  • Here are some never before seen dunks from Vince Carter. Video is from Gary Payton Charity Game, Zo's Summer Groove, Ray Of Hope Foundation Charity Game, Magic's Mid-Summer Night's Dream Charity Game, USA Basketball practice, Jerry Stackhouse UNC Alumni Game, and various exhibitions with the Toronto Raptors. Vince Carter fans may spot a few dunks in the top 40 they have seen before. How many can you list?
Vince has brought up the 1999 Gary Payton Charity game as one of the first times he put his elbow in the rim. Carter also brings out several dunks that he would later perform in the legendary 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
Happy 40th Birthday to Vince Carter.

Vince is one of those players who cares about the crowd. A lot of players don't care that thousands of people drove miles and miles away to come see them play. And only try to put on a show if their on like prime time or something. But Vince is always the guy who's like no, these fans deserve a show

Jarif Ahmed relax guy if you're saying NBA players give their all every game your out of your mind.. how often do you see a full court press? How often do guys go out of their way to impress the crowd with a dunk like Vince does? That's the point.. that some fans come from far away and it's a shame that players walk up the court or don't play defense or crash boards or run back on fast break defense that's when you get the best games and the truth is their just not in the shape the college players are in to press all game and give it their all cuz if not there's someone waiting to take that spot or scholarship which is why I prefer watching college ball where offensive plays and defensive schemes matter and not just prime time games or when your in first place but every game .. you can't say that in today's NBA and certainly not when Vince was in his prime players were known to play half ass unless you were in the top 5 teams in the league and even them when playing the bottom of the league teams would take it easy.. just pointing out that he is there so the crowd gets their money's worth and that's a good thing when that is not the norm.. I agree with you in a close game you can't always do it or it's not the safe thing to do but being at the top level you should be able to and should be trying to.. magic played with style as did Dr. j and MJ that's just the top tier of players being able to take advantage you see it with Irving and Steph.. and Kyrie gets the better of Steph in the head to head I'm sorry all you Steph fans he's great but is outplayed and outshowed against cleveland

Blake talked about it a while ago and it sounds like it wasn't entirely his fault. apparently he wanted to jump over a convertible or sometime with his buddies inside. The NBA forced him to use the huge ass KIA at the last minute and so he just jumped over the front because he hadn't practiced with that car. Still lame though. NBA did ruin that dunk contest.

#4 & #3 were sick!! Shoulda been #1 & #2. Either coulda won a Dunk contest. Crazy! 2 Jump, head at rim height, back 2 the basket to catch the ball, & THEN turn & slam it home iz just plain nutz!!! Gotta add those 2 the other 300+ favorite dunks (of his). LoL The 1st half of his career, he had the best dribble through crowds/moves to get the dunks finishes of all time 2! & he made an incredibly hard dunk look routine! While evry1 else wuz doin' 360s, he wuz doin' reverse 360s w/a windmill!! & he influenced (& pushed) all who followed him. U can't come regular after wut he did in the All-time best, classic 2000 contest. 2nd iz last years battle between Gordon & LaVine, which Gordon shoulda won btw. & altho Nique & Kemp were nasty in game with their dunks, i still put Vince 1st, because he had more variety with his. &...well...no 1 else did a reverse 360 w/ a windmill, cuz hardly any1 else did reverse 360s! enjoyed all the masters tho! (like cuz T-Mac, Jason Richardson, Baron Davis, JR Smith, Nate Robinson, Dr.J, etc.) Peace

Vince Carter is a once in a lifetime kind of athlete. He's the best dunker in the history of the NBA. The dunks that he's executed weren't just for show in dunk contests but in NBA games as well. His dunks are always delivered with power, ferocity and they are clean as well. Heck, Vince Carter can dunk the ball with power even now at his age which is unheard of. The guy could shoot the ball as well as play defense. Vince Carter's dunks are an art and the court is his canvas. Half man, half amazing is an understatement when describing his talent and abilities. On top of that, he's always been an unselfish and classy teammate. Unfortunately, I've never seen him live, but even watching him on TV has been in an honor in itself. I'll definitely miss him when he retires. The legacy that he'll leave behind will forever be etched in the history of the NBA.

I was lucky to have grown up watching Vince since his rookie season, he was like a force of nature when he came to Toronto. There would be no Toronto Raptors today if it weren't for him bringing the fans out. Every night had that excitement of who is he going to poster next, and then he would go out and do it every time. Those were the fucking days, that game against the Pacers in his rookie season was the start of it all.

The great thing about VC is that he is graceful in the air. So "easy" dunks look so good. Many other dunkers can jump higher and do more complicated things these days but they don't make it look as good.

Awesome. A bunch of those dunks were from a Gary Payton charity game I had the pleasure of attending. It was just after his rookie season and he was dunking it left and right. And I knew that would be the last time he would be doing that event because everyone in the building knew he was about to be a huge star in the NBA and probably wouldn't be willing to take the time and effort to give a performance like that in future offseasons.
