As a longsnapper you can only see the ball for a sec and don’t see it hit your target necessarily so when u F up you don’t know until you realize the ball isn’t punted

Either go for it, or sneak the punter in on third down and quick kick like they did in the old days. Anything but keep doing what clearly isn't working.

I was a high school/JUCO longsnapper and I never understood how or why guys snapped without looking back at their target. I was too worried that this exact thing would happen if I didn't look. 😬 (The snapper in this video appeared to be looking at the ground when he was snapping.)
It's not because of head/eye placement. Many pro snappers are "no-look." Given the weather conditions the ball was probably soaked, making it a lot heavier than normal. In which case the snapper has to put extra force into getting the ball 15 yards. But if you don't practice in wet conditions, it makes judging the force required nearly impossible. Hence, the bad snaps.

I was a punter and a QB in high school & college… I worked with my long snapper during every practice and before every game to make sure our communication and the snap is perfect. This is akin to long snapper tryouts, that’s how bad this is 😂
I had one friend that could not for the life of him snap shotgun and we had a sub coach in that game for OC and he didn't know and called a shotgun play... I should've just called a time out but 13 year old me was too nervous to go against the coach so I just jumped as high as I could when he snapped it lols didn't end well

Honestly though, you'd think after the first two, the coach would just put the center in and do a shotgun snap with a quick kick it to the sideline rather than keep risking this. Getting 20 or 30 yards on a short punt is better than free points.
Don't most college teams have a backup long snapper just in case the regular one gets injured? The blind long snapper at USC was legitimately the backup long snapper as he was a long snapper in high school.

I don't understand why deep snappers don't look at the punter anymore. It's basic hand-eye coordination principles. The deep snapper is a protected position just like the punter. By rule, he cannot be hit until after the ball is snapped and he has an opportunity to get his head up. Before this rule was put into place, coaches would put a player over the deep snapper at a running start and hit the center in the back of the neck after the ball was snapped.
Are you allowed to have somebody take a snap from your regular center and then turn around and pitch it to your punter? If so, they maybe should have tried that before this got to 4.
I had something similar to this happen to me in high school. We were in the state quarterfinals and I snapped it over the quarterback's head multiple times. Not a fun situation to be in.
I was getting ready to comment something like "wow really great punting and defense to pin the offense back and then get these sacks/TFLs." Then I saw the first one and was like "well ok, still 3 good plays by the defense/punt team." After the second one, I gave up on having anything positive to say.

After the 2nd they would've been better off moving the punter closer and doing a "quick kick" off the side of his foot. Otherwise just go for it. I just don't understand being so determined to "get it right " in a game.
Update: Weber State scored a touchdown to only be down by five, but fail the 2PT. Right now losing because of all of the safeties.

Bobcat stadium has had some crazy stuff this year. 1st that crazy fake punt that was 22-23 yards long and they converted it and now the 4 safeties
