost a year ago. The result is sitting on my desk :) It's a more tricky install than this one, and I'm not 100% sure where exactly you need to trim (so I ended up trimming a lot from inside the dock), but it works. Just need to get everything ready to release it.
@@qubitstech I'm assuming this is for the OG 3DS dock? That's amesome that you already had something in the works. Dock modification is 100% more efficient, and poses less risk to damaging consoles/controllers themselves
@@ViolinistProductions I bought an OG dock for testing (I don't actually have a 3DS), but the person who asked about it has several different docks and found they all use the same PCB
There's more on the way, though they take a while to get here. I'm happy to sell to South Africa, just be aware that postage is quite expensive, and any import fees/taxes are extra.
The only charger I can think that wouldn't work would be a type C charger using an incompatible cable. If you have a phone charger/cable, you'll be fine :) Type A to C cables will also work fine.
There's plenty of room inside the gamepad so it would definitely be possible. That would mean risking the gamepad though, so it's not something I really want to do. You can buy generic type C charging boards quite cheaply, one of those should be enough if you can find a good place to mount it.
Hi, I currently have one for sale on ebay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266493850600 I've also opened a store on Kofi, which should be easier than updating ebay links. You can find it here: ko-fi.com/s/df642fb009
Hi, I've just received a new batch of boards, should have a few assembled this evening. Get in touch through ebay or our blog contact form if you're interested.
Groovy. This seems like a good way to get comfortable soldering. I'm not risking the whole console, and I get to try something new
Definitely, it's also reversible if you ever wanted to change back. Well, assuming you don't add a switch.
Except it would be better to risk the whole console since the gamepad is worth double the price of the console
@@sybsygstgstsgysg5330 Except the mod is specifically for the gamepad charging dock, which is significantly cheaper than the gamepad itself...
Just installed mine, and it works amazingly! Thanks for sharing :)
That's great, enjoy :)
This is pretty slick and adds a ton of life to this console when people stop making that goofy plug
Thanks, it certainly beats having yet another proprietary cable to keep track of :)
seeing your store is out of stock, Is it fine if I bulk order a couple and sell them on ebay basically at cost?
Yeah, no problem, I appreciate you asking first :)
I do have some more PCBs on the way, but it will probably be another month before they're here.

Any chance you’ll be restocking these? I’m from the US as well.
@@Luis-ph7tu Hi, I do have a couple more of these, if you check my ebay account you'll find the listing. Best way to contact me would be through ebay.
I just had some of these done by OSH Park (:
Can't wait to put setup the dock this weekend
Sorry for taking so long to reply, that's great to hear. Hope you managed to get it installed successfully :)
@@qubitstech no worries! Was wondering if you'd looked at doing something like this for the 3DS docks?

It seems that you lost the tiny arm spring.
Ah, someone noticed :) Though I didn't actually lose it, I just missed it when recording the dock reassembly. I put it back in off camera.
Wow thanks for the video. Boards out of stock though. You getting more anytime soon? Also do you ship to South Africa :]

Just bought the last one 😬

Is there a way to put this in the gamepad, because the charger is the one thing I HATE about the Wii U. Near flawless system

Can you make one for the Pro controller?
I don't think the Pro controller has a dock, so any mod would have to be to the controller itself
The Wii U Pro Controller wasn't proprietary, and is just a USB Mini.
Where can i order the switch and the usb c plate ?
Hi, you can find a link in the pinned comment. I got my switch from Aliexpress, but any electronics seller should have them.
Is anyone selling these boards pre-made already?
