Dang I can't believe the damage I've never seen anything like that... this is making me reconsider getting one for now. I respect how great of a sport you were about it. I would've been really, really, really mad! Great video.
Thank you. It is an incredible amount of damage. Over half the cost of a new truck, about 600 in total damage. The video doesn't even cover all of it. The motor shaft was bent. Traxxas replaced the motor under warranty. thank goodness During the reassembling I found the front diff was binding. Pulled the cover and hello teeth are missing off the ring gear. I just put the cover back on and went to bed.
I shouldn't say over 600. Traxxas did warranty the motor, temp sensor and esc. the esc doesn't count in this case, so minus 250. And well, minus 250 for the motor to it was free. Close to 150 out of pocket. Could have been a lot more if Traxxas told me to take a hike. I got lucky, kinda.
@@usssoupership WOW I would've never expected that... I'm amazed they didn't try to get out of paying for it. You're lucky. Looks like a REALLY fun truggy with plenty of power but it seems they have some issues they need to work out.
i wonder why the xrt gears are always having this problem. my sledge pinion has falling off twice and i just put it back on. i recommend going to lowe’s and get a longer set screw for the pinion. i did that and no problems with it coming off
😱 WTH ... Traxxas gears are always good for a surprise, but never seen THAT DAMAGE. Holy Moly, Lovely to see my ESC mount on your rig 👍💪 I hope you can fix it soon!
Hi. That was a surprise for sure. It will be back and running as soon as I get the motor from Traxxas. they replaced it under warranty. Thank you for commenting, and thank you for that amazing ESC mount.
Wait until the motor bearing seizes and your pinion falls falls off. It only took about 15 uses for it to happen to me. Traxxas did stand behind it after I shipped the motor to Texas! Thank you Traxxas!!!
I'm happy for you that Traxxas is getting you taken care of. To Everyone on here "warranty this"... He swapped out the ESC. The moment he did, they could have told him to suck it.
I really do own this disaster. Traxxas didn't even have to talk to me about it after the ESC swap. Not only did they but we're actually helpful in finding the motor shaft bendage. Then offered to take the whole truck in for repairs. That's incredible service. Im only sending in the motor and ESC for warranty. Why the ESC I don't know. But they want it with the motor.
@ronbusa3735 thank you. I appreciate the sub and glad you liked the video. You are going to love the XRT just make sure to upgrade the pinion and spur gears. And lock that pinion gear on tight. Thanks again and have a blast brother.
I am sorry about your damage. I have a new XRT, and I have installed new battery trays. I will look into changing the gearing too. Thank you for the video.
You are welcome, and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It's much appreciated. What kind of battery trays did you get. The stock ones are kind of a pain.
Thank you for the great review. I think I'll get one.. GREAT value for the money You'll find the tiny screw driver (to adjust the end points) under the remote, just by the batteries bay. unscrew that little knob.
Hi and thank you for commenting. Ohh i love this truck. It just begs to be driven. At least, that's what I tell myself. Seriously, out of all my RCs, that's the one I want to play with the most.
@TRAXXAS #TRAXXAS This is the results .. ONCE AGAIN of your habitual use of "monkey metal". Charge us more, we dont care! STOP USING THIS CHEAP CRAP! This is absolutely unacceptable! *This would have happened regardless of the ESC swap, just at a later date*
I'm sorry, but I don't have any of the repairs on video. It's back together and running. Mostly on the rear tires. It's a beast. I have a video of it up and going again and a parts list in one of the descriptions. Sorry i don't have any repair footage. Thank you for the visit and commenting. Stay tuned!
My XRT is sitting in pieces waiting for a new bell crank, upper and lower front bulkheads and I have shattered 2 wheel rims so far. My older X-Maxx on the other hand will not break. Traxxas plastic and metals have gone severely down hill in durability. Funny thing is my stock gears are about 10 packs in and no issues.
Dang that's that's awful. Hope you get up and running soon. You know I got a few pack run through mine as well. To the point I trusted them gears. I'm not hard on it. Not even close to what I have seen other do. I got very unlucky. Most of the time it's just a stripped gear. Don't trust them like I did. Get some gears.
@@usssoupership Oh yes, I have a bunch of RPM gears just waiting their turn in the X-Maxx and XRT. No rush as the weather here is more suited to flying for a while. 🤘
More than likely the issue that caused all this destruction is the cracked motor mount. It was probably the first thing to give and with the extra flex it took out the gears and the broken gears took out the rest. Too much power and extra traction with the bigger tires for the factory setup motor mount........
Hi. Thanks for the comment. You are right. It could certainly have been the cause. The motor shaft was also bent. Traxxas gave me a warranty on that and a couple of other items. But when I was putting it back together, I found the front ring gear was missing 3 teeth, and the right front axle was bent. It was weeks after i posted the video before i got all the parts and started reassembling. That's when i found the other damage. It's back together now and ripping.
Well I was warned repeatedly about the gears. And I know thats a BS excuse. They should be better quality for that kinda cash. It couldn't cost them that much to put hardened steel gears on it. In turn though. That POS set of of gears is about to cost them a very expensive warranty. They have agreed to warranty the motor and ESC if needed. They even offered to take the whole truck for repair. Warranties like this might just make them upgrade from them 2 bit gears. For what it's worth, it will be worth it when I get it back up and running. It's going to be a nice truck. No Matter what you end up getting make sure you get some good gears. Peace brother.
Not going to lie…just getting into RC now so don’t know much…but I thought that noise was some sort of edited in police siren to signal engine trouble 😂😂
I know what you mean lol. But I kinda knew right away it was the gears. I just didn't know how bad it was going to get. Turns out the motor shaft is bent as well. I wished it were sound effects.
Wow. That puts us in the same boat. Did you contact traxxas? I did, and even though I modified it, they were more than willing to warranty or repair the damages. And did. It's up and running like a champ.
I did but it was a pain trying to find the bulkheads Traxxas had them on back order and none of my local hobby shops had them I finally found them a month later certain parts are in high demand for this rig so they I’m really thinking about up grading a lot of parts
@Noles2321 it certainly needs upgrades. Traxxas would only put it back stock with the same parts that are proven to fail. You might as well get the good stuff. And let it rip.
Having the gear cover is nice for keeping dirt and debris out while your driving, but when those garbage gears let go there is no where for the pieces to go so they make their own path!
GDS makes pretty good spurs. I run theirs on my maxx4s. Had a max6/4092 1650kv in it for a while with a tekno pinion, on 6S. Guessing your running a max5 in this?
Just a max6, default settings. Still more then I bargained for. I'm looking for gears. I will check GDS out. Thank you. What's in your Maxx now? The setup you mentioned. Was it to much.
@@usssoupership I don't know if it was the setup, or just my expectations, but no matter what I did with the suspension, I couldn't keep it from bouncing badly and landing on it's roof half the time off big jumps, which got old and actually tore up the rear of an "unbreakable" body. I also went through 13 bulkheads in a little over a year and 5 or 6 lower arms along with a couple CVD's, CVD cups and 3 or 4 rear diff pinions. So, I put a smaller system in it to run 4S and hopefully keep me from the "big" jumps I do with my outcast and kraton which can handle them just fine all day long... It's still a 1/8th system (blx185/blx4074 2050kv), but the footprint is smaller, the motor is lighter and the 4S packs are also lighter. So, a bit less speed and weight. Although, I did get a vitavon rear bulkhead for a song on facebook and my wife got me the front vitavon bulkhead for me for my b-day next month, so hopefully at least bulkhead damage is a thing of the past... even though they do add some of the weight back that I had removed.
@olds97lss Wow, that was a tone of breakage. All the sudden my problems are not so bad. as i was reading your message, I thought this guy has to have a channel. Sure enough. Nice video's man. I'm learning a lot from youtube. I baby my stuff. It breaks anyway. Might as well send it.
@@usssoupership Yeah, I take a gopro with me for every outing and post up a video of many of the jumps and crashes afterward. Gets a bit monotonous to watch, but I like posting a video just the same to keep track of vehicles changes and how they impact the vehicles. ALso why I put my setup at the beginning and in the text of each video.
Well good call brother. It is bent and Traxxas has given me a warranty claim number. I sent it in today. Without the comments I would have probably just let it go. Thank you.
@@usssoupership of course honestly if I was that company I would send a brand new car and all the upgrades to go with it 100% that's if they value you as a customer if there's no respect and they don't value their customers then what's the point in being in business in the first place they forget why they got into business in the first place he was supposed to be fun and to share that fun with other people somewhere along the line that turned out to be just about making money and screw the customers
@@RiCH_926 they did offer to take the whole truck. I declined. It's already in pieces. Parts ordered. Im sure not happy about all this but I except it and will be glad to at least get a new motor. And hope Traxxas learns a little something out of this to. Hardened gears are cheaper then motors. I know I learned. Thanks again. Solid advice. Check that motor.
Are you saying my gears are to tight. Or at least they sound that way? I'm not sure if they were. Certainly possible. They were set from Traxxas. I never looked. They sounded much better than my Xmaxx does. That thing is roaring loud. How do you set your gears?
@@usssoupership oh I see.. so it is set from stocks right? You didnt change the spuur gear and pinion ?. If so, maybe too much power from the optional ESC to motors pinion, cause spuurs broken.
Looks like a sand casting, they just forgot the metal stuff. What metal was that anyway? That is not bad luck, that is really super cheap materials. But thanks, now know what not to buy. Need more videos like this. Thanks for posting.
Hi, and thank you for commenting. I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm pretty sure that's what happened. And unfortunately it has happened more than once. After a couple more loose pinion gears, I finally have it figured out. I have ground the grub screw flat where it locks on the shaft and only use hardened steel gears. Only 1 broken tooth all summer. no loose pinions. You can bet I'm keeping an eye on it.
@@usssoupership Well, I admire your calmness in handling the situation. Maybe adding some loctite is the only suggestion I would have (I have an xrt on the way and after seeing your video that is my plan)
Bruh, that was a bummer, luckily I have never had an issue with them in my sledge or xmaxx 😅they all use stock gears and I drive them a lot, maybe that was esc way of delivering power or the tires? Anyways just check the bearings of the spur and motor, that was a nasty explosion
I bought an Xmaxx last year but Ive only ran it like 3 times cuz I have not had the time. Are you saying that I need to upgrade my gears since its all original? Just curious cuz I wanna get the XRT or the Kraton 8s and I did notice that you changed the tires to the sledge hammer ones. DO you think that may have been the issue? Im still learning the trade. I been it for a year but have not worked on them that much seeing how I been so busy. Hope to hear back from you about this issue. I had to subscribe cuz how well you took this. LOL , Id been pissed! LOL
Hi, and thank you for subscribing. Yes, I'm saying upgrade to hardened steel gears. It's cheap insurance. having said that, I do think the sledgehammer tires had something to do with this catastrophe. They are bigger and have a bunch more bite, combined with the power of the max6 ESC. It was just to much. The original gears were doing fine in stock setup. To the point I trusted them even though I had been warned about them multiple time. What's not shown in the video is thet that gear failure also bent the motor shaft and broke two teeth off the front ring gear. It was so bad Traxxas offered to repair the whole truck, I just had to send it to them. I ended up just having them warrant the motor and temp wire. They insisted on replacing the esc even though it had no problems. Traxxas warrantied over $500 of parts. I'm incredibly thankful for that. The motor alone is $250. I spent $170 out of pocket on everything else, including upgraded gears. In total, the damages were close to half the cost of a new truck. So my final thoughts are Traxxas should have better quality gears. But since they don't, you might wanna get some. Just in case. Thank you again and I'll get better with the details. I'm a utube newbie. learning every day.
Hi. And Thank you. Im glad you liked the video. Can't say I blame you for holding up on the purchase after seeing a video like this . Most gears just come loose, or a tooth gets whacked. I have a worse case scenario. I probably even hold some responsibility. Bigger tires, more weight and a huge increase in power. I know I'm making excuses. But all was going great in stock form. if I or Traxxas hadn't overlooked a 40 dollar set of hardened steel gears when I was upgrading, this maybe could have been avoided. MAYBE! It's an expensive truck. 1k + batteries if you don't already have them. Another 40/50 dollars for some solid gears isn't so bad. Everyone else I know with an xrt hasn't had any gear breakages. Of course, they could have upgraded. I don't know. And I should mention Traxxas offered to fix it. Thanks again, and whatever you end up getting, make sure it's got good gears
I know Traxxas has pretty colors and appealing looking bodies but that does not mean that they are the best out there. They make everything look blinging and nice for marketing but really it's all just plastic and cheaply put together. Tumi Traxxas is nothing more than an upgrade from a Walmart toy. Get yourself a losi and some arrma stuff and you'll definitely have good RC cars.. I've had quite a few Traxxas cars and one thing that is consistent with Traxxas is you have to buy new parts every week. The first arrma RC that I had lasted about 6 months without any damage or upgrades. And that was running about four packs a day through it. Think the only thing I had break was a rear bumper.
Hello, thank you for commenting. Right now, I have over 50 RCs. All of them are up and running. manufacturers, including losi, associated, hpi, axial, Tamiya, and Im sure im forgetting some like walmart and radio shack. I have owned over 100 rc, and I loved them all and have had problems with them all. I agree with what you are saying. Traxxas could give us better quality in some areas. Like the gears! But in other areas, they are the standard. For example Their plastic parts are way better than armmas. And armma knows it. That's why they redesigned their arms with new plastics within the last year. That being said, armma has fantastic RCs, and I will be adding another one to the fleet very soon. But what one. I like the krayton but the felony is something I have never had. What do you think? What is the best armma I could start with.
@@usssoupership depends on what kind of power you want to run 4s 6s 8s I prefer 6s and 8s. The kraton is the best for speed bashing and the outcast is the bash king but for speed the Typhon 6s is insane
Hi, sorry for the delay. I thought I had replied to you, but I must have goofed up somehow. My apologies. It was around 70 that day. And yeah, that was a disaster for what it was. I was easy on it. I'm still trigger shy with that rig. Thanks for the visit, and I appreciate the comment. Have a good one.
Hi. Not exactly. It's good to go out of the box. But when you buy your first upgrade. Let it be a set of hardened steel gears. I upgrade the power first and it cost me dearly. I basically overpowered the cheap gears it comes with stock. Since then It has gone through another set of gears but no damage to any other components.
Not to mention i have both a kraton k8, traxxas xrt and an X-Maxx. Kraton is way heavier. Kraton parts are more expensive than stock traxxas. Ive broke more on the k8 than I ever have xrt and xmaxx combined. Theres always key upgrades to make for any rc before a first run. It dont matter what the msrp is. Things break its the nature of the hobby. Gotta pay to play. Put a few upgrades from m2c on that xrt and your never gonna worry about those parts breaking again.
Thanks man. That dulls the pain a bit. I had both the XRT and the Kraton 8s on the counter and chose the Traxxas because I thought it would be cheaper to upgrade. And from what you've pointed out, it looks like I may have got that right. If only I had done the upgrades in the right order. Well, I'm learning. Thank you for the info. I will check M2C out and get some parts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You are right, and that is a very good point. If I had heard any grinding, I would have stopped. Listen to it. There was nothing after the initial break. That's why I kept doing it.
Hi. I picked up the tools hear and there. The drivers I think you're referring to are from dynamite. I love tools as much as the projects I'm working on. I'm a tool junkie.
A very similar happened to me when I got my e revo and tried to use self right! (never use self right)… completely seized my motor, blew the spur, spur elastomer, and front and rear diff ring gears exploded…. All of which was replaced for free but it was my SECOND RUN…. Anyway I still have the e revo 2.0 and it’s a monster. Only time it ever breaks is when I hit something like ohhh idk maybe a cinderblock buried in the ground hidden by weeds 😂. Still only cracked a skid, cosmetic damage only 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Dang, that's bad. I'm sorry that happened to you. I swear them gears are made out of moon dust. You would think traxxas would get some better gears by now. I mean they fixed our trucks and how many others. It has to be costly for them. Unless the profit margin is large enough to cover the warranties.
I hope traxxas will view this video . I'm a traxxas fanboy lol I've heard of this happening. Them loose or (lack of a blue thread lock) that set screw started it all!
Dude have them warranty that. Got video proof and it’s just flat land driving. Ridiculous the gears they put on it stock. Traxxas released a hardened steel pair 20/50. They should have included it but no, more money!
@@usssoupership The motor shaft probably bent during the all the "JAMAGE" going on! lol. I would definitely pressure them for warranty on that! You were babying that thing!
@@micron3268 thank you for the advice. I called Traxxas. They gave me a few things to check. I did and The motor shaft is definitely bent. They want me to send them the whole truck. I told them it's already apart and replacements ordered so I'm just sending the motor and ESC. Looks like they will cover that. I have to send it to them first. Then see what happens. It's obviously bent. I couldn't tell spinning it by hand but put some power to it and there's no doubt. Thank you again! Without your comments I probably would have just moved along.
@@usssoupership Traxxas has amazing customer service. I've never once had a problem they didn't take care of. I've seen people bash the living shit out of the XRT, you just had some bad luck.
Sorry for your luck. Main reason I sold my xmaxx was because it broke something everytime I took it out. That gets old and frustrating. My arrmas take a beating and rarely break so that’s my go to now. Hope you get it sorted out
A lot of people think that those gears are just crap and the Traxxas should’ve done a better job at putting gears in there… But are you familiar with a shear pin in a snowblower? Its function basically is to break before anything else that is more expensive breaks… It is my belief that these gears are designed as Traxxas S form of a shear pin I could be wrong that’s just my opinion. Five dollar gear versus a $50 differential or a $50 set of axles is a win in my book.. Although seen so many of these gears break does kind of make me wanna try a belt drive set up on XRT. Also if you are trying to compare speed with out-of-the-box XRT small tires factory speed control compared to big tires and aftermarket speed control you kind of have two different variables here is kind a hard to see you what each one contributes… Maybe next time try it one upgrade at a time at least if trying to compare speeds.. Nice RC dude
Hey man that's an amazing point. And you could be right. In this case it didn't save me from the worst case scenario. And you're also spot on about the upgrades. I'm not sure what ultimately caused the failure. Gear or over stress due to the large tires and increased power. I'm going with all of the above. Brother I sure appreciate your comment.
So sorry bro most definitely replace the gears before u even pull the trigger witch is crap when u spend a 1000 ply on a toy it’s happened to me on a stock system same way it happened to u but mine was the second I pulled the trigger I sent everything back to traxxas fought with my lhs and got a new Xmaxx I will also say take out the pins in the motor mount set the mesh yourself and spend the 100 for a new motor mount bowhouse is a good choice imo I’d spend the money on vitavan gears 46:24 is a great bashing gear set imo I’m running maxx6 on stock motor love it
Thank you for the comment. And thank you for the advice. I will most definitely check them parts out. The XRT back up and running but my Xmaxx needs some love before it goes boom. Thanks brother.

@Xbot4Life it would be a good idea. Cheaper for them in the long run, maybe. Someone mentioned they may have the gears soft to protect even more expensive parts like diff gears and outdrives. The spur acting Like a shear pin of sorts.

Only problem with all of it, not a Traxxas ESC. Learned as well, Traxxas cars need stock Traxxas parts or deep pockets. ESC and engine especially, and make sure you measure before replacing ESC or engine. chassis is like a cheap hotel, no ball room......
Yeah but Traxxas puts the same junk on that machine as well. It's all about what you want. What you want!. Get what you want and go from there. If not you will never be happy with what you settled for.
I don't mean to talk down on traxxas or anything ... But you don't have to worry about this type of thing on an arrma ... stock gears are way stronger .. and if a gear were to break there's no way it would create this much breakage on the vehicle.
I know what you mean. I don't want to talk down on them either. But it is what it is. And I may have a unique failure as far as damage goes. They did offer to take the truck in for warranty repairs. I declined. However they are sending me a new motor, esc and some other part for warranty. I'm thankful for that.

Thank you brother. They were indeed stock gears. And you're right. Some of the parts are salvageable. But I will replace anyway and throw the damaged stuff in the parts bin.
Bro when you spend over $1,000 you shouldn't have to spend any more money for real that's ridiculous they should send you a brand new truck and all the upgrades you need wtf
I already ordered all the parts including hardened steel gear. Totaling close to 125 bucks. I'm going to call them and see what they have to say. I think it may be worse then it appears. Possibly a bent motor shaft or bearing. It's hard to tell and I haven't taken it apart.
I agree. That’s Traxxas problem, it’s always a catch. For a 1000 you definitely should not have to upgrade gears or electronics. Other parts I don’t mind but the main components should be fine .
@@hagerz I don't care what anybody says $1,000 for an RC car is crazy if you're paying that much that means it's the top of the top you shouldn't be breaking things that quick it could have all the the best in it for that price
For the price of these rigs, they should come with better gears right out of the box. Traxxas obviously knows there is a problem with these gears. This is supposed to be a top of the line rig. It should hold up to the big dollar price tag better that that.
Hi, you're right. At least give us some better gears. How about this. Instead of a high-speed gear setup that comes in the box, just put a quality set on it and let us buy the rest when we're ready. They would have a win win situation.
Hell yeah but have you noticed my luck. For example. It froze over and I had 3 trucks stranded out there for an hour. 2 drag slashes with dead batteries and the rescue truck flipped on its side. lol. Eventually after repeated failed attempts with a rope and hook my son just walked out there and picked them up. They were frozen to the pond and must have weighed 10 pounds.
Hi Brandon. Traxxas did offer to repair it. In the end they warrantied out over 500 dollars in parts. Of course that doesn't fix the problems. So I put It back together myself with upgrades. So far it's doing fine. I'm thankful Traxxas helped me out. It could have been very expensive. They didn't have to do anything.
@@usssoupership im surprised they helped considered you caused the damage by modding it. I hope to get an XRT soon and will def be doing gears before ESC/motor.
@Xbot4Life yes me too. I even told them exactly what happened. I'm more than happy about it. You're going to love the XRT. Thank you for the visit, comment, and tip on them gears.

To see if you ran the esc has been ran vs motor ..
Awesome video killer bash session with the XRT damn that thing took a beating hopefully Traxxas will straighten you out!! Great job thumbs up 👍
Thank you. Traxxas did take care of me. It's all back together like brand new with upgraded gears.
Great video and cool attitude about the parts soup explosion 💥 just picked up a XRT and really learning all i can

You'll find the tiny screw driver (to adjust the end points) under the remote, just by the batteries bay. unscrew that little knob.

Would like to see how did you fix it a video.
I'm sorry, but I don't have any of the repairs on video. It's back together and running. Mostly on the rear tires. It's a beast. I have a video of it up and going again and a parts list in one of the descriptions. Sorry i don't have any repair footage. Thank you for the visit and commenting. Stay tuned!
what caused the drive shaft to bend ?
A piece of the gear that ended up in the skid plate must have jammed up the driveshaft on the way through.
With great power comes with great responsibility
Or, in my case comes great destruction. Lol. Thank you for the visit and commenting.
Wow your pretty calm. That's ridiculous and to think I was going to buy one ... Not now.

That’s my plan and keep up the good content

It sure is brother.
As kevin talbot would say those gears are made of monkey metal
I heard him say it. I didn't listen.
Having the gear cover is nice for keeping dirt and debris out while your driving, but when those garbage gears let go there is no where for the pieces to go so they make their own path!
That's a damn point. Lol they tried to go out the top didn't they.
Cool shop mate, epic gear explosion too lol👍
Thanks 👍
I hear a MOD 1- 1.5 gear set coming. Love that traxxas gearing material.
Oh yeah. I went with MOD 1. Hardened gears are on and hanging in there.

@@usssoupership oh I see.. so it is set from stocks right? You didnt change the spuur gear and pinion ?. If so, maybe too much power from the optional ESC to motors pinion, cause spuurs broken.

Thank you, and you're welcome. It's surely some type of garbage metal. I don't know, maybe made out of moon dust.
Crazy to think that it might have all been the result of a loose set screw
@mam362 Thank you. I won't forget the loctite. Looks like you've done your homework. You're going to love the XRT.
It did have a bent motor shaft. Traxxas took care of me and replaced it. I'm going to look closer at them bearings. Thanks brother.
to be honest when you were first kind of low idling and low acceleration it sounded off imo

Hi. Traxxas did indeed cover it. Everything I asked for and more.
You put bigger tires without changing gears ? No wonder
Yep, you nailed it! Unfortunately, it wouldn't be the only mistake I made. SMH. But it's going strong now. Thank you for the visit and commenting.
I'm a utube newbie. learning every day.
great video ty wont be getting an xrt anytime soon

I'm still trigger shy with that rig. Thanks for the visit, and I appreciate the comment. Have a good one.
Wow!! So I am supposed to pay 1k and then replace everything before I run it?
I can never understand when you hear the pinion fall off.. why people keep on hitting the throttle... literally cause more damage then needed.
You are right, and that is a very good point. If I had heard any grinding, I would have stopped. Listen to it. There was nothing after the initial break. That's why I kept doing it.
They run there best right before it all goes south but so well worth it
Man ain't that the truth.
Wow that’s crazy. Where did you get your rc tools from
No it's powdered metal pressed into shape so there is no need of machining.thats what cintered is.

Is that Spur gear plastic?
it's metal. Plastic might have been stronger. Its6 Almost like a pot metal or some type of cast metal. Definitely bot hardened steel.

Most likely was the pinion. So many pieces fell out it was hard to tell. 🤔
I don't mean to talk down on traxxas or anything ...
But you don't have to worry about this type of thing on an arrma ... stock gears are way stronger .. and if a gear were to break there's no way it would create this much breakage on the vehicle.

Wow man we're those the stock gears? Or probably u had the speed gearing but that's all monkey metal from Traxxas lol. Wow I can't believe it hit ur driveshafts. I think your drive shift should be fine Just a little puncture I don't think it's too bad. Just subscribe brother 👊
Thank you brother. They were indeed stock gears. And you're right. Some of the parts are salvageable. But I will replace anyway and throw the damaged stuff in the parts bin.

I've got traxxas cars! Buy man I love them Armas ❤️
I'm looking at getting an Arma. Got any suggestions as to which one to start with.
@@1923arjo no doubt you're right. Cheap 6 dollar gear causing over 400 in damage.
Same thing happened to my Xmaxx. They should give you a better steering servo and upgraded gears for the 1k price tag! Cheep assholes
Be like Jesus walk the water there with it see if can cross the pond
Hell yeah but have you noticed my luck. For example. It froze over and I had 3 trucks stranded out there for an hour. 2 drag slashes with dead batteries and the rescue truck flipped on its side. lol. Eventually after repeated failed attempts with a rope and hook my son just walked out there and picked them up. They were frozen to the pond and must have weighed 10 pounds.
Played for 3 minutes and boom they should send you a new one
Once you hear the gear go its time to let off the throttle. Couldhave saved you some damage 😄
Ya you got a point. It happened so fast. The zinging of the motor afterwards was just free spin. No grinding or contact. Everything happened in the first second. It exploded.
Ummm no...
your pinion gear came off
Bingo. You are right. It took a bunch of parts with it. Thank you for the visit and comments.
You changed the main controller, and also the tires and wheels... That's not an XRT... That's not fair to the XRT. If you had done stock, the gearing might not have blown apart... That said... Awesome vid! lol :) -> Subscribed. heheh :)
Hi, and thank you. I think you're right. It was fine in stock form. No issues Until the tires and esc upgrades. Now I have the gears to go with it and wow! Video coming soon. Thanks for subscribing and great comment.
your motor moving sounds like the frogs croaking in the ditch lol
I must have hit a frog or two.
pinion stripped , spur expolded , driveshaft junk , broke the motor mount , bulk head junk . from driving on flat grass with a bone stock xrt with a swapped out esc . come on the is just b.s.
And bent the motor shaft. I'm still waiting on all the parts. I'm going to be gunshy for a while. Think about it this way. Over 600 dollars of parts being replaced from that one failure. Everything I bought and Traxxas is replacing the motor and esc. Why the esc? They wanted it and I wasn't going to argue.
Shame on traxxas for putting monkey metal on a $1,000 rc, and not only that an 8s rc!
That is true. For that kind of money It should be better quality. At least them damn gears. I severely overestimated them gears.
@@usssoupership Even my 3s slash breaks the metal gears, I went hardened steel and I want to go to 4s with center diff
@@rctrucks2094 dude, 4s on a slash is going to be insane.
@@usssoupership Right the slash was free (With maybe $70 in repair cost) so I thought why not push it's limits lol
@@usssoupership If Kevin Talbot successfully puts 8s on a maxx, I can definitely have a 4s slash lol
Dang! I better get gears for my xmaxx.
Right on. It might save you some frustration.
The xrt is pure doo doo. I had nothing but issues with mine. My outcast 8s and xmaxx never give me these kind of issues.
I feel you. The XTR breaks almost every time I take it out. I never had any bad issues with the Xmaxx other than the steering servo.
the rig looks brand new. what a shame
I found a list of your comments in the RUclips studio. Somehow. I'm sorry I missed them and haven't responded. I try to reply to everyone. I hate I missed some of these. It would have been a good topic to discuss. Anyway, hope you have a good day and thank you for all the comments.
to be honest you shouldn’t have to spend extra money on gears on a 1,000 dollar rig. that’s ridiculous
Almost the exact same thing happened to my Xmaxx. It's par for the course for traxxas. You would think for 1k the quality would be a bit better! Dicks!
Traxxas monkey metal once again, good ole USA quality.🤣
@@jonm2884 contracted out in Mexico 🤣
Not surprised at all,,, ITS TRAXXAS!!! LOL
You know, I wasn't surprised either. I'm still kicking myself for not changing out them gears.
As Kevin Talbot calls it "Monkey metal" Sintered steel. Get them steel gears. Sintered is made from powdered steel. it's cheaper but clearly weaker.
Yeah he does. I am an idiot for not changing them first.
I approve your sticker....
What's up brother. You're the first to comment on it. Thank you, Time to celebrate. Lol.
Wow is that even a max 4? How many cells? Traxxas gears are junk,Revo gears junk, mini revo gears junk, xmaxx gears junk etc….
Hi. It's a Max6 0n 8s. Default setting on the ESC. Thought it would be safe enough. just ripping around on the grass.
