- Just a short video of how you can start your 2014 - 2018 Silverado/Sierra without your HMI. Why would you want to do this? If you ever plan performing any custom programming where your HMI needs to be sent off for programming, this video will show how you can start your truck and not be completely down.

Yeah Phil, great video! I was wondering if you could make me a secret kill switch by connecting to the positive and negative on the hmi, and then I could mount the switch under the dash somewhere. So it can't be stolen.
Thanks for putting this together. I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 and I have lost my HMI for the 2nd time. After watching your video I see that when the dealer replaced it, they reinstalled it upside down. Me thinks that the unit was not getting proper ventilation as noted by the exhaust fan on the unit, and it failed - the weather is getting warmer where I am. Thanks for sharing.

If they can add mirrors that tilt in reverse and Auto up on all 4 windows for my 16 silverado LT I will rip out the module tomorrow and send it in. Make sure to make an update video!
Fat Head Cycles If I recall, reverse tilt was an operation that is dependent of seat memory and the seat memory module. There was a ton of parts needed (that I bought and tried) to get Seat Memory. But the components kept adding up, missing circuits and various modules that would have needed programming. So I gave up. I sunk $1K into (I think) and didn’t want go any deeper. For auto, I wanna I say that may be possible with some form of programming... I would reach out to WAMS on that one.
Got me like a kid anticipating a gift at Christmas. Doh! What new things are you adding already, the suspense is killing me.

Phil, Chevy makes a SSV/PPV Silverado in your model truck, they're Rare. I've seen 1 so far. The rear of the truck is lowered/leveled nearly the height of the front. Would you know or can you find out how they do this from the factory? I believe either the rear leafs don't have as much as an arch or the rear leaf shackles are longer, but they wouldn't be made the way all aftermarket drop shackles are designed ( Welded together 2-piece design, prone to cracking ) the OEM leaf shackles are a 1-piece design. I'd like to lower the rear of mine the same way the SSV/PPV Silverados are

I recently bought a 2015 gmc sierra at an auction. It was a stolen truck before ending up there. I'm having troubles starting it. The wires going from the HMI to the On Star and Radio Module were tampered with. They cut the heads off the ends of the radio and On Star Module. Will this still affect wether the truck will start or not? I don't mind buying the radio module, but I don't want to buy the On Star module if it's not really necessary.
2016 gmc canyon here...HMI is going off and on any suggestions or contacts? Replacement or does it need reprogrammed?
What about this if the screen show waiting for media update
I have a blacked out screen and the radio comes on when I start my truck but only stays on for about 10 minutes then it turns off. The screen stays blank throughout all this. I can control the radio through my steering wheel. Would reprogramming and updating my HMI fix my blank screen?
Check for loose connections at HMI and back of the screen. Could be failing screen or HMI.
@@philgamboa2906 I was hoping I wouldn't have to take the screen out but looking like that's the next route to take. If that doesn't work, do you think buying a new HMI would fix my problem?

Thanks! It is a combination of a mount from Panavise. It is a Vehicle Specific Mount. Here is a link to what I have. They have a couple of versions based on if you want the mount to sit higher or lower on the mounting point. www.panavise.com/pdf_indash/751101714.pdf - It uses existing bolts to mount. The holder itself is from ProClip USA. www.proclipusa.com/product/adjustable-iphone-holder-for-lightning-to-usb-cable. I used a Lightning Cable and it is fed to the Glove Box USB so that Apple Play passes through. I removed the Glove Box USB and tucked it behind the glove box so it is hidden. Good L

Hey PGamboa I already bought the 8”lcd coming wit NG 2.5 HMI its from a GMC Sierra Denali can I use it on my 2015 Silverado LT 2500? I installed it but when it turns on it appears on the Screen “THEFT LOCKED” If i take it to the dealer to program it will it show up as Chevrolet MyLink?

Phili need your help! I just got some leather memory power seats that I would like to put on my 2014 regular cab lt. I tried plugging in the harness and the seats didn't work :( I wonder what I would have to do to the harness to add power seats
Jay, the reason you lost power adjust on the driver side is because the power for the control switch goes through the Seat Memory module where on the trucks without seat memory, the power goes straight to the motors. I make a bypass harness for this for $135. I made a thread for that here.

Will the airbag and seatbelt sensors still work with the stock harness?
Phil Gamboa hello phil I have one more question for you. On your harness that you are selling for 140 is that for 1 seat harness only or for 2 seats??
Harness is for the driver side only. The passenger side, in my truck, had the power circuits present and didn't need any modification for the power adjust controls to work. Also, there might be additional sensors needed for the air bag. Since you are moving to a powered seat, the truck needs to know its position. If your driver seat is already powered, you may not need a sensor for that one, but the passenger seat will. I helped a local member here and he needed to add a seat position sensor. After we installed that, the air bag light went away.
I unplugged the grey 12pin connector on the hmi and plugged it back in , now my radio does not work
Can you be more specific? What was done, is the screen black? Did you send the HMI off to get unlocked?

I have a 2015 Silverado and I replaced the HMI to where I can get Apple car play. I plugged my phone into the USB and the audio isn't working so I upgraded my center console USB port and it still isn't playing any audio. Do you have a solution to that?

What gauge wire did you use for the blue and white wire?
it don't matter they are just communication wires 18-22 gauge will be fine
You have the same truck as I do I've got a 2018 though you have USB hookup in the glove box I do too but mine will not do anything I'll plug the flash drive in it to play a video and park it will not do it is that why you sent this off the HMI
GM removed the USB Video playback ability on 2017 and later. My truck is a 2016. 14-16 have USB Video Playback ability. You can send your HMI off to WAMS to get the functionality restored AND get your HMI unlocked for the other features I showed.
I've taken my glove box out twice tryin to hook up a Sirius xm radio and I have no HMI box up in there. I do have 2 boxes behind the stereo.

@@JMC180 Still no box behind the glove box. I did figure out the SiriusXm thing though. I had to drill a hole and run a USB cable from my center console under the carpet to behind the dash.

It's a completely different cluster. It is a Cluster from a Sierra Denali. :) It will be a Blue Denali Cluster soon though. Also done by WAMS.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2015 GMC Yukon. All of a sudden my radio stopped working. The screen works for the rear camera. I tried controlling the radio from the steering wheel. Nothing. The hidden console will raise and lower but no radio or display. It’s lit up with like the tv is but nothing on the screen. I have checked to see if the fuse was blown and it is not. I also replaced it with a new fuse and nothing. I did wiggle the wires on the HMI and no flicker on the screen. Any thoughts or ideas!? Thanks!!

@@darianymoreno2079 it was the Media disc player (not for a cd). Something back behind the screen area. $600 parts and labor at GMC

Do you know if it is possible to add factory trailer brake controller?
Based on what I read, it is not. There is cluster interface and BCM. Once you get passed all the hardware and wiring, you're still looking at possible customer cluster/BCM. Can it be done?? Possibly. But I am unsure on the programming requirements.
