It's not just that they threw the ball, it was the type of play they chose. It would have been a good call to let Russell Wilson do a bootleg where he has a chance to run it into the end zone, and he can throw it away if everyone is covered (with no intentional grounding penalty). You included the one between South Carolina and Georgia in 2019, but another good one would have been between South Carolina and Missouri in 2013. Missouri at the time was 7-0 and ranked 5th/7th in the national polls. South Carolina came into the game at 5-2 and ranked 20th in both polls. The game was played in Columbia, Missouri. The Tigers' kicker converts on a 27-yd field goal with 6:46 remaining in the 3rd quarter to put Missouri's lead to 17-0 heading into the 4th quarter. But the Gamecocks storm back to score 17 points in the final quarter - the final touchdown coming with just 42 seconds left of game - to tie the game and force overtime. Both teams trade touchdowns and force the game into a second overtime. South Carolina would have the ball first, and score on a 40-yd FG to take the lead 27-24. Missouri on their first play would gain a 17-yard rush to get to the 8-yd line, 1st and goal. They would only gain 2 more yards after that, and their kicker comes in to kick a 24-yd game-tying field goal. His kick hits the left upright and bounces away no good, and South Carolina hands Missouri their first loss of the season, and steals the victory 27-24.....

It is amazing that coaches don't immediately bench/suspend players for this. And I don't mean if their actions cost them a game. But any time they do it until they stop doing it. Players would rather get on Sportscenter (even though no one has watched that in 20 years since the internet made it obsolete) than win a game. Fun fact...no game has ever been WON due to taunting or excessive celebration. By a huge number of games have been lost. And players keep on doing it.
Several years ago, some asshole BEFORE THE SUPERBOWL said he didn't care if he would get called for a penalty and it cost his team, he was going to do his contrived, juvenile, overly rehearsed "spontaneous" touchdown celebration. The “Kick Six” that Auburn hung on Bama would have fit in well with the video, but not because the kicker missed. Saban’s hubris to try a kick that neither of his kickers were capable of making was asking for it, and Auburn was more than ready to run it back. That one was all on Saban.

You only blame the kicker when he misses the point after, never for missing a field goal. It's his job to make the point after once the rest of the offense scored the touchdown.
A field goal attempt is necessary only because the offense was unable to get the ball to the end zone, so the kicker is being forced to try to score 3 points on his own when the rest of the offense couldn't score 6.

Bottom line, better execution
That's how you know people get paid to throw games in the NFL. Even a person with little to no football IQ would have ran the ball. It was like 2nd and goal
It's not just that they threw the ball, it was the type of play they chose.
It would have been a good call to let Russell Wilson do a bootleg where he has a chance to run it into the end zone, and he can throw it away if everyone is covered (with no intentional grounding penalty). But not giving him the chance to run it in if the defense falls for the play fake, and not giving him the option to just throw it away instead of throwing into coverage, that's what makes it an especially bad play call.
Not such a terrible call when you realize that Wilson lead the receiver too much. A better pass would have shielded Butler from the ball. Watch the video--you'll see.

Can’t forget the fact that sc won that game Bc Connor Shaw was put in late 3rd quarter after not playing all game Bc of an injury. Shaw provided an unbelievable comeback against arguably one of the best teams in the nation at that point
What’s even more crazy is how close the game should’ve been, sc had 2 fumbles in opposing territory, one being on the 2 yard line, and had an interception as well all within the first half. One of the greatest South Carolina games in recent history
