  • Dr. Dave Rabin MD, PhD, a board-certified psychiatrist and neuroscientist that has spent his career studying resilience and helping people take control of their mental and physical health. He is currently working on one of the largest controlled studies of psychedelics to better understand how these medicines work to facilitate radically transformative healing experiences.
In this session, Dr. Rabin discusses why psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy possesses unprecedented potential to help individuals overcome trauma and chronic illnesses where traditional therapy, psychiatric care, and western medicine approaches may not be enough.

This is very exciting. I've had depression and anxiety since I was a child. I started taking antidepressants in my 30's. I'm now in my 50's and I do not want to stay on antidepressants and mood stabilizers for my entire life. This would be life changing. I'm in Texas and don't know how long it will take to get here.

You’ll be waiting a long time if it EVER becomes legal in TX. If possible I’d suggest traveling to one of the few places across the country or one of the many places north or south of the border where the treatment is easily and legally attainable. I’m from TX and now live in Oregon and it’s a blessing to have these types of treatments and medicines available. Good luck!

Trauma is a loaded term. Trauma is what happens in our physiology- not in the event. Trauma can be what we did not get. I like that academics are now using the term ‘stored survival stress’ to put more emphasis on our nervous system.
Trauma is not what happens to us but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness. Peter Levin

So I am really hoping this will help with all this. Anyone know roughly how long it can take micro dosing to see some positive changes in mood?

I hope someone with a medical background or even someone who has recovered can help me. The default mode network section of this video described what I thought was going on with me but didn't know how to explain it. I'll explain. Due to suffering some trauma I experienced an episode of disassociation. One night I was crying hysterically but also feeling a whole array of different emotions all at the same time, anger, hurt sorrow even happiness. Anyway, all of a sudden I felt nothing, I mean nothing. No sadness, anger, distress, nothing, it was like it just all suddenly turned off. It was surreal and I actually recall thinking to myself, "hey what happened, I cant feel anything". I began to mentally panic or worry but had no emotion to match those thoughts. I was a strange sensation and it actually felt like I drifted from my body and i could see myself sitting down where i was sitting. I know thats not physically possible but that is what it felt like. Its really hard to explain.
Anyway I later learned that it was called disassociation. Now my interpretation of it was that the emotions I was feeling was way to much for my brain to cope, so it shut that part down. I'm thinking the default mode network got shut down and the section responsible for fight and flight responses. Because for the next two weeks I felt amazing. I felt like I could just be me without any of the insecurities or not feeling comfortable in my own skin etc etc. It was like all my trauma responses were shut down and I could experience my authentic self for the first time. I looked in the mirror and saw the same face but it was like meeting a new person. It was really that profound. Oh and another thing is I could detect "energy" from people, not reading body language but energy. It sounds weird because I used to think that people that went on about energy, frequency and vibration were nuts. But here I was, detecting other peoples energy and also my own. It was so empowering being at total peace with yourself. Anyway, after about two weeks the "default state" must have kicked back in and all that energy was gone and all my now understood trauma responses have taken over and now control my identity.
My question is, can psilocybin treatment return me back to that authentic state again, free from my subconscious trauma responses and allow me to feel like the real me again. And will it be more permanent that a two week stint?

Psychedelics aren't needed at all, I wouldn't ever take stuff like that, sex and sexual activity also not needed for awakening or enlightenment.
Trauma healing has a very unique patter that is non linear if you try to treat it linear it does not work.. Trauma healing has its own pattern the barrier to it is people's interference in your healing process.
I know people who have taken these and they've all ended up dependant, some even went on to give microdose people and harmed them.
I'm not judging here, going from my own values and as a sensitive as natural as possible is a must that's why drugs, alcohol and medication does not fare well with people who are sensitive or have experienced a lot of trauma.
Beyond dual/non dual you come out of these inner conflicts.

The only med combination that has worked for me is adderrall & klonopin. I have literally tried every antidepressant and every med that isn't a narcotic. I was just put on stratterra and had a horrible experience. I had to stop taking it and I am still having consequences. When you aren't able to function at all. Some days struggle to take a shower or take care of yourself you will try anything. It is not fun or healthy to live like this. Actually I can't even consider this living. I have tried microdosing and I am able to feel my emotions and process them for the 1st time I am not dissociating. All the supposed non addicting meds from a Dr. Are a bitch to get off and have horrible side effects.
