No joke: I followed all your instructions this morning, and got messaged by recruiters TWO HOURS LATER! You are awesome

Recruiters reach out to me all the time and 0 of them have actually helped me. The reality is that 95% of them don't read your profile; they simply put shit into a seach bar and let an algorithm do the rest for them. Why do I know this? Because I job shadowed 3 recruiters of different companies but all of them had the same thought processes.
If you still want a recruiter to somehow find you, I'm gonna consolidate these steps.
    1) Profile & (maybe) Background photo: Its fucking stupid and arbitrary, but after the recruiter gathers his/her list of profiles using an algorithm (based on key words), they click on most of the people with profile pics and briefly view their profile. Having a background photo isn't the end-all-be-all, but makes the page "look" a little better.
    2) A SIMPLE Headline: Recruiters DGAF about "turning ideas into action insert fake motivation bullshit here blah blah blah" headlines. They care about the job they're trying to fill out. Put your job title in your headline and try to make it generic. For example, my job title is "Senior Market Field Specialist". I knock on doors and sell life insurance to old people, so I just put "Life Insurance Agent".
    3) Use the drop down menu, especially in the "work experience" section: This ties back to trying to make your job title "generic". If your job title isn't in the drop-down menu, then the algorithm will have a difficult time pairing you up with a job. If McDonalds is looking for a manager, their algorithm is searching for someone with "manager" in their name, not "Operations and Team Leader Specialist".
    4) Just be GENERIC! This is the number one advice. Your LinkedIn page isn't technically directed towards a recruiter, its directed towards an Algorithm. Don't waste 2 hours trying to make every part of your LinkedIn appealing; thats what your resume is for. Just make your LinkedIn visually appealing with a profile pic & background photo, a generic headline that could fit every job description thats similar to what you're looking for, and make sure your shit is available on a drop-down menu.
    5) Your previous experience isn't about what you do, it's how you say it: I don't sell life insurance, I "make a difference in the senior market by providing protection for their families". You don't work the cash register at McDonald's, you "specialize in front-of-house technology and provide a direct line of communication between cLiEnTs and production manufacturing specialists (line cooks) for a $183B market leader"
The job-search process is 100% loaded with bullshit. It fucking sucks. If you don't have experience, it especially sucks because theres no way of judging you. Just being transparent, theres not much that can help other than crossing your fingers, praying, and/or hoping you get lucky. If you don't have experience with any job, your best bet is to simply go get a minimum wage job and somehow apply that knowledge into an entry-level role after you gain some "life experience". Another option is to go to trade-school. Realistically, trade-school is the best way of gaining the skills to prepare for a job.
To all the people who are struggling to find a job, I empathize and feel for you. I've recently been in this situation. This process is 100% broken and filled with fake ass people. That is the reality. Being said, it may not seem like it but there are some good recruiters and good people in this world. Just be positive and continue putting in the effort to find a job, or put yourself in a situation to find a job (whether its going to trade school, finding paid/unpaid internships (watch pursuit of happiness), or getting a minimum wage job and hope you fall in love with the industry you're in. Gain that life experience, make money, and be happy. I hope and pray you all find what you're looking for!

Hi Reni-this was the BEST video ever! I never had a Linkendin page mostly because I been on my job 30 plus years BUT I don' have the years to retire yet. I just graduated with my masters two weeks ago and decided to see what else is out there. I would pause and update, pause and update until I finally got it done. I was a little concerned about the open to work but did recruiters only and the emails started coming in. Happy New Year and keep the content coming-Blessings!!!

When I was working, I loved getting my paycheck every week. I loved hitting the malls and shopping for clothes. Throughout high school, I struggled to define a career for myself. After high school, I worked through a temp agency, and I got the opportunity to work in some cool industries. I longed for a permanent career. At the temp agencies, I did administrative support jobs. I wish I could say I worked one job like my siblings, but I bounced around no fault of my own. I was always trying to be perfect. Those adjectives looked good on my resume, punctual, team-player, hard working, no long lunches or breaks; always working and when I'm done, I ask my supervisor if there was anything else I could do? Some jobs were short term. Some jobs, the supervisor or boss wanted me to stay longer or wanted to hire me. In your experience is it typical to have a person calling someone's job to try to make someone look bad or get someone fired? I thought everyone in the country and the world had to find some means of earning a living after high school.

    • @xoReni
