    It was brought to my attention that the 56118 motor may not fit in the 8S Arrma platform. Just wanted to let you know as I was not aware of that

    • @TheParkingLotGarage
      @TheParkingLotGarage Год назад +2

      I can confirm. Note that all 3 of the new gen 2 motors (1100, 800, and 650kv) are the same length (ie 119.2mm). It hits the steering linkage, and you cannot dremel out enough material to fit it.
      You’d think hobbywing would have tried to make them just slightly shorter so that they could sell to all the Kraton/Outcast population. Huge missed opportunity IMO

    I’m a huge fan of Castile Creations products, but since Hobbywing dropped the new lineup, I bought the Max 4 combo 560kv for my Losi DBXl-E 2.0 and upgraded from the XLX2 1100kv combo to the Max 5 G2 800kv combo for the Kraton 8S. I can honestly say Hobbywing is killing it right now.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Год назад +2

      Hobby wing is definitely making some pretty compelling options lately. Not only are they upping the game on their high-end stuff but they're also upping their game on the budget stuff. Castle really just doesn't have an answer to a lot of what they're offering.

      Thanks :-) I don't do links for two reasons. First I don't want people to think that I'm making money off of anything that I'm discussing or reviewing because I don't and second links are constantly changing so if I put something in the description now it was a good chance in a week or a month it won't be valid anymore. Usually a Google search will provide what you need but right now this is so new that Google hasn't even caught up yet. You can find it right on hobby Wing USA's website though. Much better than castle cremations for bashing. Went thru 2 XLX2 in my outcast 8s, swapped to max5 geared to go the same speed, haven’t lost one yet. Guy on the phone at castle says it’s technically only a 160a continuous ESC but they don’t rate it since it doesn’t have current protection for speed running.
    Current max 5 is 200a, So 250 amps from the new max5 will be even better 💪

    • @xXYannuschXx
      @xXYannuschXx Год назад +2

      Guy from my basher group has lost 3 XLX2 now.
      The fact that this thing is only a 160A continous ESC, despite running so cool, is mind boggling; especially for the price they are asking.
      So far only one MAX5 broke in my entire basher group, which was due to too tight cables pulling on the connector sideways.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Год назад

      @xXYannuschXx I know the XLX2 had some issues in the beginning but I've seen a lot fewer torched recently.
      That being said Castle seems to have quite a lot fewer built-in protections on their ESCs which is why most speedrunners use them. This tends to lead to them catastrophically failing more often though. Thanks for watching!
