As a born again , blood bought believer in Jesus Christ, I can say that this song is the prosperity gospel movement and the NAR (new apostolic reformation) 100%! These wolves in sheeps clothing NEED to be exposed, and this song does an amazing job doing just that!

@@stevewells8152 Billy Graham was one of the few who actually put his money where his mouth was. He did a ton of charity work, something that his foundation carries on today. For every guy like him though, there were ten snakes who just wanted your money. Jimmy Swaggart, Robert Tilton, Jim Bakker, Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn are some of the biggest offenders of that time period. Phil Collins specifically patterned Ernest Angley in the music video and Angley (no surprise here) was flattered and completely missed the fact that Genesis was chastising him. BTW if you have a minute to look it up, John Oliver did a piece on televangelists on Last Week Tonight and it is absolutely incredible.
I've watched a lot of videos about megachurch pastors, and it astounds me how much this music video nails the aesthetic of their old TV shows on the Christian channels

this song has the most moving and powerful emotionally and physically and amazing chorus ever. it is so genius. and that is it's background music and in the singing by phil which is so powerful and emotional and beautiful. also i love the bridge towards the end. it is stunning and very moving and beautiful also. i also love the cynical and funny lyrics. there were a lot of things like this back in the early '90s bc in the same year there was a dire straits song about this same topic which made fun of televangelists also and in 1992 there was a movie about this called leap of faith with steve martin. so all these things must have been made bc of the tammy baker and jim baker pta scandal that happened in the '80s.

My dad is a huge fan of Genesis and Phil so I listened to it a lot growing up. When Ghost did this cover, my jaw dropped through the floor and I was instantly blown away. They did an amazing job and would love to hear them cover more songs, not necessarily from Phil/Genesis, but maybe other 70s/80s bands as well.

I agree that Phil collins and Genisis are a legend in the music industry. This reminds me of all the TV evangilists. Back when this song was done they were everywhere. Jesus love is free.

Yesterday, I heard Land of Confusion on the radio, but had only ever heard the Disturbed cover before. I also heard the Ghost cover of this song yesterday. It was incredibly ironic that each song search brought me to Genesis. I knew who Genesis was, just never really listened to their stuff. I only really knew Phil Collins solo stuff and Peter Gabriel’s solo stuff. Great music!

I was backstage when I was working at Target Center, and Nick Collins was warming up to play drums for his dad. He said he only likes 2 of his dad's songs. This is one of them. Lmfao
This is my favorite music video of all time, primarily because of how relatable all the stock characters that show up in the chorus at 0:50 and again at 1:40. Having grown up in the church, each character is identifiable. For example, the family in the orange is obviously the head of the church, with the father (Phil Collins) being the ringleader and his son an enthusiastic “cradle Christian” who will get sent off to college to study theology and come back as an atheist. The father of the blue family is the trustee and who probably embezzles money, and although his sons in the blue ties also grew up in the church, at least one will end up gay and the other will end up doing drugs. The little purple girls are the ones that the congregation will think of as cute because they know all of the words…despite having no idea what the words mean. The keyboardist is the youth pastor who tries his best to make church hip and relatable, bless his heart. And the older couple down front in the white? They’ve been going to this same church for 30 years…more as an obligation than anything profound. If you grew up in the church, try to tell me I’m wrong about any of this?

I have every album and box set and I hope this leads to people digging into their catalogue more, especially A Trick of the Tail, Duke, Selling English by the Pound and Foxtrot among many others! Great video by my favourite band. With that being said, the original video is hilarious and this edit sort of takes away from the message that the full video tries to convey. All the stuff at the beginning, and then at the end with Tony and Mike carrying Phil away... it was priceless... like this comment if you want the FULL video uploaded on their Genesis’ channel.
It was probably shortened to remove the spoken words and just leave the music. They actually wereren'y necessary as the video and music lyrics show the minister for the false prophet he is.
Brings me back to a time when I was like 7 or 8 years old. Then going on to believe Genesis was a Christian gospel band. Then trying to find the message of songs like I Can't Dance, Tonight Tonight Tonight, That's All, and I Don't Care Anymore. That definitely left me in a Land Of Confusion.

I've watched a lot of videos about megachurch pastors, and it astounds me how much this music video nails the aesthetic of their old TV shows on the Christian channels
But do please remember: These Charlatans who have these Megachurches are NOT true Christians nor do they practice true Christianity.
If you read the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you'll see a glaring difference between the true Gospel and what these hucksters are doing.

this song has the most moving and powerful emotionally and physically and amazing chorus ever. it is so genius. and that is it's background music and in the singing by phil which is so powerful and emotional and beautiful. also i love the bridge towards the end. it is stunning and very moving and beautiful also. i also love the cynical and funny lyrics. there were a lot of things like this back in the early '90s bc in the same year there was a dire straits song about this same topic which made fun of televangelists also and in 1992 there was a movie about this called leap of faith with steve martin. so all these things must have been made bc of the tammy baker and jim baker pta scandal that happened in the '80s.

My dad is a huge fan of Genesis and Phil so I listened to it a lot growing up. When Ghost did this cover, my jaw dropped through the floor and I was instantly blown away. They did an amazing job and would love to hear them cover more songs, not necessarily from Phil/Genesis, but maybe other 70s/80s bands as well.

I agree that Phil collins and Genisis are a legend in the music industry. This reminds me of all the TV evangilists. Back when this song was done they were everywhere. Jesus love is free.
Hypocritical christians are still everywhere, pushing dfalse ideology like racism and bigotry - and plenty of them are still on TV as politicians and all that now, rather than just being TV evangelists. Glad that Ghost covered this song to point out the hypocrisy in a new era! I love Genesis, but I love that Ghost did an even more rockin' cover of this! Yesterday, I heard Land of Confusion on the radio, but had only ever heard the Disturbed cover before. I also heard the Ghost cover of this song yesterday. It was incredibly ironic that each song search brought me to Genesis. I knew who Genesis was, just never really listened to their stuff. I only really knew Phil Collins solo stuff and Peter Gabriel’s solo stuff. Great music!

I was backstage when I was working at Target Center, and Nick Collins was warming up to play drums for his dad. He said he only likes 2 of his dad's songs. This is one of them. Lmfao
This is my favorite music video of all time, primarily because of how relatable all the stock characters that show up in the chorus at 0:50 and again at 1:40. Having grown up in the church, each character is identifiable. For example, the family in the orange is obviously the head of the church, with the father (Phil Collins) being the ringleader and his son an enthusiastic “cradle Christian” who will get sent off to college to study theology and come back as an atheist. The father of the blue family is the trustee and who probably embezzles money, and although his sons in the blue ties also grew up in the church, at least one will end up gay and the other will end up doing drugs. The little purple girls are the ones that the congregation will think of as cute because they know all of the words…despite having no idea what the words mean. The keyboardist is the youth pastor who tries his best to make church hip and relatable, bless his heart. And the older couple down front in the white? They’ve been going to this same church for 30 years…more as an obligation than anything profound. If you grew up in the church, try to tell me I’m wrong about any of this?

Probably one of the most under-rated songs ever written.
The backlash from the Far Right Church was pretty nasty. And Phil having moved to Florida made him an attainable target of death threats. The band had to submit an apology and yet the song is dead on subject.

Great video by my favourite band. With that being said, the original video is hilarious and this edit sort of takes away from the message that the full video tries to convey.
