This is the corporate power players, who are never satisfied no matter how much money they make, or in this case, food they eat. And the waiters, us little people, are serving them no matter what they do, how many floors they destroy on their way, we just keep feeding them, and following them down to the next floor. This is our hell.
No these are spirits of poachers who have died, who may very well have been corporate power players...just a twist.
@@Yatukih_001 It's funny, but the animals they were eating, lions and others you are not supposed to be eating. Well, if you are rich enough you can eat those animals. I knew a guy back in the day, that could get you the meat of just about any animals you wanted. Lions, Tigers, Zebra and even Elephants!He actually showed us all the information on it. Crazy as it seems but, if you have enough money you can eat anything you want, anything.
@@elizabethgaspodnetich4322 I would prefer common species of reptile to eat...like a common boa, a common alligator, etc.If any of you who see this conversation have lots of money and would like to eat something please be aware that eating elephant and rhino flesh, or keeping or storing parts from such creatures may be extremely dangerous. Highly dangerous bacteria can contaminate the remains of the carcass and can easily enter the body. Do not eat these animals, and do not eat lions or tigers either.
@@Yatukih_001 LOL, yes, common critters can be yummy too! I am an old hunter. I started hunting with my dad when I was about 10 years old or so, and that was about 50 years ago. My dad always told me, " Never kill something unless you are going to put it out of it's misery, protect your own life or to eat it." I have eaten, Rattle Snake, Deer, Buffalo, Alligator, Bear, both Black Bears and Grizzly, and even Cougar and they are all quite yummy. The meat is good but you must take caution during storage of the meat. Nehver eat Bear Liver, it can kill you. I think out of all the animals I have eaten, Cougar and Rattle Snake's are my favorite with Buffalo tagging Rattle Snakes for second place. I think if anyone is hungry enough just about anything can become dinner. Be responsible, don't eat endangered animals!

as you can see they are all eating endangered animals and I think the plot is that in this way of behaving inevitably lead to the total extinction of man too.floor by floor

THE SICK PERSON: Powerless people who can't even take their shares but their shares were taken by other humans.
THE TABLE: The planet, the more we destroy the more it falls rapidly.
THE WAITERS : they are the nature which try there best to replenish the resources but can't help because the destruction by humans are very fast. At last he smile because humans got what they deserve and he don't like humans anymore.
At the end of the film the guy (nature) is watching at you as a warning.

The French are renowned for their brilliantly bizarre and visually visceral films. Without any dialogue, the film captures gluttony, one of the seven deadly sins, and the subsequent descent into Hell. Bravo!!!

It shows how greedy the elites are and that they will eventually fall because of their greed.
Big Corps, Global Banks, the 1 %, taking and taking. All of the servants eager to serve, not understanding they're slaves to these entities, with the one exception of the man who seems to be giving instructions to the staff. He might represent the minority of average citizens who knows what's going on. In the end, he's the one who looks on with satisfaction as the rich finally seem to put an end to themselves.
The metaphor of a banquet was clever as it gave the audience the experiencing of how sickening these people are, through the sight of gluttons consuming food.
I believe the corps, et al, will destroy themselves, sadly they will be taking everyone with them, due to the fact they have killed the planet.

The people who "made" those things are SCIENTISTS, ENGINEERS, DOCTORS,ETC.
All the rich have ever done is make everyone dependent on MONEY.
We don't actually need money if we were to reconstruct the whole trading system we have.
But because big corps and such keep making us think we just need to go on with life like this and we will be fine.
We will never get out of this situation.
Innovation can still exist without the rich.
Yes, we need to "pay" people for work.
But we do not need money for that.
All we need to do is all give our part, wether its a house/food/electronics/mining/etc.
Imagine if our trading system was built on a *want* to do something because they like doing it, instead of of a want to survive. Everyone already has their basic needs and maslow hierarchy is up to the 4th layer.
Of course this will never work because money has already integrated itself into everything. There are people in poor countries who will never be able to have a satisfying job or a suitable house, all because you need money for that - instead of brains and creativity.

Weirdly fascinating and disturbing to the right amount (which means that the directors knew very well the thin line between horror uneasiness and simple disgust!) The whole cast did an excellent job almost without a single word. My guess is that the movie is a metaphor for our society, the average people working until death to satisfy the greed of some unknown, few elites. The last scene, with the emphasis on the eye, is a reference to the Illuminati maybe?
Those eating represent the “human race”, those serving and following from floor to floor are our innovations manifest. To me this represents how we are bringing about our own destruction. The gluttony represents mankind’s desire for more, eating of the exotic animals represents our need to dominate the “lesser” species. The woman who hesitated represents how at times as a society we get glimpses of what we are doing, feel bad for a short time and then someone comes up with the newest “MicRib” and then it’s back to our same old habits. The sounds they make while eating is a metaphors for the “sound of success”. The falling has many meanings, it is directly inversely proportionate to our “rise” as the human race showing us how even though we are “gaining” and “progressing” we are intact digging our own bottomless pit.

This appears to be representing the descent into the rings of hell via the sin of gluttony, just as described in Dante's inferno.

Right someone said that it could be like corporate greed but it also could be like an addiction to drugs, gambling Etc and how it takes your family and loved ones down with them. And they're trying to make you happy but nothing is good enough and they keep using and family tails behind cleaning up their mess and enabling them... Until they hit rock bottom.

A pleasant divergence from the norm, in more ways than one. Above par production values. Outstanding makeup, costumes, props, and sets. The facial character of the actors cast is spot-on. Minimalist storyline done right. Evokes a slow-burning existential fear, not a cheap & easy "gotcha" scare or game of "wait for the twist". Maybe the best thing I've viewed on this channel. Kudos.

My Interpretation:
We are the diners, we consume video after video. The filmmaker is serving us as much as we want. Each time we fall through the floor, it is on to another video. But we are never satisfied.

Would be awesome to do a cardinal sins series. Although I doubt many people know what the cardinal sins or the seven deadly sins are anymore as many people mentioned greediness in the comments. The sin of gluttony is exhibited in this film. The punishment for the gluttonous people is to not be able to stop eating even when served disgusting items... even to the point of force feeding for the diner who passed out. Excellent short film.

Really clever movie! I saw it as the people at the table being the elite (the richest in our society) constantly eating to symbolize their endless greed and the table falling through the floor is symbolizing how this is not sustainable. The woman at the table who initially refused to eat symbolizes someone who's born into this kind of richness but knows it's not right and so she abstains from gorging herself. But in the end when she realizes they are all going to fall anyway she finally gives in and becomes like the rest of them.

Holy shit, that's some high budget short and the concept is superb. You make the way they eat disturbing kudos to the director. Totally one of the best short film that I've seen in a while.

At first I thought one of the 7 deadly sins Greed and not being satisfied with anything and they have everything so they eat for control it’s like a high for them to push the limits to see how far they can go it’s a power trip for them and every time they fall they have a chance to stop and walk away but they continue to eat because they believe they are powerful . Awesome! I'll be honest: I was going to skip this one, because I don't like French films in general, but I'm so glad I stayed! (I know now that it's French-Canadian). This is a horror film I won't soon forget! Truly unique in every way, viscerally terrifying, stomach-churning, and thought-provoking. I believe this is about the sin of gluttony, and what it does to the body (notice all the meat and innards). I think they're all in Hell, or were at least on their way, before the reluctant woman eventually gave in to her desires and they finally got there. Truly excellent horror!

I like this idea than The Platform to be honest. I wonder how they'd make the plot longer to become that kind of a full length, and how many batches of people eating there will be. The different personalities in each batch would be very interesting to watch.

Well that takes care of my appetite for the rest of the week
3 and a half minutes in and this film is AMAZING already. That mans face is so intriguing. BRAVO BRAVO! I dont know what im about to watch, but Im in love with this wonderful production already. Great work on all fronts---the effects, music, acting, editing, lighting...you name it...all in such a short period. Im sure it wont disappoint.....Oh oh and the costumes, makeup and hair...fantastic. No i dont work for any of these people and no im no high lol. Just something new and awesome is a gem these days. Not quite horror but horrific visually and metaphorically in its own way. Also usually not a fan of those types films but loved this.
I watch so many shorts and this is the best one I have seen in awhile! The noises of the food being eaten... So gross but I loved it!
What I really like about those horror short films it's the fact that it's not scary without raison or purpose, it's a story, a metaphor behind all this and its showing us the ugly truth, greed, hate, murder, sometimes justice or punishment. I really enjoyed this one and right I will not eat meat for a will

So the last sight of the waiter represent the last second of your brain processing the neurochemicals before the last breath. he is looking at you, manifesting all the events that leave a print in your memories.

ITS A WHOLE NETFLIX MOVIE SET LIKE THIS ONLY THEY ARE IN A LOCKDOWN SITUATION.
It is clear that they are of the velvet class and the waiters cannot refuse their requests. This simply causes scratches in the wood floor because of the extra weight, so the floor shatters and falls to follow the only thing they can do without effort: eating, eating and eating.
I think this was a show of how the stripping and killing of this planet would be ultimately lead to its destruction through the greed of the human race... Loved it ty

What would have been a great ending if the man in charge and all the workers, We then go down to the last floor we're all the people were injured and they would clean them up ,cook them and then they would eat them. That would be some sort of justice .

It's a brilliant film! I have always wanted to see both transposed and literal interpretation in one film.
It perfectly describes how the people who make the biggest decisions in our society devour the whole planet. Unfortunately, in many cases, the damage they cause cannot be repaired and they aren't held responsible for the atrocities they have committed.
LISTEN TO ME, HUMANITY! It's true that God has given us this world. It's also true that he has modelled us in his own image and we are the pinnacle of creation. But be careful!
