Excellent explanation of the actual execution of walking the cup. I've seen many videos of walking the cup, but how you broke it down in to micro steps explaining it in the beginning, I think will help a lot of people understand the process better. Kudos
To all young welders, learn FREE HAND ! Walking the cup is easy but you can’t always walk the cup . In the field you’ll come across more tight spots than wide open space to walk. I hate walking through the units and seeing welders trying to walk the cup on little socket welds lol it’s so aggravating. Learning and focusing more on free hand will be so beneficial in the long run
AMEN! I've been teaching and inspecting welding for 23 years (CWE/CWI) I have always made sure my students are proficient at free hand BEFORE I ever teach cup walking. Basics first!!!
Truth, when I started learning Tig in my union hall the instructor taught only freehand. And he never wanted anyone to walk the cup, walking the cup is more for shop welding
Walking the cup is nice, and pretty, especially in a shop. But in the field freehand is where its at, i used to weld boiler tubes and all we did was freehand.
When i first started welding instructors said welding per NRC specs you walk the cup we will pull your certification in a heart beat. Not there anymore i do both just whatever im welding needs.
This is a technique that is not permitted for high-pressure pipes. the correct angle of the torch should be 90 degrees. so that the heat remains on the molten bath. If you tilt it forwards, the material will get too hot. which changes the structure of the material. And is rejected
Roll to my right. Roll to my left. I wanna try that so badly. I think it would be much easier & more affective for me. Great video bro. Love this channel.
And you should try your off hand as often as possible especially when in a shop. Practice with your off hand will come in handy in the field. 50 year welder;]
Hey weld tube family I’m have a welder who has and incredibly ingenious invention y’all should check it out and have him on y’all show fam , look up tig finger eliminater it’s a game changer
this guy just accidently made a dope rap hook Roll to my right Roll to my left Roll to my right Roll to my Left NOW STOP!!!! JUST A LIL BIT SLOWAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Wish we were allowed to weave beads that wide, QA stands over us doing, heat input calculations. Over the joules joint is rejected and lot of explaining to do.
God bless u all. It would be great to accept Jesus now before its too late. He cares for our souls and so do I. He died and rose so that we may spend eternity with Him. He gave us His Holy Spirit to help us. We are not alone. The choice is yours. Jesus loves us.
If you can’t freehand go weld in a shipyard for a bit; you’ll learn how to freehand quick, although I know how; I very rarely walk the cup, using a mirror to weld at a shipyard is much easier free handing also
I've never been able.to walk the cup. I've never practiced it because im a boilermaker, and we rarely get the chance to be out in the open. This dude is awesome though. Great videos.
I was trying walking the cup on 2G pipe the other day and idk what I was doing wrong but I couldn’t make the cup walk 😅🤦🏻♂️ it stayed in the same spot
Personally I have hated always walking the cup. I feel like I get way more control free handing from root - cap. Sure I get the crispy pinky glove & take a few min longer, but find best results with free handing.
Slower free hand? I can usually make 2 welds freehanding compared to someone making 1 weld walking it out, you can run a little hotter and add more wire. I could flush that sch 80 out in 1 pass after the beads in. Just have to be careful not to get lof.

Yes it is
hi
Is that lift tig or hf
Also watching this helps a lot I wanna be a welder and these are great tips
👏👍
Anyone can make a cap look half decent walking it. Free hand. That's what takes skill.
walking the glass hurts your shoulder, elbow and wrist in the long run, usually looks better, looks like a robot would have done
In the field 90% freehand, gets painted over anyways..
Walking the Cup VS Freehand? Which one do you all prefer?
Walking the cup need more strength on your hand. Every time i try it i will feel tired 😂
I love walking the cup but it's just according to what I'm doing though
I do prefer walking the cup is better and as you said only when youre in a situation complicated new sub here
Freehand 75% of the time here. I’m not a pipeliner, do mostly exhaust headers, intakes, roll cages and chassis, etc.
100% freehanded....
Never walked a weld in my life.
As has been said here learn how to free hand. Some inspectors don’t like walking the cup.
Please add Polish language to your chanel. 😊
норм

That sounds horrible
Which one do you recommend for the beginners between free hand and walking the cup????
I was trying walking the cup on 2G pipe the other day and idk what I was doing wrong but I couldn’t make the cup walk 😅🤦🏻♂️ it stayed in the same spot
Yup, whenever I freehand I always remember to let my fitter know they're number 1
Hey, I have that same torch, The Twister...thanks for making this, well done. Cheers From Florida, Paul
Bless Another informative video. Keep’em coming. Thanks 😊
