Sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Trent Izaiah Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I really enjoyed this video. Even though we don’t have the same curl type , I learned helpful tips and tricks ! I always struggle with refreshing. I find that when I have to really refresh my hair (skipping wash day when I really need it lol) like day 5 I end up with different curl patterns around my head because it doesn’t dry the same as day 1 hair .
Thanks so much! This was so informative. And your afternoon or morning hair looks so similar to what I deal with. It was great to see how you adjusted your refresh routine based on what you saw going on with the curls. I guess that I had hoped to find a holy grail refresh routine... something that always worked... but that had not happened for me yet. So it is good to understand that may never be possible since there are too many variables and to be okay with that. Showing how you make the adjustments each day was really helpful. Thanks again!
Oh, and I forgot to mention this in my first comment... You said in the video that touching your hair with the diffuser creates more frizz. So true! I have had a lot of problems with that. To help, I have been lining my sink in the bathroom with a t-shirt and flipping my hair over into that while I hoover diffuse down into the sink. It's like diffusing with your hair plopped loosely in a bowl, or like one those hood driers at the salon but upside down. I feel like it keeps the air moving down the hair cuticle instead of up so you get less frizz. I dunno! LOL I have seen people hoover diffuse with their hair plopped on a flat surface, and I thought the bowl shape of the sink would keep the air all around my hair more. Seems to be working quite well! I do that (repositioning my head) until the cast feels pretty set and the roots are mostly dry. Then I will stand more upright to finish out. I'm 5'10ft tall and my countertop is not crazy high... so flipping my hair over into the sink is not hard. If the sink is too high, you could just use a bowl and place it wherever suits your height.
What a great video. I’ve watched it twice. I think I’m going to introduce co-washing to my routine. I usually wash my hair every 3rd day or so because I feel like it’s dirty and I do tend to get some build up. I’m wondering if washing it too much is causing the buildup so I’m gonna try co-washing. Anyways...great content. Really appreciate the time you spent on this video.
i find your videos so cool because i finally hear a routine that sounds like mine lol. i gave up on the hair community back in 2019 cuz nothing i saw for my texture really worked, and figured i’d just try stuff like i used to before the natural hair movement lol.
Great video! Thank you for sharing your "real" hair after sleeping :-). I am pretty new at taking care of my curly hair and have been watching many of your videos. I use the Clarifying Carol's Daughter Wash Day Delight shampoo. Is there a difference between low poo and co-wash, pros/cons? Thank you.
Really needed to watch this because I have been struggling with finding the right refresh methods but really think your methods will work on my hair because we’ve got very similar hair 😁
Just found you, second video I have washed and a few questions come to mind. What is that towel that you put on your hair when you finish washing? Also how do I find out the perosity (ms?) of my hair? Also what do I learn from that information? Sorry if you have answered these in other videos I will be watching more of your videos soon.
I love your tips and advice, Gena! :) I need to get a bonnet or silk pillowcase because I don't have a good one right now. I'm watching refreshing videos and one thing that still stumps me, though, is, do we detangle our hair every day, or do we only detangle on the actual wash official day (shampoo/conditioner day)?
So true that tip about co-washing. When I first started I didn't take into account that I have fine hair and was co-washing too much to the point where I caused my scalp seborrheic dermatitis (that plus stress) and the medicated shampoo kind of took me back to square one. Nowadays I alternate between a regular shampoo and a co-wash and don't let too many days go by between washes. I was curious, maybe I missed it but do you condition when you co-wash? Or simply use the co-wash?
It depends on how my hair feels after. Since I used the NYM 3in1, I just added a little more of it back in after I rinsed it out when I cleansed. Since it can be used as a leave in
Your hair is curlier than mine. It looks like you are a strong 3b even pushing the c. For me I’m more 3a with some ares of b. So when it comes to refreshing, maybe I’m not putting product in right. I can get weighed down very easily but I usually put my head in the sink to wet, quickly so I do not get rid of much product. And I start over. It is frustrating. I have just ordered satin caps and I use bamboo sheets so they are a bit slippery. I wish I was more of a b than a. Do you know what to tell those of us 3A people or even with less curl than me? Because refreshing is almost like starting over each day.
Hi Gena, is oil the only thing that should be applied to hair before wash day? I used to apply a leave in conditioner but I don’t think I should do that right? 😅
Hi GM, I need help. I have so much frizz, high porosity, low density wavy/curly hair (unsure of curl pattern). Do you even do consults on what products and habits may help me?
I’m looking to try the Ouidad stronger hold gel but wondered if you use it in all seasons or just winter/summer? Also, have you tried the Jessicurl Spiralicious gel?
I’ve never tried Jessicurl! But yes, I use the Ouidad gel all seasons because I have high porosity hair so it is very sensitive to even a little humidity
Gena M would you be willing to do a review on the Jessicurl line? I’d love to get your thoughts/feedback. Their products are glycerin free and is said to work well in humidity/all season. I got a bunch of free samples by visiting their website and heard great things about the brand but haven’t tried it yet. Also, as you probably know Virginia’s weather can be so unpredictable and while I’ve heard great things about the Ouidad gel, I wondered if it was one of those gels that would hold up on super cold days and super hot days. 😁
Jessicurl Spiralicious is one those gels that I want to love - great company, great ingredients, smells good - but I have not been able to make it work for me. I have fine, low density, high porosity hair and Spiralicious just doesn’t have enough hold. I have tried it in high and low humidity and I always have to pair it with a another strong hold gel for wash day. Since it is a cream gel I now use it for refreshing but I don’t think I will buy it again. But order the samples from them direct and give it a try...they offer samples of everything (unscented versions only)... it may work for you. I’m still on the hunt for the right gel...I’m hoping the Ouidad gel will work me.
A question about shampoos, can a shampoo still be clarifying if it’s free of sulfates? The Jamaican black Castor oil one from Shea moisture says it’s clarifying.
Quick question darling, when you don’t properly take care of your curls do your roots start to flatten and not curl ? Because I’m wondering if I don’t take care of my hair or is it just because my hair is not super curly
@@kasie9578 girl no! i dont hate my hair, frankly i love it, i just was never taught how to take care of it, its been super interesting understanding it and finding out how to work with it. embrace it!!

@Skylar Boston Happy to help =)
I had been wanting someone to go through an entire week routine and see the reality of CGM. Thank you!
Sorry to ask, newbie here what’s CGM?
It was very helpful hearing you talk through how you evaluate your hair/scalp and seeing real life hair days during the week!
Thanks so much for the feedback!
I agree with you Melissa. I would like to see a routine like this with the different seasons.
I really enjoyed this video. Even though we don’t have the same curl type , I learned helpful tips and tricks ! I always struggle with refreshing. Thank you! I always recommend clarifying and/or shampooing along with cowashing, because cowashing alone can lead to buildup.

I love the look of your unrefreshed hair. It looks fuller and more natural and not stringy at all. Looser curls are beautiful too.
Thank you for your in depth video! I will try this!

Right I wonder the same I feel like my hair gets tangled
@@justinajohnson7602 I find that spraying with water bottle (mist) and lightly applying leave-in and a little bit of gel usually revives my curls.
I need to get better with refreshing. I tend to just let my hair stretch out and then put it up or in a braid if it looks bad.

Great video! I never heard of some of these tips so it was very helpful and I can’t wait to try them out!

Love this so much! Usually everybody shows their good hair days. It is nice to see that your hair is like mine. Not always looking fabulous🤪🤣
Thank you for this highly informative video 🤗. Can I apply the Olaplex together with a deep conditioner?

Hi so I can use a mask and deep conditioner together?
After you cowash, can you use different products in your hair than you used on wash day or should you use the same ones as wash day?
This video was extremely helpful!!
Hi Gena! We have the same hair, you are lovely, I've just discovered you and have alot of catching up to do.
Do you workout every day? If so, would you still cowash only once a week?
Hi. You didn't show your shampoo brush. Could you show that brush, please? Thank you

What kind of a brush did you use?
Great video! Nice to see I’m not the only one with almost straight hair in the neck in the morning. Is a leave in cream better then a leave in spray?
Either works well!

Where do you buy brush?

I wish I could last as long but my hair is so thin and my scalp is super visual on day 1 so day 2 it’s bad 😅
How long does your wash day take from start to finish?
About 35 min when rushing for a quick wash and go, 45min-1 hour on weekends when I do treatments and put more effort in.
What is a co-wash?
Can you pls do an update routine of urs?
It was very helpful thank you❤❤❤
How did u rinse it out After u did your makeup??? 👀👀👀
I lean over my tub and use a handheld shower head to rinse :)
