My daddy past away on December the 10th 1972. I love this song I miss my dad. I truly want him to hold me once again. He passed away without me being able to tell him that. I know will be together again in heaven! He’s been on my heart so much lately. I’m looking forward to being with him again and my mom. I also miss my husband he’s been gone almost 8 years. My daddy died when I was 3 years old, my great grandma gave me a record with this song on it. My mom and I would sing it in the car driving down the road with tears streaming down our faces. Still makes me cry when I sing it 57 years later. Some day I will hug my daddy in heaven. Can't wait.

I too pray every night that I might see my dad again, my dad passed away June last year he was in a care home for dementia, although he had dementia he still remembered and loved his family, covid robbed us of seeing dad in the last month's of his life, I am still heartbroken 💔I don't think I will ever get over it.
It is hard enough to explain to older children but almost impossible to make a little one understand.

I lost my dad of a massive heart attack on July 23, 1985. He turned 64 on April 10, 1985. I miss him so much. I lost my mom on July 9, 2006 to pancreatic cancer. She had waited 21 years to be with him again. I was an only child so it’s still hard for me. God bless you.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I use to listen to this song years ago when working with dad milking the cows. I think the cows listen to this song.
My Mother has always played music with her guitar since we were small kids. As we all got older her wish was to have a cassette tape made with her favorite songs. She included my 6-year-old daughter in it and they sang this song. She had some 50 or so tapes made and they sold out at one of her gatherings in the parks she would play at. My daughter sang that part so beautifully as she always got a standing ovation. My daughter now is able to play this music for her children now. Such a beautiful memory. God bless everyone.

My grandpa sang a version of this song with his polka band. It used to be my mom’s favorite song of his, and she passed away when I was 10. This song has always been my favorite as well. On my mom’s obituary, they wrote a version about a mother’s death, and every time I hear this, all I can think about is my mom and how she could still be hear, about to watch me graduate from high school, if it wasn’t for the careless act for someone to drive drunk.

This wonderful song is extremely true. It difficult to tell someone that their loved one is gone, an adult, a teenager have a difficult time understanding the unanswerable question of why someone they love will never come come. To a young child the question is unconciiousable to comprehend no matter how it's explained. It's perhaps one of the hardest question to answer.

This song reminded me of a past memory of my 5yr old daughter who passed away a month before she passed away. She had Cystic Fibrosis and was was concerned about what would happen to her Mommy, DADDY, and sisters when she went to heaven. It was avery weird? a question and very hard for me to answer. We lost her back n 1973, and to this day I 😢 her still but I know that she is free of the disease and watching over us.

Lost my Dad in 1977. He was a WW2 veteran. He never talked about the war. We only found out after he was gone that he was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his actions at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Back then the Bronze Star meant far more than it does today, or even when I was awarded one in Vietnam, 27 years later. I can hardly imagine the chaos of hundreds of Japanese bombers raining death down on you. My Dad was stationed at Wheeler Field at the time. One of the first targets hit.
