The actual manuals for the device seem to be correct and omit this statement, but the DJI Beginners Guide for Pocket 3 is incorrect. DJI needs to vet their info better. 🤨

follow mode will unlock the tilt axis, not sure if that's what you are looking for
Were you using continuous autofocus with the push in, pull out shots? I'm looking forward to trying some of these when the order comes in.
yes I usually have continuous autofocus on, unless it demands me to switch it
Great techniques.
Another approach I've heard about to reduce up and down movement of the gimbal is to set it to FPV mode, hold the OP3 like a flashlight and walk forward. This should smooth out the up and down motions. I haven't tried it yet, because I'm waiting for B&H to restock the OP3 so I can get mine.
yeah that can help too but setting it to FPV it's a complete different mode that will not be what most people are looking for because all the axis are going to be unlocked and you don't get to have your horizon straight
@@OttoJulian_ Yes, but in most gimbal shots where you're following someone, the eyes are on the person not the horizon. I'm thinking about it from the standpoint of a filmmaker. There are times when the horizon is not in sight, so it doesn't affect the shot.
@@AllThingsFilm1 agreed about a filmmaker perspective, but FPV will not lock the roll axis and even if you don't have the horizon on sight, you most likely will have a background, and even if you are just having a white/black background, the movement of the roll can be seen as an unwanted movement (unless that is the effect that you are looking for). What I'm trying to say is that you don't need to see the horizon to know that your shot is not being balanced. 2 eyes rolling left and right is enough to tell the difference

Otto, do you recommend using subject tracking for those orbit shots to keep the subject in the middle?
Hi!! Yes you can use tracking but you will need to pay attention to how it behaves, sometimes it can jump around a bit. For full orbit shots I’ve found that sometimes it can’t recognize the object when you are on the other side. Most of the time I end up doing the orbit manually for that reason

Some shots were done at 24 and others at 60 fps. Final export is 24

1) Every time I record some it creat 3 files, mp4, wave and LRF, is this normal?
2) Record on/off button turn on and off. Is there any way I can pause recording and restart?

You are welcome ! Yes those files are normal. The second audio file is a backup one. There is an option to turn that off. There is no pause record at this time. Hoping that DJI will add it

full size monopod on the bottom would open up a ton of options for very stable fake dolly shots. the "dolly" would move in an arc and not in a straight line, but the middle 30° would still be very similar. push in, side to side, that sort of thing, with the camera levelling automatically. your shots here are very nice but it's noticable that you walk the camera. with a monopod it wouldn't be

I would suggest using activetrack for the orbit shot - makes keeping the subject centered very easy.
Thanks! Yeah I mentioned this in my tips and tricks video for the Pocket 3 but the tracking used on objects rather than a person doesn’t have a very high success rate. For a beginner it’s probably a better choice than trying to do the orbit by themselves. In my case more often than not I prefer to do it “manually”

How do I lock the gimbal camera so it stays in one place? When I begin video I hold the button and a lock icon comes on upper right but the camera continues to move and is not in a locked position.
lock means locking the camera direction to keep pointing in the same direction it was looking at, not locking the camera to move along your camera
