One more: excessive focus hunting can also iccur if you are in "product showcase" -I couldn't get a flower to focus. Tried continuous, single (spot) but only when I stopped product showcase dir i get reliable focus.

ive had such bad experience with the focus hunting on the pocket 3. I can understand in the situations you described in your video. Mine are when using it for b-roll of myself doing something. Yesterday, i set the camera up a few feet away while getting cash from an ATM. It couldn't decide whether to focus on my shoulder or the background behind me and just nonstop focus hunting, even though its on a tripod. it basically does this anytime i have it set up on a tripod and i film myself. The camera is great if i'm walking around doing selfie mode and talking to the camera but as soon as i set it up on a tripod, it becomes basically unusable

I liked the tip about using the joystick to change from photo to video. I have problems to get the mic to work, I have to mess with it several times. Do you open the menu and select mic 1 first or turn on the mic first?

I really like the Spatial Audio effect you can achieve from the four internal microphones. It's great. But they need small wind muffs. Do you have any suggestions that might work? Thanks

Is there an advantage in using the zoom function on the camera rather than applying the zoom in post?
Thanks! I don't think there is a big difference (if there is any at all). I do all the zooming in post 90% of the time unless I'm using an optical zoom lens
When doing it in post, you crop the image so you loose quality, but maybe it’s not even noticeable

Awesome video! Lucky for me, I found out about the video compression before I started filming with it over the weekend (lucky me).
Here's another thing I found out about the OP3 that is kind of annoying, if you put the OP3 in the protective case and then put that in the carrying bag that came with the Creator Combo, you will not be able to zip the bag closed all the way. Give it a try. :P

re: the bag - The bag is *very* tight at first but will stretch out so that everything (including some small cables) can fit and be fully zipped shut. I basically followed the diagram in the manual (page 34) but put the camera (in its case) with the head towards the strap and with the curved side up. That also gives me some room on the top! I also have the dead cat on the Mic. Sounds impossible but eventually works.
@@martian-sunset OMG. Thanks! LOL! I finagled with it here for a bit and FINALLY managed to get it to zip closed. What a pain. I could've done that sooner but I just didn't want to force it closed and mess up the zipper and the flap.

DJI seems to be notorious for this. Mini 3 Pro drone fly more kit has a bag also that zips but you have to take your time messing with getting the battery holder and RC controller in there together. It would be nice to just be able to drop things in quickly....and be able to have that creator combo bag actually hold all the things that comes in the kit (including the protective cover). Can't wait to get mine. Shipped and arriving this week!

hi! this is used when you don't want the gimbal to follow any of your movements, walking in a straight line is an example although for a long distance I would not recommend it or doing a side tracking where you want the camera to be locked on a certain position.

Something I noticed with the Pocket 2 and I am thinking it will be the same with the 3 is the internal mics picking up unwanted sounds, mainly heavy breathing. When I was doing some strenuous activity (like climbing or hiking) and videoing at the same time the mic was picking up my heavy breathing and it would ruin my shots. So I was thinking to put some tape over the rear facing mic hole, what do you think?

P3 will be better in low light, I can tell you that right now :)

Otto - Can you do a video, maybe in another few weeks covering what is sure to be an avalanche of accessories for Pocket 3? I am mostly interested in mounts and extension rods, including power bank extension combos. I see the Pocket 3 Expansion adapter - it appears to come with no mounting hardware such as used for action cameras. I see shoulder strap mounts. Great, but then I HAVE to use a backpack? I see "neck mounts" that hold the camera high on your chest almost touching your chin. Also a wrist mount. I have zero idea when that would be helpful. I just know that YOU, sir -are ALWAYS helpful on this stuff. Counting on you to provide some guidance in the wearable mount accessories. THANKS OTTO!!!

@OttoJulian_ totally agree. They have to serve a purpose- not just for fun. Heres another menu method, switch to vertical screen and it become an up/down list!
Quick question Otto, with one of the Freewell filters attached will it interfere with the camera stowing when powering off?
When you power off the P3 with an ND filter it will flip the camera around to the other side, just like it does if you leave the wide angle lens on

Hi Otto, I recently got the Osmo Pocket 3 and purchased the San Disk Extreme Pro 128GB memory card from a reputed dealer. When I started recording at 4k 24fps, it started to overheat and I needed to pause a little while to start again. Is it coz of the memory card issue or is it normal? Appreciate your response. May I know please what do you mean by "less noise in low light condition "?
noise is that unpleasant grain that you get in your videos or pictures when there isn't enough light. This is normal and cameras will usually have less noise when the sensor is bigger
I hope they add additional POI's for the motion lapse. Their phone gimbal has the option for 4 and I have heard that the pocket 3 has the option for only 2 or 3. Can you confirm this?
The Custom motion lapse mode will set up to 4 points.

Hi Otto... I am looking for a piece of advice. I would like to do a "location reveal", I chose Focus-Single and pressed the control button to lock the gimbal. But it does not really work. Any tips?
What didnt work. Focus? Locking the gimbal?
@@OttoJulian_ the focus. I tap on the subject to focus. Then i pressed the button to lock the gimbal. But when i am in front of the foreground object, the focus changed onto the foreground to the position where i tapped previously to lock the subject.
Focus single is not focus lock. It’s a manual focus so if you or the subject moves the focus will change. This is because the focus is set at the initial focus distance. For example, if your focus is at 5 meters, it will remain at that distance if you move

Everyone is talking about cinematic looking footage by going with 24fps / 1/50th shutter speed, but the footage is juddery / stuttery / flickery as hell when shooting eg. approaching car or nature from a car, simply any movement that is faster than slow walking, it just looks like garbage and it is pretty frustrating, any tips on that?
Did you find any solutions to this? The rule can be broken a bit but normally that’s what people use (180 degree rule)

You are welcome. The zoom works fine, it’s usable when you are recording and there is a slider to control de speed when zooming in or out. As I said, it’s digital and this means that the image is being cropped (same with the iPhone unless it switches to a narrow lens). Zoomed video looks good enough, I don’t think anyone noticed any loss on the quality when they saw my videos
Thanks Otto - I know we can always count on you to uncover the latest, greatest info on our audiovisual devices. I would really like to see DJI add a "Pause recording" feature, so we don't have separate clips. Its not a huge deal to just put them together in post, but the Osmo Pocket 1 & 2 had a pause recording feature, or at least the 2 did as I recall.
Filters are now available, without local stock, creating long shipping times. Ordered a Black Mist sold as "Skyreat" brand shipping takes 3 weeks - ugh! The other brand "JSR" - sold under many brands is awkwardly shaped. JSR ND filters I've bought for Drones have been ok, but obviously budget items. Claims of "Optical glass" are dubious. Of the less expensive Brands, K&F, Skyreat have worked acceptably for me. PGYTECH is now premium - at least in price, and Polar Pro has started cutting corners. The beautiful storage boxes are gone, replaced with cheap plastic.
Yeah I took advantage of pause recording on the Pocket 2 a few times. Would be nice to have it on the P3. Thanks for the feedback on the filters. I have used some of the ones you mentioned and they are just fine. I’ll be looking into PGYTECH as I don’t remember trying their filters. Interesting about Polar Pro though, as long as they are not cutting corners on the build quality and materials used for their filters I can accept a less premium box
On plastic boxes, I agree, as long as we get some of the savings, not just more profit for the manufacturer! I like Polar Pro, though I'm not sure they add any functionality. Some folks like "premium branding" Freewell sets a standard. They're really pushing the "Mega" sets for drones and cameras though!
@@BlairAir oh yeah I agree! If they are cutting costs I’d expect some savings for us as well! If it’s the same price then it sure feels like a loss to us. Freewell has been pushing out some nice kits. I do miss the anamorphic one that they had for the Pocket 2. Not sure if they will release it
@@OttoJulian_ For my Mavic Air 2 freewell had Anamorphic (clear) and Anamorphic/ND Combo - I had an ND8 and ND16 - later they made the ND's Snap on over the Anamorphic lens for Mini 3 Pro. I was not happy DJI added the "notch of incompatibility" to Mini 4 Pro, making Mini 3 Filters and Wide Angle Lens not fit. They COULD have easily made the Mini 3 filters and lens fit Mini 4. Obvious cash grab, and DJI had to admit it.

It is impossible but after 3 weeks they solved the EU problem via firmware. You wanted to know. And they call it "fixed bugs" so there actually was something wrong in EU models and it seems that was not hardware.
I saw the update just never imagined it would be that. It has never been hardware related, it’s the temperature threshold that they have to change on EU. I guess they made raised that threshold, and if thats the case, I’m happy about it. The P3 is not going to fry itself over a few degrees
@@OttoJulian_ No. DJI Technical told me directly that they optimized the software that it wont use too much power with too high voltages that it wont generate heat so much. I have a feeling that there was actually bug in codecs or something because it actually "overheated" in 2 minutes. You know. Software can overload hardware to death even in Windows without hardware protection like AMD had no at 90s and you was able to burn the CPU without cooling.
@@OttoJulian_ They actually told even in forum that "this will be fixed in the next firmware".
@@OttoJulian_ Anyway whole Pocket 3 seems to work better now. Even gimbal is a lot smoother that it was. And that too was not mentioned in the firmware. Only fixed bugs.
