If anything, this scene testifies how twisted Jax is because of Gemma and how toxic and sick she truly is…she basically goads him into killing her, knowing how he’s struggling to kill her, his own mother. The woman who raised him, loved him, fed him, clothed him…but also made sure he was a killer, without remorse. Which he was, to everyone else, but his family (Clay doesn’t count). That he would have no sense of guilt for running guns or drugs, or any other type of illegal crime he committed (theft, murder, assault), for the sake of this lifestyle of being an “outlaw,” because Gemma wanted her fantastical-life of being the baddest bitch (the Queen) in town.

She knew her time was up and it was the easy way out; its the life; and she has made peace that with her decisions have brought it upon her and its for the good of the club and coaches jax and eases him into it

    God, I love this show.
It is still, to this day, my favorite show I've ever watched.
It isn't perfect, but it's great.
The interesting thing to me about this show, as someone who's watched it in its entirety, multiple times, is realizing that the show was never about Jax.
    It was never about Gemma.
    It was never about Clay.
It was about the damage that the ones closest to you can do, and how to cope with forgiveness and guilt.
    Its cyclical.
Clay and Gemma are the reason that Jax's father is dead.
Clay betrays Jax, and ultimately the club, in order to protect himself from the truth of what he's done.
Gemma then tries to right her wrongs by killing Tara, because she truly did believe that Tara was a rat.
Jax kills Gemma in order to get vengeance for Tara.
Jax then kills himself to end the cycle.
But is the cycle really broken?
The only thing that Abel and Thomas know are death and destruction, the same as their father, and his father before him.
After all, they are the "Sons of Anarchy".
In every sense of the word.
And so, the cycle is bound to repeat.
I absolutely hated the ending to this show, the first time I watched it.
    I was disgusted.
It felt like a cop out.
In reality, it couldn't have ended any other way.
From the very start, the writing was on the wall.

Jax loved his mother and was willing to give his life for her, but when she killed his wife, she actually killed a lot of what he loved most. Finally we come to that scene in the garden, the final goodbye of mother and son, you can see that after what she did to him, he didn't want to kill her and is hesitant to do it. Immediately after he decides to kill her, he looks at her body and knows that he has done something that cannot be undone. The mother who raised him, loved him, knew each other for so long, just left in an instant. I like the theme when he looks up at the sky shortly after, it will seem like the gemma's soul has merged with his father and tara, and he knew he would be joining them soon.

I was begging for Jax not to do this. Not to Usher or to Gemma. Just for once, walk away and accept things as they are.

That is an insult to Tara, who was murdered by Gemma, and the SAMCRO members who lost their lives in the violence caused by Gemma's miscalculations and lies...

@@92lightningspeed16 I get where you're saying and I agree Gemma needs to face the consequences of her actions, but she's still his mother by the end of the day. No amount of disownment or denying her existence will ever change that.
By this point, Gemma's fate was sealed. She was going to prison because Usher was going to take her in. Plus, she was involved in the murder of the Lieutenant Roosevelt, she was done for.
I wanted Jax not to do it because this was a line that no one could come back from. He had a choice to stop the violence, but he instead decided to do it.

@@tjjordan4207 Gemma stopped being a mother when she brutally murdered Tara, who was also a mother like her, over a lie that she snitched on Jax. Tara just wanted her children away from the chaotic life of being part of a motorcycle club involved in organized crime, a life Jax refused to leave. Gemma signed her death warrant after she murdered Tara, as well as the countless lies she told Jax about that caused unnecessary deaths on both SAMCRO and rival gang members when SAMCRO went after the rival gangs deemed responsible for Tara's murder. Gemma being a "mother" was not an excuse for resorting to murder or spewing lies just to save her own skin.

That is a depressing life to live, constant war with others and yourself, no peace of mind, it all leads to a dead end one way or another. I could never be in a gang of any sort. It’s just pointless existence of hell if the end result is death.
