- Chick told me that this song, "Eternal Child", came to him in a dream. He said he had to get up and write it down immediately. When we recorded this song I had the great joy of playing this soulful and haunting melody. Playing this song live we often started it with a 5 minute duet interplay on the theme and changes. We did this together many nights, on many stages, and each time and every time it was dream-like. Chick was truly the Eternal Child in life and in music. I felt this to be the perfect tribute song to play for him. Chick truly understood what it is I do on guitar. This made playing with him all the more special. There is so much I am grateful for to this gentle genius whom I love very much. For me, music speaks louder than words ever could and it is with that sentiment that I offer this video.

Chick Corea has worked with lots of great guitar players from Mike Miller to Bill Connors to Charles Altura to guitar legends such as Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Scott Henderson but I consider Frank Gambale to not only be his main collaborator in virtually all of his projects from solo to RTF IV to the Elektric Band but he is the best guitarist he has ever played with.
He is a true team player who cares so much about the music and isn't just about shredding and chops, he is an incredible versatile musician on both electric and acoustic guitars but can play any style of genre from jazz to rock to latin to fusion. Frank Gambale is the whole complete package and this is a beautiful fitting tribute to one of the greatest of all time.

this is so touching and really reaches into Chick's persona and Spanish heart. I am so grieved at his passing and our loss of this truly unique and passionate musician. Having played his music since the 70's as a trumpet player and drummer, I feel like a big part of me has died right along with Chick. Frank, you too are such a treat with your approach to improvisation, playing and ensemble performance. You feeling and fire is right up there with Chick's. This tribute to Chick is fitting, and you are definitely the guy to provide us with it, as we sit and listen, and recall our moments of joy with Chick, and with you. Thank You.

As an impressionable 15 year old I was introduced to Chick Corea and opened the path to awaken the musician in me. It was a sad day when I read that he had ascended to a higher dimension. In the last two weeks I find myself walking the earth alone as my sister and mother both ascended to a higher dimension. These wonderful human beings were my guides in life. RIP mom, sis and Chick. You are deeply missed.

I bought that Chick Corea album (on vinyl) when it came out. I especially loved that tune
