  • Here's another little gem by an Australian composer, which to my knowledge, hasn't been recorded before this! It's a single movement extracted from Hill's solo piano work 'Garden Sketches', arranged for violin and piano. Published in 1949, this work is sweet and colourful, and permeated with delicate lyricism.
I'm joined here by Ben Adler, a violinist who has built up an enviable reputation as a soloist, orchestral player, and chamber musician. He performs extensively with his klezmer band 'Chutney', and you can hear plenty of great recordings of their work on their RUclips channel: / @chutneyband4845
    Piano: Peter Anthony Smith
    Violin: Ben Adler
Recorded in Room 3047 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on the 25th of January, 2023.

Glad you appreciated it! I didn't realise the sheer amount of works Mirrie Hill wrote - there are over 500 of her works for piano! There's definitely some great pieces in there that would make the transition well to other ensembles and instruments.
