@@corineoudot7378The lead singer is Iva Davies. He has been their lead singer since their inception. I think that he's just one of those lucky people whose voice hasn't been degraded by time.
Yes, you are right... Today its all the same and also the same producer for several groups... But something real..? No.... just a few.... it became rare:-((
Exactly forty years ago , aged 21 , I was pregnant with my first son and I was in town to buy Christmas presents. I went into a record shop and heard this song for the first time and was spellbound immediately, bought the LP right away , I still have it. the song always reminds me on the time when I was expecting my son impatiently, i love the hypnotic line of it and the cool sound simply great song! Next year, 25th January my son turns 40
Isn't it great how some classic songs flash us right back to a specific moment in time when they really burned their way into our minds forever, and we can recall so much about that moment.
I was stationed in Germany, and walked into a record store and they played Ice House, bought the album there and then, still have the vinyl, still love them!
Absolutely loved Icehouse back then and even more so now ❤️. Haven't they stood the test of time!!! Voices and sound as crisp and clear now ❤️. Much, much love from Dublin, Ireland ❤️😍..... Now, how about a tour over this direction 😊🤞🙏😍
I am an Australian and been living in the UK for the past 4 and a half years. I would love to see Icehouse live here in the UK. I was 17 when this song came out and followed their music right from the beginning. I love their music and he still sounds like he did back in the 80’s! 😃👍
In the early 80s my best friend was a guy called Ian. The main thing we shared was a love of music and hearing this again for the first time in decades took me right back to 1983. Ians sister had lived in Oz and she had a fantastic record collection. We had already been listening to icehouse for a while before they released any records in England and people couldn't understand how we knew their music. As is often the case time marched on and a couple of years later we had gone our separate ways. We still got on ok and had a chat on the rare occasion we bumped into each other. Ian became a DJ and I went into the security industry. I saw him for about 10 minutes in around 1995 and we vowed to keep in touch but we never did. I bumped into his girlfriend about a week after his 40th birthday and said I hoped he had a good day. She told me that I'd missed his funeral a few days before and that he'd died alone a week before his birthday. Hearing icehouse again made me think how precious friends are.
Great live performance! Michael Paynter does a great job on keys as well! Nailing the old Prophet 5 sounds is really important to bring that true icehouse sound!
A really good song doesn't age and still works after 45 years. I wasn't into any kind of dance music back then - this Australian band opened the door for me. Simply a beautiful song, a mega cool groove and a super nice new performance. Simply magic.
This song changed the way I thought about myself. In a positive way ofcause. I just love this track and by the grace of God I was there when it hit the charts in the UK so many decades ago.
Ouvi pela primeira quando vivia no Brasil, agora quando nao sei o que fazer, fico ouvindo icehouse, só assim o tempi passa a correr, abraço de Portugal
At 1:17 the song starts with Iva introducing Hey Little Girl! Icehouse has also one of the best sounding bass players that I have ever had the pleasure of listening too!
Love Aussie bands. Icehouse brings back some fab memories of my youth. Come to the UK Icehouse....Street Cafe my fav Great Southern Land should be the Australian national anthem...x

When I first heard this song, I thought it was Bryan Ferry, the voice, the style, and then I saw the video and was a bit taken aback, this guy, Iva Davis has this lovely voice ... this live performance show, his voice is still strong.
I remember the song, though vaguely nowadays but I had Bryan Ferry as the vocalist (also) for this song how wrong I can be but did think the 'No Promises' track was underestimated....which had a David Bowie thing going on.
@@templarseries As the previous comment says, David Bowie comes to mind also. However, it is Iva and he has classical training, and his voice is still wonderful! I like "No Promises" and "Man of Colours" too.
