      @@andybub45 I own a GX, my transfer case has a leak. The mechanic says this is normal for the GX and the 4runner. Do an online search and you will see people complaining about the issue. The brakes work yes but the pedal and the feel of the brakes are the worst of any vehicle I have ever driven. At stop lights, the vehicle will creep forward unless you apply a lot of pressure. Look that up as well.

      I have a 2008 GX470. It only has 148,000 miles on it. That’s nothing for a Lexus. We definitely want to buy a new one this year, but I’m torn between the GX460 (I feel like it’s just a little smaller inside) and the 2023 Toyota Sequoia. Decisions, decisions..or do I put new tires, fix the back up camera and the radio on our GX470 and keep it another 5-7 years? Tough choice!

      @Cocora22 2 года назад +2

      @@Dacoldest23 if you need the space the GX 460 will disappoint. Don’t get me wrong I love mine, but we don’t travel much anymore, our son is all grown up and doesn’t live with us, my husband has an rv for his adventures, and if I go somewhere it’s just my son and I on a snowboard trip or bike trip. It really is a4 person vehicle. I’m thinking that even going on a beach trip to Florida this year it will be a problem. Four adults , one dog and everything we need for a beach trip will also require a car top carrier. My Escalade could handle all that, but it had mechanical issues. So I guess the gist of it is, if you need the space the GX will be lacking. Third row is useless, that’s my personal opinion I never have it up.

      Don’t wait too long with delays etc , if you see it I’d grab it . My 2017 has been a great purchase the suspension etc is amazing .With the tech upgrades I’d love the 2022. Pretty sure it’ll be the v6 in 2023 ,that’s in the new tundra ( turbo) .And it may be a long wait. Yes better gas mileage but reliable? And if one pushes a turbo there goes the gas mileage . PS Toyotas production lines are going very slow now. Who knows with future pricing also .

    • @pw5315
      @pw5315 2 года назад

      Definitely buy this year, as the other commenter says they're moving to a turbo v6 in 2023. I have a buddy who works at the Lexus manufacturing plant and he confirmed it. Gas mileage won't be much better than the v8 and turbo engines don't last nearly as long as naturally aspirated ones. The current engine can last for 300k easily, 500k or more with good maintenance. Anything with this engine including Land Cruisers are basically this eras "old volvo that lasts for a million miles". Heck if you want you'll be able to pass this rig down to your kids 20-30 years after you buy it.

Totally acknowledge the gas consumption but not once did I worry about a singe mechanical or electrical failure throughout the 2800 mile trip. There is something to be said about the reliability of a Toyota/ Lexus product. We also own a 100 series LC which we drove across country as well with zero issues or worries. Just smooth miles. If you’re looking for a vehicle that you don’t want to worry about for anything and also ride in comfort the ‘22 GX460 is an easy choice. I had the 2018 GX “Premium” and it had so many of the attributes mentioned in this vid though now you get the added bonus of updated technology. I never had a single issue with it. I now have the LX570 (which has also been issue free thus far) and am glad to have gotten it before the LX600 came out - I just can’t bring myself to a V6 after 40+ years of owning V8s. I think if I had gotten the “Luxury” version of the GX I would still be driving it today. It had some nice extras and really didn’t cost much more. I agree that now is the time get one of these if you appreciate beautiful build quality and reliability,not to mention very high resale value.

    This GX460 is my favorite and I was surprised to hear from you that it didn't ride or handle lie a 4-Runner. However, the side opening rear door is a deal breaker because it wouldn't fit in my garage. Lexus also need to redesign the old cheap interior and get rid of the third row seat and captain chairs. It handles or rides BETTER than the 4runner if anything. Smoother ride, seems like a tighter turn radius to me, and definitely has more giddyup to get you up to highway speeds. MPG is only a couple under 4runners too. 15-20 mpg in my GX460 while my son gets maybe 16-22 mpg in his 4runner. A negligible difference really.

I probably should have negotiated higher for the trade value, even the salesman was shocked. I did keep it clean and accessorized it well. I miss the glass hatch in the back but I prefer my LX now for the extra space and hydraulic suspension on all four wheels. Either way I miss that vehicle and there seem to be hundreds on the road here in FL.

The thing is why GX didn’t improve fuel efficiency for over decade! IMO I think it can be done without mess up with the reliable V8 engine. The old sedan LS 460 has much more hp but better gas mileage and it is sure very reliable too!

But I will want another one for daily driving, so I hope the next gen retains the side opening rear tailgate. I almost went with the new sequoia, but like the video says the GX is bulletproof and a proven performer when it comes to reliability. Lexus did a great job making this car better year after year.

      Only thing I do not like 2023 sequoia is it does not have traditional way of toyota cruise control handle.

      Not to mention, it’s a hybrid now with no natural aspirated v8. Very curious how this car will do the first year. I have a feeling that the v8 Toyotas/Lexus will be valuable in the next few years
