Robert Sheckley is Finn O’Donovan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Sheckley
Early to mid-20th century US sci-fi was like seven guys and six women for a smooth eighteen years. 83,000 stories, 450 noms de plume, 13 likely-humans (not yet persuade that they all were _all_ human).

absolutely! In the pulp magazine era pseudonyms were often necessary when several stories by the same author were slated for the same issue. Henry Kuttner, for one, is known for his myriad pseudonyms..

Why would they put the water supply miles away?

This story seems very racist. The natives are "dirty brown" and speak crude English like the racist caricatures of Native Americans did in old movies. I stopped listening after a minute.

That was the point. You should have fixed yourself a snack of dead meat and sugar and listened to the end.

@@junkboxxxxxx : I listened to the final few minutes of the story, and that didn't change my mind. The racism is unnecessary. My advice is to not spend any time listening to this story. It might be better as a read, but the voice actor makes the native sound unintelligent.
Also, sugar doesn't digest properly when combined with meat in the same meal. Sugar isn't supposed to remain in the stomach for long, but a meal containing meat will stay in the stomach for up to 4 hours so that the stomach acid can break down the meat.
