Hi, Saw you are using same setup as me, Can you please tell me if you can trigger record from the Camera when using Pro-Res-RAW, I keep getting "This operation is disabled while outputting raw data" and yes I have setup everything according to Atomos recommendation
@@patricknejad6779 it’s not intuitive but you need to enable timecode and enable it on HDMI. You’ll then be able to trigger record on the Atomos from your S5.

For 12bit regular could you use a cheaper monitor With the s5?
Interesting....you instruct us to "turn power save / sleep mode off"....but when an HDMI and or the Atomos is plugged into my S1H...it disables the Sleep mode

Hmm, my Ninja's getting nothing but a colourful distortion... maybe the smallrig cables don't have the bandwidth for RAW?
Thanks for the guide. If I don't use a Mac, should I choose Apple ProRes RAW or Avid DNx for the activation?
OK, it seems that ProRes raw is the only choice for now.
It's not a problem. I am editing only on PC's and recording everything in prores. And also don't use mac. Premiere pro has prores on windows too, davinci does not, but if you are using davinci that is also not a problem.
If you don't use a Mac, you should check Apple Prores RAW support on Adobe Premiere, since you won't be able to use FCP X... Alternatively you can record Prores 422 HQ or Prores 4444 with V-Log enabled, this will work on Premiere, DaVinci resolve and Avid on Windows. Avid DNx would also work fine, on both Mac and Windows platforms, but Prores 422 HQ is usually the industry delivery format, so might be better to work in the Prores ecosystem even if not shooting RAW

so 44 minutes on a 1TB drive for 5.9K RAW right? I think where this Camera trumps bmpcc6k is that now it can do both 6K and 4K raw.
And having autofocus and 5-axis-in-body-stabilization :)
I have a Problem. I try to record on Atomos for 5 days, via panasonic s5 6K video but still with poor results. I have incredible color noise in the image. I try it with iso 640 up to iso 4000 but I always have a terrible color noise in the picture ...

Hi, do you know in the case if I want to use the ninja v just for monitoring (so not shooting on RAW or ProRes .. just I want to record internally with my camera sd card) how can I do playback?

Please note that you can playback the video from the camera by going to the playback menu within your camera, the recording will be shown on Ninja V.

Question, when using v-log and 10 bit the external recording has a very weird colour banding issue with mixed lighting (no issue when recording internally). Any idea what it could be?
Literally just got my ninja v+ and was doing some messing around in a dim room and saw the same thing. I assumed it was noise?
@@patrickmccall6212 It was not. It's a magenta/cyan banding on warmer tones. Atomos told me the unit is faulty and I'm sending it in for repair soon. Let's see

Do you have a link to where I can buy this specific HDMI cable for the Panasonic S5 to Atomos Ninja? I've purchased a few HDMI cables that had specs that should have been able to handle the RAW data coming out of the S5, but they all have inconsistent connections and are therefore unusable. Thanks!

@@osaket this official Atomos cable did the trick for RAW video - Atomos AtomFLEX PRO Micro HDMI to Full HDMI Coiled Cable (12 to 24"). The only issue is that it's not great for a gimbal set up as the cable is a bit heavy. But it's been perfect for filming raw video with the Atomos Ninja V.

Hi , the ninja v shows no input when plugged to S5 when the camera is on "manual video mode" but when i turn the camera dial to any other option such as S,A,M, the ninja shows whats on the camera..when i press record, the file comes out as HD/59.94 rec 709, codec apple prores 422 hq, but not 4k or 5.9 prores raw. Any solution to this issue?

I got a problem I can't solve so please advise me if you can..On my S5 as soonest I activate HDMI raw on output I loose the signal on ninja completely. In general mode I'm getting the signal no problem...Ninja and S5 are both on latest updates and prores raw is activated on ninja....The only weak link is the HDMI cable( just bought a cheap generic cable). Could the cable be the problem? If I need another cable which one should I buy? Thanks
you need a atomos HDMI cable for RAW or 60fps for it to work.
You should NOT need a cable. It worked for me when I've gone to Atomos Input tab and changed the HDMI setting to Compatibility.

Soo will there be prores raw for the S1 tho?
The next update for the S1 in the first half of 2021 will include 5.9k RAW for the S1 to a Ninja V
and technically also 5.9K/C4K and 4K 50/60p internal 420 10bit. You can find the info from official website, search for Lumix S1 firmware 2.0

Panasonic S5 raw doesn't work on ninja v after new 10.74 update. Panasonic triggers it but ninja doesn't respond. I had to revert to previous update.....
are you still experiencing this issue ? for the life of me, I cant get my S5 to trigger record on the ninja v+ using ProRes-RAW even after downgrading to 10.73

ATOMOS can you please answer me. I have lumix s1 and they announce future updates on this camera such as raw recording over HDMI. But they always point out specially NinjaV. I myself want to buy infero or shogun 7. Will I be able to shoot raw with those monitors ? Or it’s only with ninja V ? Thank you! Best regards
Thanks, that's really a great feature for S5 users. Do you have plans to support the CinemaDNG format also? If the camera is sending a raw video signal, this should be possible? ProRes RAW is a closed format and there is currently no implementation for Linux users available.

Using the kit lens 20-60mm at its widest, the 5.9 raw is seeing a wider view and the distortion is terrible. When shooting internal OR prores 10 bit, the distortion doesn't exist and I see what I usually see at 20mm. Whatever is making the distortion adjustment in the camera isn't transferring to the Ninja. Is this a true statement? What workflow do you suggest go correct distortion?
I believe this is because Raw formats, even compressed Raws like ProRes Raw do not pick up in camera post processing details like these and are designed to allow the user to apply it in post - this applies to noise reduction as well. I.e. out of the box the image you see from raw will tend to look worse than directly whatever comes from internal camera processing - however when you finally work with it in post - you can push it to be way better than what the camera is chucking our at you with its own processing
It’s because in-body recording corrects the lens distortion, raw does not.

Yes, it's possible to do 10 bit 422 at 4K 60P. You can check the specifications sheet on the website... With Prores RAW (12 bit) you can output 4.1K 17:9, 5.9K and 3.5K anamorphic...
@@vaidehiarts I shoot real estate and need the 10 bit 4.2.2. 60p, but also the widest possible coverage of the sensor... when using the atmos at these high settings is it still an APSC crop?

The panasonic s line facebook group its full of complains of users getting skip lines in the video while using the ninja V and the S5 and S1 (not sure about the S1H). This makes this combo complete unreliable and useless !
