I was privileged enough to have Shelby sing to me at the Amelia Bluegrass festival, I believe the same year she died. Shelby was the best friend of a mechanic s daughter , that I worked with. Shelby had a great singing voice, just like her dad. I got to see James at many a festival. I last saw James backstage at the same festival, different year. I did not even recognize him. He had lost so much weight. I was given the honor, to go out on stage, to read a tribute, to our beloved friend Howard Bell. We knew him as " Rebel." The Bluegrass Brothers based out of Salem, Va were getting ready to play. That was very tough to do. I salute and greatly miss all of my Bluegrass family, that has passed on. Thank you all for sharing, your God given talents with us!!!!!!!
I dearly loved James and his family and singing group. Rest In Peace, James.

Shelby died in December of 2012 in a single car accident. She was 18 years old.
