Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on RUclips yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthev... and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyro... The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyro...

Didn't even know this was possible!!! This couldn't have been found at a better time. I don't have long to live, barring a miracle, and I'm trying to make blankets for all my grandkids before I can't anymore. This will be a tremendous timesaver for me and may make the difference between them all having something from me for years to come and only some of them getting a blanket. I'm crying tears of joy and relief and thanking God for letting me find this just when I thought I would need a time machine to get them all done. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU❣️❣️❣️

Lynn, what beautiful gifts you're giving to your grandchildren. I KNOW you will succeed getting all of them done. The power of will is phenomenal and you have that will. Bless you dear Lynn, and I hope for a miracle for you. I want you to know that my grandmother embroidered a tablecloth for me to add to my hope chest (yes, I'm from the era of hope chests)! and that has been over 45 years ago. I still have it and still use it on holidays and I put it on the table on her birthday. I will be passing it to one of my daughters. Your grandchildren will keep it for all their lives, I guarantee it. I still have that hope chest filled with memento's for my children and grandchildren as well.

God bless u Lynn! I am sure your grandchildren will treasure their blankets for yrs to come knowing they were made with such love! I pray that you receive healing, for u to get your miracle & to live a long prosperous life! Always believe in miracles & NEVER give up on the brink of one! We never know when we will receive a miracle so as my pastor always says, “we all are always on the brink of one, so have faith & never lose hope.”
Prayers, Blessings, Peace, Love & Healing to you!🙏🏻😊✌🏻💖🌻

P.S. I wrote this verse on my bathroom mirror to remind me to NEVER give up on ANYTHING & to always have hope & faith. It is my favorite verse. Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

You can do more than two rows at a time. I got to wondering if it could be done and it is possible. Chain the number needed for your project, then add 2 more chains for each additional row you want to crochet at the same time...then add 1 more chain. Then use the technique you did of yo and insert hook and pull up loops, etc. For doing three rows at once. You would add 7 more chains. Thank you for sharing this technique. (Or just add 2 chains for each row...thus for 3 rows you would add 6 chains. As The Trouble With Trebles suggested in the pinned comment.)

This stitch is sooo much fun, thank youuu! I was playing around with it when my husband got home from work and he was amazed - said I was the master of crochet, haha! I found it a bit tricky at first but after just a short while I was really getting into the swing of it. What I really like is how it feels as I work it - it just flows back and forth rather than the quick up, down and twist of a regular DC - and I think it's going to be much less painful on my rheumatic wrists and hands, especially when making larger items. I also love the way it looks, it's so interesting as it grows, and there's a certain softness and drapiness (is that a word?!) to it that regular rows of DC lack. Thanks so much for making such a clear and easy to follow tutorial, your efforts and talent are very much appreciated! :)

Thanks. This stitch of yours is _wonderful,_ so I'm just glad to be able to give something back.
While I was practicing the stitch, I had an idea about how to make the _end_ of a row straighter, too. It's a bit convoluted, so I hope I can explain it… There's a loop at the end of the row that makes a small lump on the side. Well, before inserting your hook into the top of the last stitch in the row below, insert the hook down into that loop, from the top, then, with a bit of a twist, put the hook through the top of the stitch below, as usual. Capturing that otherwise loose loop makes the end of the row straighter. I hope I made that clear. Please feel free to ask for clarification, if I didn't. And, of course, I'd appreciate your feedback.

Wonderful trick! 🧶🥰 also love your nails! 💅🏻
Quick tip. When you get to the end of the row and chain 5 to begin the next row, turn you work and begin the next chain down. instead of placing the stitch immediately at the bottom as Robin shows, place it in the next stitch. It will keep the lines straight without creating that bulge effect!

  • @giseletannous6873
    @giseletannous6873 5 лет назад +10

First thank u so much for sharing ❤️ that is amazing.. second regarding the edges, i started with a chain of 4 instead of 5.. it straightened out the edges perfectly similarly to when u do each row separately..
That is for because when chaining 5, you are starting the two rows in each round, one by a chain of 2 and one by a chain of 3.. and a longer chain at the beginning of the row makes it a bit more bumpy.. while a chain of 4 wld give each row a starting chain of 2, so it evens it up..
However, there is one other thing i altered that even made it look exactly like a regular double crochet without that slanted loop..
u know that loop where you yarn over and don’t pull through, i actually pulled through and yarned over again before going into that stitch at the bottom.. thats it.. it made it perfect.. is there any way i can send u a picture to show u?

Wonderful trick! 🧶🥰 also love your nails! 💅🏻
Quick tip. When you get to the end of the row and chain 5 to begin the next row, turn your work and begin the next chain down. instead of placing the stitch immediately at the bottom as Robin shows, place it in the very next stitch. It will keep the lines straight without creating that bulge effect!
I wish I could show a picture in the comments.

Ok! I timed myself doing your two lined crochet vs 2 lines of the regular double crochet. It took me 15 seconds longer the regular way. But! The texture of the double line is much softer. I will be using this more often cuz it does take away from the same-old.. same-old

Life. Changed. I had to pick my jaw up from the floor. My favorite crochet project to do is what I just call a "scrap blanket." I have virtually no budget at all for crocheting, so when I have just $2-3 to spare, I got to my local thrift store. They have bags of yarn for 99 cents that are mostly just small balls of yarn, whatever was left of a skein sort of thing, always in random colors, different weights, styles, etc. Each bag is probably a total of 700-1000 yards of yarn, and you never know what you'll get. And I use them to make small blankets, foundation chain of 120-150, and then just rows of dc until it's as long as I like. I can't wait to start another blanket using this stitch!

Isa Sarmisegetuza Yes, you just don’t yarn over for a single crochet and make your chain three for a single...but then why wouldn’t you just make a double crochet instead? For a half double you could yarn over with the same (chain 5) but pull through three twice. Just practice and few times and think it through step by step and I’m sure you will do great.

      SuddenlyHope You’re amazing, Thank you!
I totally get your meaning about why not just use double crochet instead of 2 rows of single crochet. Well, I am self taught for both crochet and knitting but it was from when I was a child. Now I am 40 and with all those years of experience in knitting and crochet, I get really bad pains in my hands. I notice that the pain comes on more quick if it’s single crochet but I just love the look of row upon row of single crochet if a pattern calls for it ( and yes I have used double crochet in those instances but afterwards it ends up not looking as esthetically pleasing so I’ve ended up frogging and redoing it with single crochet ).
Thanks so much for showing/teaching me something new.

This is a great stitch, Robin. Thanks for sharing it. :) I did something similar to what "The Trouble With Trebles" did. However I did add 5 extra chains to the beginning row. I went into the 3rd ch and wrap my hook the same as yours but on the second step, I went into the 3rd ch instead of the 2nd, this keep the stitch from curling because it seemed too short. Then at the beginning of the remaining rows, I only chained 4,..etc,... but instead of going into the same stitch as the beginning chain on the second step, I went into the next stitch to pull up my loop and work through the rest of the stitch. It worked beautifully, the edges are very even. Here is a url to an image. tiny.cc/noac8y The image looks like it tapers at the top LOL,.. but it's just the angel of the camara,..it's nice and square.

Hi! I have never seen this before. I watched 2 different videos to compare. I was really interested to see how multicolored yarn looked as you went. The other video had adding 6 stitches, going into chain number 4 from the hook and then doing the same way as you. Her sample appears to have straight edges. The chain 6 adds the extra height needed to get a square edge. Have you tried it doing chain 6 instead of chain 5? Either way, this is awesome!! Thank you!!

Your swatch resembles back loop double crochet, hence that slant in the front. If you aim for the "back hump" (slant, the loop, and then loop just behind that) instead, you get a typical double crochet look.

I guess you might see it if you went looking for it, but I doubt it, and I would've had to frog at least half of the scarf, otherwise. As "they" say, "Necessity is the mother of invention," eh?
