Another great rig, well explained. Great stuff. I've been experimenting on the most productive way on fishing the PVA bag. Add a loop to the hooklink so you can loop on a new one to the swivel when needed. Use an avid stem, so you can prepare bags in advance and just loop onto you leader or mainline when needed. Use the fox rapid system, really easy to make bags up tight without any tape. Tight lines 👍

Hi John for day sessions I am using solid bags more and more as it reduces the amount of gear I take on spod and marker spod mix bolies etc etc . I as you have recommended tie them at home in advance and keep them in them dry and inject liquid into the bag on the bank, my question is how long can I confidently leave them tied up that I know the little mainline wafters I use won’t dry out or not act how they are designed as I don’t get on the bank much at the minute. Thanks in advance
Brilliant video thanks! For someone new to pva bags, can I make the bags up in advance using the smart liquid? How long would they last in storage please?
Yes you can, as long as you keep the PVA away from moisture - so it is possible to make bags a week or so in advance. Although if making bags in advance I find it better to make a small hole for the Smart Liquid nozzle in the side of the bag and squeeze some in just before casting out.
Yet another brilliant video. Keep them coming. I Used the snowman pop rig the other weekend and what a difference. Me catch rate has gone up ill have to try this one 👌as well
Yes you can... but don't add the liquid until you get to the lake. Instead insert the nozzle into the side of the bag and add the liquid just before casting out - you'll see how its done in this video: ruclips.net/video/qXCTzhGaCiY/видео.html
@@nickcross2900 For the hookbait I'd go for something fairly small and wafting or popped up so it fill sit above the pellets; Pastel Barrel Wafters, 12mm Balanced Wafters are perfect as are the Toppers for a popped up presentation. The Spod & PVA pellets are then great as the fill because theres so many different sizes in one mix - so they breakdown at different times and fill any unwanted air pockets helping you make a compact bag.
Does anyone find the pellets stick together too much once the pva has melted when using the smart liquid? I have done tests and they seem to just clump together. Any help would be appreciated!

Superb and very informative 👌 with this rig using supple braid is there any need for a sinker just down from the hook eye? I noticed one was not used in this video, cheers John 👍
Forgive me if I sound thick but does this mean every time I catch a carp using this method I loose my weight onto the bottom of the lake? If so I don’t think it’s that smart.
Yes this means you lose the lead, but without the lead the hooked fish will swim much higher in the water, making it much easier to play to the bank when the lake is weedy. If the lake or fishing situation is free from weed or snags then you can attach the inline lead conventionally so it won't drop off.
Hi im new to mainline baits couid u tell me how the smart liquid wouid work in a coloured water situation plz as im using cell for the first time on a new water and want to maximise my chances of landing a lump with it
In most cases, yes the lead will discharge on the take - so in clear water conditions, where there is no likelihood of a hooked fish getting stuck in weed or snags I'd use a standard inline lead set-up.
Hi Carlos, here's a link to our Spinner Rig video: ruclips.net/video/5dZ6_KnTZ7U/видео.html We crimp Boom material for the boom section in this video - so simply substitute that with a coated braid and use a grinner knot to attach to the Spinner Swivel and a figure-eight-loop-knot to attach the rig to a quick change swivel.

Does it majorly impact the effectiveness of the rig if it doesnt? Am not sure i want to leave the couple of lakes i fish cluttered up with leads within a few seasons lol
No you don't always need to use a drop off lead system, but... if you're fishing a weedy situation, dropping the lead makes landing fish a whole lot easier.
Another banger john, I've never been a fan of PVA I guess I just got bad luck with rain so avoided it, after this vid I'm considering avin another bash on next trip, 1 question tho I use anti tangle sleeves n qc swivel so is this way still possible as u didn't, many thanks looking forward to next vid already lol
Yes you could, but as the rig can't tangle in the bag and to also keep it nice and short I just tie the rig straight to the ring swivel. Another little tip is to make up a few bags (at home before your session) and keep them in the tup with the pellets so they stay dry - any mishaps or after landing fish theres another bag ready to go!
Thankyou for replying I’m just curious because I bought the ready made solid bag leaders from Korda and I was struggling how to fit it onto the safety inline lead system. Are those two compatible or would I need to make my own leader to go on the inline lead system?
@@cuthbert95 If you use the ready tied PVA bag leaders korda you would need to remove the swivel already on the leader and then attach to the safety sleeve of the inline kit loop-to-loop.
Generally speaking, the carp will become less active, so pick venues with a high stock of fish where having some active carp present is more likely. Attraction rather than quantity can be key where baits are concerned, bright hookbaits such as our Hi-Visual Pop-ups coupled with a match spray can be a real winner. As we've mentioned the fish can become quite dormant so don't be afraid to recast, and move around the lake where possible until you find the pockets of fish. Hope this helps a little, we will have winter tip videos hitting the channel soon!
Hi Ethan, in weedy or snaggy fishing situations it can pay to drop the lead as it becomes much easier to land the fish as they generally swim much higher in the water, so tend to not get stuck in weedbeds etc. In clear water situations this is not needed and the inline lead can be set-up in the standard way.
Great video as always very instructive will try the same set up next trip never used a solid bag many thanks John just a quick question if you don't mind me asking I live in Plymouth and I'm thinking of fishing upper tamar as I have watched a few of your videos and you have been on South west lakes fishing your self do you have any advice or tips many thank Tom
Hey Tommy, yep solid bags can be a real winner - especially on venues where the carp like pellets. As for Upper Tamar... firstly a lovely lake with a good head of carp, and its fishing really well at the moment. Its a big lake at around 80 acres but don't be put off by that as you can normally find some fish in most areas. The carp will follow the wind and do like the margins so don't ignore a rod in the edge, and in most cases fishing at catapult range is a good bet. There lots of silver fish so boilies of 15-20mm size are my number one choice, with Cell and Essential Cell doing really well. Apart from that speak to Aaron in the tackle shop as he knows the lake really well and can help point you in the right direction. Tight lines over there fella!
Many thanks John must appreciated I've done a lot of research but never had first hand knowledge of the lake so every little helps many thanks never know may see you there as its in your neck of the woods many thanks again
Hi Andy, without the Smart Liquid or where the Smart Liquid isn't in contact with the PVA its only a minute or so - a little longer around the tail rubber where the bag is tied and the PVA is more dense. Because the Smart Liquid is PVA Friendly it will prolong the breakdown time of the PVA - a handy edge when you're fishing in deep water and want to ensure the bag is well on the bottom before melting. In this video you can see with the Smart Liquid in the middle the bottom of the bag melts first to expose the hookbait then the middle of the bag and remaining feed a little later.
Thanks! I don't really go over 3oz as coupled with the weight of the pellets the overall bag is fairly heavy, meaning you need a shock leader and of course a capable rod. So I much prefer 2.5oz where possible.
Hi Jim, there are not really any hard set rules here, as you can get a large lead into a small bag - but as a rule of thumb I'd use a small bag for casting further, a large bag when lakebed debris is a concern i.e. more fill in the bag makes a bigger spread for the hookbait to be well presented. Because you need to consider the weight of the overall bag i.e. lead plus pellets I tend to use a 2.5oz lead most (in a small bag) so I cast with 15lb main line and without the need of a shock leader. Hope this helps.
I'd use the rig the video Debbie - just a simple Hair Rig using soft braid a size 6 hook and a Pastel Barrel Wafter that will sit nicely within the pellets.
I love this product but I noticed you didn't put the smart liquid at the bottom of the bag? I've found if you do this it prolongs the breakdown massively of the PVA and pellet around the hookbait. This is great in deep water but I've found if you are after "a quick bite" the smart liquid soaked pellet and hookbait can stay in a solid mass for ages with the hookbait literally trapped, especially if tied up in advance. It seems like a waste of a bag and bait but always tank test your solid bags before a session!
Yep Ben you can use the Smart Liquid or other PVA friendly liquids to prolong the PVA dissolve - great in deep water like you say. With this bag it was in the middle so the bottom section melts quickly to expose the hookbait with the centre of the bag dispersing attraction for a little longer. Thanks for your tips!
Brilliant video as usual! Also have a question for you - currently considering a base mix for milky-chocolate wafters, and struggling to chose from Cell, Essential Cell and High Leakage 50/50. Would appreciate any suggestions/advises/thoughts on that. Cheers
As they are hookbaits I’d go for the High Leakage 50/50 which will also have a neutral flavour to accept your flavour choices then mix with cork dust or Polaris pop-up mix to create a Wafter. 👍
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV Thanks for the quick reply! That's makes sense to me. And what about activators, the water is getting cold so whether it worth to use them? If so how what's the ratio you'd recommend to start with?
Great video again John. Ill be using these tactics in couple weeks. Ive got bait ready :) smart liquid is so good I won't leave home without it. If people feel uncomfortable with shrink tube or the steam part, you can buy some korda kickers to help with that.

How long in advance could you make these up before the smart liquid soaks into the pellets or ground bait? Thinking of making a few up the night before to be ready to go when I get to the bank.
The night before should be fine Dave - even if the Smart Liquid soaks into the baits a little it will still react. You can also squirt the Smart Liquid into the already tied bag just before casting out, as you can see in this video: ruclips.net/video/qXCTzhGaCiY/видео.html

@@cuthbert95 If you use the ready tied PVA bag leaders korda you would need to remove the swivel already on the leader and then attach to the safety sleeve of the inline kit loop-to-loop.
What test curve rods do you use .
Hi Paul I use a 3.5 tc rod
Thanks m8 .
Can you use tubing instead of leadcore?
Great vid! Can I use a popup instead of a wafter?
MegaUser1974 Thanks - yes you could.
What size silicon tubing did you use? Great video, very helpful 🤙🏻
Its the small size.
Hey guys...any tips for cold season fishing ? Thanks
Look hard and find them then put a single on them mate 👍
8:17 where can i buy this green piece of plastic?
I’m a new fisherman and I’m a bit confused on the led bit so when a fish pulled the led just comes of in the water?
Hi Ethan, in weedy or snaggy fishing situations it can pay to drop the lead as it becomes much easier to land the fish as they generally swim much higher in the water, so tend to not get stuck in weedbeds etc. In clear water situations this is not needed and the inline lead can be set-up in the standard way.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV thanks alot
@@tommyrennie2070 No worries - good luck!
Im base in Asia,,,where can I buy all those bait and bags?tq
Can you close the pva bag any other way then with pva tape?
Yep you can lick and twist the top around the lead's tail rubber.
How long on average does it take for a PVA bag to fully break down? I know water temperature is a big factor, but just an average.
Where can i find the little spoon? Ty
NIИ that comes flat with the PVA bag and folds/clips together 👍
Perfect video manual 👍 what is the maximum weight of lead you use?
Thanks! I don't really go over 3oz as coupled with the weight of the pellets the overall bag is fairly heavy, meaning you need a shock leader and of course a capable rod. So I much prefer 2.5oz where possible.
THX a lot mate. 🙂👍
I like to pierce my pva bags with my baiting needle even though they are perforated is that a bad idea or does it help with pva meltdown
Thats fine - just be mindful when fishing in deep water - you want to know the bag is reaching the bottom before melting.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV perfect thank you
I pierce mine with a n needle syringe containing my liquid attractor. Works a treat matey
@@beaconwonderer926 I wasn't a fan of using the syringe it works well but prefer pouring in some smart liquid works wonders
What size shrink tubing did you use?
Eastern underground sounds Hi that’s small size shrink tubing
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV cool, any tips for using them with pop ups or is just the same?
Eastern underground sounds I’d go for a similar short rig and a small hookbait like a 12mm Hi-Visual pop-up.
What size lead is the best to use with what size bag.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV thats great thanks
Nice vid what rig would you recommend for a beginner and what size hookbait
I'd use the rig the video Debbie - just a simple Hair Rig using soft braid a size 6 hook and a Pastel Barrel Wafter that will sit nicely within the pellets.
Mainline Baits Carp Fishing TV is this a giveaway if it is how do you enter
@@debbiemess9433 Hi Debbie, sorry no - in this video we were announcing the winner of our last giveaway.
Mainline Baits Carp Fishing TV ok 👍 thanks
So you loose alot of leads ?
Only if you set the lead to drop i.e. its going to help you land hooked carp in weedy conditions, oh and you hook a load of carp (hopefully!)
And whats the name of the Feed shovel
Dennis Bleicher they come with the PVA bags flat inside and you fold it together.
Constantine C the activators will be fine in cold water - I’d use 5mm to one egg (for hookbaits).
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV Thanks a lot! Cheers
Constantine C no worries!
Great video again John. Ill be using these tactics in couple weeks. Ive got bait ready :) smart liquid is so good I won't leave home without it. If people feel uncomfortable with shrink tube or the steam part, you can buy some korda kickers to help with that.
Thanks David glad you're enjoying the videos and good luck on that next session! Yep, you can always use a pre made kicker instead of shrink tubing.
Wouldnt use kickers they move and come off when packing the bag tight always stick to shrink tube😎
Hello sir I'm from pakistan. I try all baits but i can't carp fish. what can i do. help me plz
Start with a simple Hair Rig with corn, maize or a boilie as the hookbait, as well as some feed will get you going.
How can we participate for the giveaways at the end of each video? 😊
Hi Marcus, in this video we announced the winner of our last giveaway held in the previous video - so generally speaking we give the details of a giveaway in one video and announce the winner in the next one. Keep watching the videos - they'll be another giveaway soon!
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV 👌
Send me some bait here in the US. Let’s see what we can make happen.
@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV Cool, thanks for that. I’m coming back to carp fishing and to say it’s changed a fair bit since the 90’s! lol Your videos have be great for getting me back up to speed.
@@Yosser70 No probs fella!
It seems logical to turn the PVA bag inside out first, so as to avoid having to lick and stick the corners. Not many of the experts show doing it that way however. Why is this?
По Вашему базару не волоку, но по ролику все понял 👍
Great!
