Photos and footage look fantastic Blake, if it were I, I’d have sent my daughter into the yard to find some bugs. A squirming insect on a green screen, 50fps conformed - sounds like a cheap home made Godzilla movie waiting to be made!
Yeah insects and flowers and plants, etc. are obviously big in the macro world, but this thing is kind of different… I’ve shot a lot of traditional macro, this is macro on steroids. And you gotta get really close - typically touching the object which ain’t great for bugs in my opinion. Lol. But is pretty crazy if you look at that last shot where I zoom in on the 48MP photo. It’s wild to think that 2018 date is on a penny and it’s now full screen in 4K.
What kind of setup did you use to capture video? If I understand correctly the macro lenses need to be touching what they're shooting. Are you just sliding the lens across the quarter, or do you have some fancy tripod attachment?
Totally DIY I was just sliding the objects around or moving the table or placemat. It doesn’t technically have to touch (though it definitely can), but they’ve got to be extremely close almost touching for sure.
I think the on-lens ring light is a problem. Maybe using other lights further away from the lens could make things look better and help capture more detail and texture.
If you’re against flat objects there’s no way to get any other light to it. The lens literally is flush with the surface and so you have basically zero exposure, thus the light is needed.. but, if you’re able to push against stuff that allows light like the screen or similar then there is ambient light. And you can obviously crop stuff out that you don’t like. I showed the entire image for demo purposes.
Love your videos! I’ve been eagerly waiting for your comparison between Moment 58mm and Beastgrip 1.7x. Will it be released soon? If not, could you please tell me which one you like more? I need to buy one soon.
I’m doing a big comparison that won’t be out for a little while because I’m waiting on the lenses, but between those two telephoto I would definitely go with the Beastgrip, especially if you have a 14 or 15 series iPhone. I did a video on the T series here… ruclips.net/video/87mEbQ8kGXI/видео.htmlsi=5h3YSDQFjQpdv1qQ The main drawback to the beastgrip is you have to use the cage, but the telephoto works very well. Thanks for watching!
Yes if you’re using a 15 series iPhone. Unfortunately the Moment has some edge softness and aberrations on those phones. The Beastgrip is clean and sharp edge-to-edge.

Flowers. The chair and a mosquito screen were rookie choices.
Nice! I got my microscope lens a few days ago.
That is actually unexpectedly Good. Well Done.
Gracias 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Is it just me or do I see sales in the moment company going crazy with their new T series lenses
I’ve seen them promoted quite a bit, yeah.

@@iphoneographersAwesome. I really appreciate your advice!
Would you still prefer Beastgrip 1.7x to Moment 58mm if the main goal is DOF and bokeh?

@@iphoneographersThank you again!
Thank you for posting...
I can’t get mine to focus
You have to basically be right up against the object.
3:53 bro that beat crazy
Hi. I have a question. There is a similar lens from neewer. it has a 45 zoom and is cheaper. could ou might make a comparison?
