    • @twelve98

      u clearly don't know the history - there's PLENTY of reason to boo him

    • @ILLmaticAK
      @ILLmaticAK 9 лет назад +74

      twelve98 You are pretty ignorant to the fact he was the reason he put this town on the map. He made this town a breeding ground for players in Canada to grow and become pros. He didn't actually want to leave. The organization made it seem that way. If you should boo anyone it should be people like Mcgloure he never wanted to be in the Raptors. But all of a sudden in the 2012-2013 season he did? Cause he was getting old? No, Vince never wanted to leave the GM hated him but the coaching staff and everyone else did and with all the fans as well. Plus he was one of the best and if not the best Raptor in history for his amazing dunks and scoring ability.

    • @twelve98
      @twelve98 9 лет назад +6

      Illmatic mad probs for what he did when he was here, but he *absolutely* wanted to leave in the end - he acted like a d*ck and forced his way out - he's admitted it himself!!

    • @ILLmaticAK
      @ILLmaticAK 9 лет назад +6

      twelve98 if there was an intent it would be not winning. That is just the part of the game and the scene you have to face when you play for anyone in the league. But when all is said and done there is no reason to actually boo the guy. He loves the city and it shows for his hard work and dedication here. He isn't like some Toronto Raptors from the past that barely put in work (i.e Shawn Marion or Hedo Turkgulu) they went out there and half assed games. Now we see players like Lowry or even Gay when he was here trying there hardest to win at all costs. He started that culture so give the guy some credibility.

    • @MrLogi5
      @MrLogi5 9 лет назад +6

      No reason?? NO REASON?! tell me that everytime Vince played us since he left, he hasn't tried 200% to rip our hearts out. More than he'd give on any other night. He embraced that villain role to the city of Toronto, The playoffs in 2007, that dreary fucking night on November 21, 2008 when he made it his job to remind every raptor fan that he played his best in the ACC whether friend or foe! Don't fucking tell me I can't boo him, He may be to best player we've ever had and made a lot of memories here, for that I'll thank him with that Standing ovation like everyone else, But as long as he's playing, and as long as I can remember the numerous times Vince Carter, Half-Man Half-Amazing, Mr. AIR CANADA HIMSELF has torn out Raptors fans hearts and ate them infront of them as they lay there hurt, shocked, and worst of all nostalgic..... I'm Booing and there's not a damn thing you can do to stop me.

  • @alexfiftyem
    @alexfiftyem 9 лет назад +504

    I don't give a damn if he leaving was his fault or not, people need to appreciate him for what he did instead of hating for what he didn't get to do.
    I love my dad for that shitty bike I had, I don't hate him for not buying me a Mercedes.
    Get my point?
    Appreciate the fact that one of the best entertainers of all time put your team on the basketball map and that's it.
    If you can't appreciate at least show some respect.

      He was obviously joking about never dunking again but he was definitely acting stupid at that time. His last few years in Toronto were garbage compared to his potential and he acted like a kid but it's so long ago that people shouldn't hold on to it forever.

    As a Toronto resident and a Raptors fan for 20 yrs, VC will always be considered a landmark in Raptors history. Much respect for everything he did for our team and as a city. I'll always look back to the 2000 All Star weekend as one of the most exciting times of my childhood. I feel like too many people boo him because they don't know the truth behind the trade to NJ. Babcock ordered the trade, not VC. Way too many people holding grudges. I wish VC would come back and play out his final yr as a Raptor. Not only would it be a perfect ending to his career but I feel like Toronto fans would finally give him the forgiveness he deserves.

    I really don't see how ppl can hate on Vince. Seriously dude put the Raptors on the map. Damon Stoudamire nope,Marcus Camby nope. At least he took them to the playoffs the first time in franchise history. And majority of the haters on here back in the day was tuned into Sportscenter waiting for him in the top 10 plays. Along with Jason Williams clowning in Sacramento. It's good to see he still got love in Toronto.

      Michael Han I believe,when he claimed that he'll never dunk again,he meant it as a joke and you should remember that it was after his knee injuries that people started to call him out for settling too much for jumpers...so he probably got a bit pissed off when people kept bringing up dunks and completely discredit his other abilities in terms of the game.I still don't get why people,raptors fans in particular,got so offended by that silly joke that VC made,i even find it a bit funny.He even dunked a few times the game after this particular interview.

    It's the impact Vince had on basketball in the country. Not only in Toronto but across the country. Believe me after Vince rise to stardom, so many people picked up a basketball and hoops started to pop up all across the country.

    • @NovaScotiaNewfie
      @NovaScotiaNewfie 6 лет назад +1

      Not sure how or was in other parts of the country but growing up in the 90's in. High school in Newfoundland plenty of folks had hoops in their drive way. We watched the NBA before the Raptors came into existence. Shaq was my favourite player and I was a Magic fan. When he left for LA I began to cheer for the Raptors.
      So where I grew up I never really saw change in the sport but I'm from rural Newfoundland so the cities could be completely different.
      But growth of a sport is always a good thing. I hope the National Basketball League of Canada expands out west and allows Canadians from Canadian Universities or Canadians that play NCAA ball to be able to play pro ball if they don't have the chance to play in the NBA.

And I hate when people try to dismiss him as a circus act like he was just some freak athlete dunker, negative. VC is one of the greatest all around scorers the leage has ever seen, offensively he was deadly everywhere, great basketball player, and sure fire hall of famer

    I don't understand the dislike/hatred towards Vince Carter from some of the Toronto fans. Vince Carter imo is the greatest basketball entertainer. No other player has achieved that type of greatness of entertainment. He provided so much in game dunks highlight reels that can never be touched. The guy was just amazing to watch. No one will ever come close to what Vince Carter did to not only to entertain the fans of Toronto, but to the world.

      It's not that hard. He feigned injuries, quit on the team and then demanded a trade (after depleting his trade value). He submarined the franchise so badly it took years to get back on track. We're still not really back on track. We squandered so much to first keep him happy and then got nothing back for him when he was traded.

    Basketball is life, its a source of entertainment, peace and competitive drive that has been instilled in so many Canadian lifestyles, and VC is probably the reason why. He was here for only 6 years man, but his impact to the game north of the border will live on forever. People say we shouldn't retire his jersey because of what went down during the final season, but just imagine we didnt trade for him and we ended up keeping Antwan Jamison...we might not even have a team anymore (remember vancouver...). im 21 years old but i believe Vince Carter will be the greatest sports icon in my life. And when team Canada upsets the United States im gonna be thankful one more time!

    It’s sad how quickly people forgot how electrifying Vince was. He got a buzz in the arena going like no one else those years in Toronto. It’s a crime he was only voted all NBA two times, I think the national media held the Toronto stuff against him once he got to NJ because he was All NBA caliber for most of his years in Jersey. I’ve never heard him talk about it, but I don’t believe he was ever the same player after the knee injuries. You could just see it in how he ran. I don’t think he would use that as an excuse for anything though. Even with that, he was still one of the most exciting players in the game. Now everyone talks up all these players with inflated scoring averages because they shoot nothing but threes with zero resistance because of the defensive rules, but those of us who grew up in the post Jordan era know none of these dudes could hold a candle to Vince, T Mac, Kobe and AI.

From his slam dunk competition opening dunk, dunk over the 7 footer in the Olympics, 360 dunks in traffic during real games, even his 360 layups are all things you only really expect people to do in a video game, but this man did it at the highest level of competition.

    The Raptors wouldn't have been the same if Vince Carter hadn't played in Toronto... This man is a legend in my humble opinion, and you can see it in his eyes that even after all those year that have gone by, Toronto and the Raptors hold a very special place in his heart.. Thanks for the memories Vince.... #AirCanada #HalfManHalfAmazing

    gotta respect toronto for a tribute to a former player, not the response that normal former players receive, and props to the fans for cheering on, raptors fans are royal, a lot of the bandwagon fans can take notes

    i love this, this guy put the raptors on the map and was and still is the biggest/best player to play for us. all the years of booing was too much especially since it wasnt all his fault he even wanted to stay and commit to the team's future but the trade went down anyway. best dunker of all time and one of the best players of the 2000s decade.

    He will forever be a part of the Raptors' history as a franchise. He was the reason why basketball became so popular in Canada. Before he came along, basketball was just an afterthought in Canada. It's a shame that he left the Raptors and didn't really cement his legacy as their preeminent franchise player, but he should be appreciated for everything he did for them while he was still with them and not be hated for leaving. It still makes me wonder what more he could have accomplished with the Raptors if he had never left, but we will never know. What could have been with him and the Raptors will never be. He did do some good for the Raptors and he deserves respect for that.

    Vince Carter is so much a part of the Toronto ethos. We all grew up watching him in purple doing crazy electrifying dunks. When i think of Toronto (and not even just Raptors) Vince is key part of those memories. Thanks Vince for everything!

    Man 5 years later, and the man finally decided to hang up the shoes. Vince Carter is probably my favourite basketball player for a while now, just his athleticism and entertainment factor. Its a shame that things had to end the way it did, and I do not blame him for mistakes F.O. and management did against Carter; ignorance and immaturity prolly played a big part. Regardless on how you feel about him, you cannot deny what he's contributed to the franchise and NBA as a whole. Greatest dunker in NBA history and the only man to play in 4 different Decades.
    Grew up watching him, seeing him demolish our team with another jersey on, and seeing how his career transpired until the very end. Vinsanity was half man half amazing, and itll always be as such.

    Vince Carter was one of the funnest players to watch ever. What an incredible above the rim pkayer he was. Nothing but love and respect. Hating VC shows how big of a joke you are as a person but you can't comprehend that otherwise you wouldn't embarrass yourself.

    I'll admit I didnt like how everything played out when he left. Never really wished him well. But I've come to a point where I have to admit he was one of the most influential players within the Toronto Raptors organization and give him his due props.. Congratulations Vince Carter on your tribute and do wish you the best for the remainder of your career.Time has a way of changing how u feel about people or things. On that note.. to the Toronto Raptors of the present.. let's bust ass this season.. no falling down and holding that knee.. we gonna soldier it through!!
