    Can you use the record button on the gimbal handle? Or do you still have to use the touchscreen/volume. Can’t find any gimbal with a high payload that does this

    Would love to hear your thoughts on using the DJI RS 3 Mini with a smartphone. I’m using a Hohem iSteady M6 and finding it struggles with a larger phone with lenses + ND filter. The plastic arms tend to flex while walking creating springy bouncy like footage. It’s fine without the lenses though.

      I’ve not used one, but familiar with it. It’s got a little less payload than this Scorp 2 and is the traditional upright design. I think it lets you quickly go into vertical shooting mode, and the Scorp doesn’t. The Scorp has the built-in AI tracker, which is great and it’s very easy to use. I own both brands and so in the end it’s subjective and DJI are very solid, but I personally like this Scorp 2 a lot and it offers more and holds more. But you really can’t go wrong with either.

    Thank you for the review. Do you think it could works for shooting vertical with the beastgrip side handle and beastgrip 0.75x lens and filter ? I can do it on the RS3 with pro max 11.

      The weight would be no problem at all, the only thing that might be tricky is those type of setups can get top-heavy and so balancing it might be challenging. Might need to use a counterweight, but again it can definitely handle the payload.

    Hey. Great video!
    I wonder if you could help advise me. I have a question that I’m curious about.
    I’m using the iPhone 14 Pro with the Anamorphic Moment 1.33 Lens, with the VND Filter and Cinebloom 10%, and have recently purchased the Moment Pro Tripod Landscape MagSafe Mount, which is compatible with tripods, I was wondering if it would be the correct addition for the Gimbal or if I would require a cage?
    I already have the MOVI Freefly but it requires counterweights (which I now unable to purchase due to being sold out). I was wondering if you could clarify what I might need.
    Many thanks in advance!

      With that set up I would probably recommend a cage or at very least a more secure mounting system. Whenever I’m adding filters to lenses I don’t really trust the MagSafe setups. They’ll hold it, but if you bump it or turn too fast it can fall off. I mainly use those in static shooting situations with minimal gear attached. So long story short, yeah I would recommend a cage. The one I use this video is a good universal one from Beastgrip and there’s a link in the description if you’re interested.

    I also use this gimbal with my phone due to the weight of some of the lenses i use for freewell but unfortunately I found out the shutter button is not compatible with phones so i use an external one separately. If anyone has found a way to get the shutter button to work on an iPhone please lmk!

    Love your review on this, I use iPhone 15 pro max with a small rib cage. When I looked on the scope 2 website it says it’s not compatible with phones where as the mini is. But I think I prefer this one so I’m a bit confused can I attach my iPhone to this out of the box ?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  Месяц назад +1

      I’m guessing they just mean from a remote control point of view? Otherwise really any gimbal is compatible with any camera. The only thing I would say is adding a little bit of weight with the cage is preferable. And actually the heavier duty gimbals are what I prefer. A lot of those companies don’t realize or understand the accessories we can now add like lenses cages, etc. But yeah, this is a great gimbal.

    Thank you. I just wanted to order it and then at the last moment I saw that it was incompatible with the phone, and I need it for a camera with a lens that is heavy, and I also need it for a phone. The mini model does not support heavy cameras. Good thing I saw this video because you proved that it can be used with a phone.

    • @jacermtir1214
      @jacermtir1214 29 дней назад

      @Twixstah actually, it wasn't a big hustle, just a phone mount that has a screw on the bottom to attach to the gimbal plate and that's all! After using it, I must say that a phone rig should do better for shooting with accessories, but I haven't got one yet.

    Seeing as how they're competitors on price, the obvious question is how the Scorp 2 compares to the DJI RS 3 Mini.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah good question, the Scorp 2 holds more weight and I just really like its design better than the traditional upright gimbals, but that’s a subjective call - and then the Scorp 2 has the great built-in AI tracker. It’s really offers a lot at a competitive price.

  • @scrow9

    I think for demo purposes this iphone and cage rig was TOO light and stripped down still - on mine I would probably have an additional lens with ND filter, a microphone setup, maybe even a additional battery and media storage external to the phone itself

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 месяца назад +1

      For sure, you can put all that on there. But using a cage and a lens like I showed here with a lot of gimbals it’s too top-heavy and will not work or barely support it.
