What a beautiful couple with a great chemistry between them, you could believe they were in a long established relationship. It was that dynamic which kept me watching. So much good in a film about evil!

I don't understand why this is compelling, but I was riveted to the screen the whole time. It is not original or surprising, but every moment is elegantly acted and edited.

!!!SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT CONTINUE READING THIS COMMENT BEFORE WATCHING THE MOVIE!!!!! Professional jealousy became her demon. She could not stand her husband being so successful while he felt like a big failure while being very talented. That was why in her mind he started playing piano better than she thought she could. Her ill mind created the demon to help her disassociate from her husband. The choking, in fact, is very symbolic. It was a feeling of envy choking her. You have to be strong to withstand someone else's fame or success being happy for them, whether it is your friend or a loved one.

This man just reminded me of the college kid who was sacrificing people to the demon called astaroth from BloodTies . Vicki Nelson did let him out this could be like a continuation considering he jumped bodies. This is so cool
This story was tight and well crafted. It comes full circle and the viewer gets to see the horror in this tragic love story..
I was wondering if the ending was going to ambiguous but it played out so well. That final look was killer.
The piano music was superb and enhanced the story. Was it an original composition?

Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2 by Chopin was the main piece the husband was playing starting at the 1.27min mark of the film.
Also I love that the movie is called Astaroth and they the actor on tv says "and most of all, unsure about the reality of what he's seeing" I also love this word cronysm. Until this film, I didn't even know that word and I love words especially the more elaborate and strange words.
Always cool to see shorts in my native language on Alter ! The immersion is obligatory deeper.
French makes even the most mundane thing's extraordinarily riveting to me!! I want to learn desperately! Lol

it's a true art..the movie is dark, the piano played in the back is beautiful..too bad it's only 19 minutes, longer duration would be great.
The lead actress gave off Ana De Armas vibes! Great chemistry and shot composition from the team. The director knows the cinematic language well for reveals and pacing.

@@hugopoisson9837 I'd love to check it out! I actually finished a short horror film myself that will be finishing the festival circuit at the end of the year, so I understand the tonal balances going on with that sort of short. Was the sci fi Pur Sang you were referring to?

Amazing short film, I was totally engrossed in the story and atmosphere. I am a hardcore horror fan who loves blood, guts and jump scares and this film was just so enthralling, the actors were amazing and the story fitting for any Hollywood Film Director/Writer. Would love to see more of your work 😍

I know this was two years ago, but I just found it lol
I interpreted it as her having a psychotic breakdown, triggering her to see him as "Astaroth", and killing him. That was the "demon" in her, and always in her.

Astaroth part oy the evil trinity. (father, son, and the holy spirt) the great duke of hell , first hierarchy with Beelzebub and Lucifer
This film is quite French, in many ways that are quite good. The pacing seems deliberately slow, in a way that leads the viewer to demand to know where things are going. This does a good job of leading us into Mia's mindset. The film does not sprint in a hurry from one jumpscare to the next, but rather guides us very slowly through Mia's feelings and a worsening perspective of her situation. The first couple of scenes won't even fully make sense on your first viewing, so only a very observant viewer will be able to apply them to what unfolds later. This is a really tragic story about love, jealousy, career dissatisfaction, and an unreliable narrator. I found it compelling and would recommend two viewings in order to fully understand each scene. Poor Mia's rendition of what happened at certain points is more easily understood when you know where things will arrive, and her feelings are evident in her dreams before the story even starts in earnest.
The last frame of her is a reference to Anthony Perkins last frame in Psycho (1960)
Absolutely amazing! I hated to see it end. I do have a question though, was the demon in possession of her the entire time? When she screamed “What do u want?” And he pointed to Fabian, I took that to mean it was she who was possessed by the demon.
All I have to say (for now) is that I am strangely happy that I haven't followed through with teaching myself piano!
...the ending has me confused. Was there a demon and it now is in her body or did she just snap and started to act like there was?
Whether the demon is real is a matter of symbolism and intepretation. If you believe the protagonist, there is a demon. If you believe the police officer, then she is delusional.
There was NEVER a demon in her husband. The "demon," was ALWAYS in the protagonist. The husband was happily PLAYING a possessed character professionally, but he was always in full control of himself. He never did anything worse to his wife then call her on the phone asking if she could try to find something he misplaced for his work.
Her mental health was fragile but relatively OK up until she didn't get the part she was auditioning for. Even though they were full of glowing praise and tried offering her another audition, something inside her was flailing. Her audition had been excellent, and she didn't think anybody could ever play better than she did. When the performance she gave still didn't get her the job, she started feeling like a fraud and a failure. When she got another phone call, it wasn't from her agent trying to check on her. It was from her husband, asking her for a favor.
From this point in the film, she starts seeing demonic visions of her husband looking like Astaroth. This leads to the piano scene, where she feels Astaroth's hands around her throat. This leads her to hurt her husband and run for the knife. What she SEES is Astaroth locking her out of the room so it can be alone with her husband. She is found in a room with him, though, so that is not what happened.
Astaroth may bear the APPEARANCE of her loving husband, but it is haunting the protagonist, and still is at the end.
Very well done! Bravo! The 2 lead actors in this performed flawlessly. I watched and becaome so deeply invested in both of them, and the end was a shocking twist. Excellent short.

Well done! It sort of gave me vibes of "Twilight", but with demons instead of vampires. All told, it's a good psychological drama/horror experience. Tres Bien! 👏👏👏🇨🇵

Oh man, this was fantastic! From the story-telling to the acting---I was completely enticed the whole time! Something about drama combined with horror is really stirring up the anticipation inside me, and perhaps the French language adds up to how lovely this is. The music, too! Gosh, tragic love and horror, gotta be one of my new favorites.

Excellent film 🎥! If I had created it, I would have ended it where she is holding her husband and he is bleeding, and keep it there for a little longer and then zoom out. It makes for a more powerful ending. The ending now makes the movie more commercial in nature. I hope what I mean makes sense.
I see your point on the one hand. But I took it that when she screamed at Demon "what do you want?" and it pointed at her husband it was her the demon was affecting the whole time and not the husband.

You guys should really think about making a movie. I know the whole point of this is to adapt one pre-written story, but, why stop here on youtube when you can invest to go through the bigger screens? Maybe its a little easier said than done but this channel already proved it has potential to grow even further. Maybe finding some investors who are really horror fans, i dont know, finding someone who is willing to hel you. Im saying this as a horror writer myself. Hope you can develop your dreams in the future.
