Love and miss the class 50s. I spent many summer Saturdays at Exeter watching these beautiful engines climbing up to central station. I was a young lass back then but still remember the sound of them and the diesel in my hair!

When I was a kid spotting at Reading station, I preferred the sound of the throaty 50s more than any other, even though they were dirty buggers!
Rode behind a lot of 50's in the 80's Torquay/Newton Abbot to Bristol TM and Bristol TM to Gloucester the good old days!

There are 2 quite distinctive sounds to a 50, which is illustrated quite well by 50015 and 50008 leaving Highley. 15 shares its camp with 7, 26, 33 and 49. All the others have the other sound.
