If you do not have any academic or non academic awards, Let your CV be well written, structured and the best it can be. Your CGPA of a second class upper in addition to your well written non academic documents should suffice

Yes. The idea of your project is to give insights to your research strength. Including it will help the admission office understand how good your research abilities are and hence open you up for consideration. I hope this isn't coming late.
