    I just bought the 3" Barkeep for $159 today, the reason being I have 2 semi auto 22lr pistols and sometimes they are finicky with ammo, so this way I can shoot the ammo that the others reject, at least that's what I told the wife

      since the heritage stuff is made to do both the 22LR and 22WMR, the barrels are a bit larger bore so they can handle the 22WMR. now they are not the most accurate things anyway BUT typically becuase of this slightly larger bore, the 22WMR is more accurate than the 22LR

      you can get all of that from them so not sure they will ever release one that comes with all that, why would they if they offer it secondary, you know. i actually had that conversation with then during the Shooting Sports Showcase. they could either jack up the price to include all that OR just offer it aftermarket for those who want it. the later makes more business sense if you think about it. i 100% agree on the birds head for sure. it would be much better with that. sadly they did not send me one and i am not going to spend money to trick out something that may get sent back once the testing is done.

      interesting... i know i once had a FIE Tex 22 which was the rough rider before it was a rough rider and it seemed a bit more refined as well. i think the time frame you are talking about is around the time Taurus took over, could be wrong on that but think it is anyway. companies will always cut corners on the cheaper stuff, especially when it comes to costly things like refinement. that is why the high dollar stuff is so high dollar is it requires a human to sit there polishing and fitting and stuff, time/labor is always more money

    Was lucky enough to get one super tight clearances. At about 2k rnds since I first saw this. Was my first purchase of a revolver and i definitely got a golden egg. My other rough rider will hang up using cheap ammo. Case swells sometimes. The barkeep has had zero malfunctions going on 2k rnds exactly. Was also some dollars more. Go figure

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  2 года назад +1

      cases swelling in 22LR is pretty common, i have quite a few revovlers, even my S&W 617 (not a cheap or faulty revovler) where it happens now and again. keep in mind you don't get anything dirtier than 22LR, so keeping the cylinders brushed clean can help too. glad your are enjoying them, for the money, the heritage stuff is hard to beat, is it S&W, no way but they are a whole lotta fun for not a lotta money.

      @@CloverTac absolutely. This was a month ago I snagged that. I had the itch to plink on my days off. I got the revolver itch so I scooped a m200 by ria and while going out with it is more expensive per box that thing is a hoot too haha. Really fun. Single action trigger is so so soft. Have a try on one of those. For around 180 you'll say cool another trusty 38. And again is it a smith ? No but we saved ammo money so we are the true winners

      yep, have played around with several of the RIA revolvers over the years and just not a fan. if i am being honest... i have seen a few issues pop up here and there in relation to quality of metal and specifically the firing pin. RIA does make some decent stuff, the AG shotgun and AL revovlers for example seen to be pretty solid, better than the M series. if you are having good luck with it, cool, not for me though.

    Just ordered myself one. I think these are cool, and will make quite a keepsake. With that TINY little barrel, not sure what folks are expecting as far as accuracy at any range beyond PERSONAL DEFENSE range, which is the range for which this firearm is designed (not that anyone is really going to use this for personal defense, but it's the role these are meant to fill).

    • @PetuniaIii-pd1ww

      Yeah, 10 yards is long range with the barkeep...we were watching a western the other night and the bartender had a sawed off double barrel that he reached for too late (that's Hollywood for you), but the barkeep is that situation in mind, say 3-10 feet, and I would think back in those days it was probably in a larger caliber...a sawed off .45 peacemaker...?

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  2 года назад +2

      bit of a silly question, it is a firearm, so regardless of shot placement, yes, can be deadly for sure.... that said, would not be anywhere near my first choice on a defensive firearm for several reasons, first of which is reliability issues with rimfire ammunition. no matter how good a firearm is, for defensive use it must be very reliable, otherwise it is useless in my opinion. of course. end of the day though, something is always better than nothing

      @CloverTac  2 года назад +4

      @@COWScankill2 ok, so, we are really getting into some dicey stuff to be talking about here on RUclips. and to that i am always up for a conversation through PM, DM on ohter socials, email, the clovertac website, phone, text, whatever. to speak to the human skull, there are stories all over the place of various calibers 9mm, 556 and more basically entering under the skin, riding around the skull and exiting without any damage to the skull. so, my take on any defensive tactic is to go center mass, biggest target, mitigatet he chances of a miss, etc. all of this of course is under the assumption of legal defensive use... which is a whole other can of worms depending on wherd you live. pretty much any trainer, instructor, etc will likely tell you the same thing. i can promise you, no one wants to get shot center mass with a 22, heck i ain't gonna stand there and let you shoot me with a pellet rifle.

    I bought one of these, and the shots seem to spread less after about 75 rounds. Maybe it just takes practice to adapt to the short barrel and rudimentary sights, or maybe it has a “break in” period, but for simple plinking it’s a good time!

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  3 года назад +1

      no doubt both break in and practice are both contibuting factors, yep, spot on. for me, i have shot many thousands (tens of thousdans maybe) of rounds through single actions with old school sights and have yet to get any better, they just do not agree with me. i do a lot better shooting at steel to hear it go ping rather than trying to group on paper but to you point of just having a good time, yeah, plenty good enough for that for sure

The pearl grips looked way better in the pictures than in real life and I upgraded to aftermarket checkered wood grips in the birds head configuration. Great feel with the birds head and checkering. This is wrong... there is actually 4 clickswith the hammer pulled back... and if you do it right...and watch the cylinder rotate...you will see the cylinder turn a half turn from the 3rd click to the 4th click... And this could be why people experience a failure to fire sometimes...because they aren't making sure the hammer is pulled back all the way... or...the frame screws have come loose and not allowing the hammer to fall fully on the firing pin... i am not really sure what you are talking about here but then again, that is why i made a whole different video trying to explain what i mean by "clicks" and "positions"... sometimes putting things into words is the worst way to communicate something. i think it is sorta matter of symatecs with the heritage. mine has 3 positions but 4 clicks. when you pull back slow, that 3rd click drops the cylinder stop and does lock somewhat into place but the final click is the hammer set and happen by putting just a little more pressure on the hammer after that 3rd click. so it could be said that the 3rd and 4th click happen during the 3rd position. if you are actually cocking it at a normal speed, that would pretty much be the case, almost simultaneous. at any rate, different single actions act different, as pointed out in my clarification video with the ruger vagquero, it is a whole different animal enirely.

      Also, it doesnt have one of those safety levers either. I dont think it came out with one.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  3 года назад

      the safety lever is not on every single one out there, pretty much just the heritage stuff and the older versions that pre dated heritage. so my questions on the swing out part, is it missing or was it ever there in the first place? assuming it times correctly and locks up tight, it is probably safe to shoot either way. the biggest deal with that swing out part is keeping a round from sliding backwards which would in turn stop the cylinder from turning, not really a safety issue there. feel free to hit me up through other social DM, the website, etc and send me some pics, i would be able to tell you a little more from those.

    Are these finicky with 22LR ammo?
    Are they good for concealed carry?
    If so, I might get one especially considering how cheap these are.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  2 года назад +4

      revolvers in general are not picky with ammo, so no issues to speak of there. everyone has to make a decision on carry or defense for themselves, weighing out all the data. i would never tell anyone that rimfire is optimal for defense. the reason is that rimfire it notorious for going click becuase of inconsistent priming. now, this could be mitigated a bit by using some good ammunition, no check that, great ammunition, like the new Federal Punch (have a video on that here on the channel). but ultimately for me it is not worth the risk, especially when the small caliber and lower capacity come into play as well. if i am going to be limited to 6 rounds, would much prefere the reliability of a centerfire cartridge and the umph of something like at least a 38 special. but again, that is me, i had much rather see someone have something for their protection vs nothing at all. great questions, thank you!

      @@CloverTac I dont' mean any disrespect nor do i mean to be argumentative. but i challenge the belief that rimfire is notorious for misfire because of the priming. not to say it never happens because it certainly does but I don't believe its nearly as often as many stories have it. at least for me it hasnt been that bad. Ive shot many thousands of 22 lr rounds, the gamut of different brands from cheap remington thunderbolts, different bulk packs, and what i consider the best 22lr ammo which is anything made by cci, and at the very worst i may have 10 not go off out of every thousand. if i am thinking right this comes to 1/10th of `1%. not bad. and oddly enough the last 3 misfires i has were 3 in a row out of the same 100 round box of cci mini mags earlier this past summer. admittedly those 3 consecutive misfired were in my marlin model 60 semi auto which is very reliable and accurate. i think finicky semi auto rifles are more the culprit that rimfire ammo itself. it makes me wonder if many of those stories about rimfire ammo failure come from personal experience, or second hand knowledge. again, no disrespect intended, rather a personal opinion developed over 50 years of plinking

    Since the first time I saw these, I knew the stupid safety, and a lack of an ejector rod was what it would take to keep from ever buying one.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  3 года назад +1

      price, nostalgia, etc are reasons, maybe not yours, to each their own... you can't get a barkeep or shopkeeper style in Wrangler though, at least not yet. plus, the difference can be considerable depending on what is on sale, what is in stock, etc and at any rate differences in price point can be enough for some people to go with a heritage... again, different strokes for different folks 😂🤣

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  3 года назад +2

      no, i do not have a 22 wmr modell, this is the one they sent me. now they do offere the cylinder for thatt and also the birds head grip as well both in aftermarket. they do make some nine shot versiions of the rough rider and while i get your annoyance, these are designed to mimic an old cowboy six shooter, not be a modern adaptation. so being only 6 rounds makes sense form that perspective.
