The music, the flashbacks, the dialogues, the hit impact's, the speed, the determination on luffy's face, the surprise on Lucci's, men everything is perfect in that scene
yeah in my opinion to this day this is the best fight in one piece due to those combined reasons, it's just epic as all hell, truly cinematic... it's a shame we haven't got another fight like this after enies lobby, lucci and luffy truly were equal in this fight and the only reason why lucci lost was cuz luffy got motivated by usopp which is a small but significant buff
Lucci made the same mistake Blueno made: they thought they could tank the attack with Iron Body, but they should’ve dodged instead. But it also makes sense that Lucci is surprised/shocked by Luffy’s tenacity, and he’s also pretty much worn out, and one of his leg is badly injured. So maybe he couldn’t dodge even if he chose to
Luccis mistake was to underestimate luffy, but to use iron body to tank luffys punches was the only and smartest option. Those punches came in such a speed that it was impossible for him to dodge. They showed luffy punches in slow motion, and we can see multiple hands in different spots at the same time, this shows how fast luffys punches were.
There was nothing to dodge. Neither for Blueno nor Lucci. Remember the first Gear Second attack? Luffy was just too fast for them. They knew that Tekkai was there only choice.
It's one of the best "Ora Ora Ora" styled attacks, because it kind of fulfills this little desire we have when characters do these attacks in anime: why do they stop, why don't they keep going? We don't care if you're flailing around, stuck in one place, just keep going! And Luffy just keeps going and going and you can see the desperate effort he's going through as he screams for his arms to keep going all day, if needed, if that's what it takes to finally crack that wall.
@3slicessenpai Well said. Aside from the emotions that this scene brings across, I also just really like how it is drawn. You can't see the arms beyond the shoulders because they now move too fast, but you still get the steam and the impact. It's so simple, yet equally effective because of the simplicity, imo. Gatling was already his fastest attack prior to Gear 2, and this is like he squared its speed. It's raw and easy to understand. You _know_ this is it. There is nothing more powerful coming out of that young man anytime soon. It's a beautiful crescendo. Later on, we often see supposed "jet" moves that don't nearly look as fast because they just animated too much. As far as I'm concerned, Luffy never punched as fast ever again. Harder, yes, but not faster.
The moment was legendary, top 5 of luffy, but not 100 percent sure as to where rob would be in terms of villians. As of now I think dolflamingo is top villian, not sure if Rob even makes top 5
When his big rokugan still didn't put Luffy down, something in Lucci broke. He realized that literally nothing he did was going to make Luffh quit fighting. He didn't like it, but it was the only explanation he could manage for how this rubber boy was standing up with pure willpower.
That’s honestly one of great things about Luffy’s fights. Other than Kaido, every person Luffy has fought went from arrogantly believing Luffy to be nothing special to losing their minds trying to put Luffy down.
This. This is still the best fight in the entire series. The desperation and sheer will power to come out of this alive and save Robin from evil. There was no laughter here, this was dead serious. This was the point where Luffy was facing a much stronger and much more skilled enemy at last. Up to this point Luffy has not been pushed to 120%. It was until Lucci.
Technically, Crocodile, Enel, and Aokiji were all stronger than Lucci. It’s just that Luffy was Enel’s natural enemy, he slowly learned new ways to fight Crocodile, and he only got lucky with Aokiji because of Garp. It’s just that Lucci was the first opponent that was stronger than Luffy, Luffy could reasonably fight, and that also forced Luffy to finally evolve his skillset to win.
I’ve said it in other vids and I’ll say it again. You will never see Luffy with a face of pure anger like that ever again. The one and only time he had the look like he was genuinely gonna murder Lucci 8:23
this was the first fight since beginning of anime where Luffy was pushed to absolute limit, he was coughing blood, way beyond the point where he should be standing, but he still stood, and fought with pure willpower, rage, and desperation for Robin. The end was just epic
Wait till he face Akainu before saying that 😅 Luffy looked just as pissed of even earlier than that when he punched the colors out of that Tenryubito 😂 trust me Luffy still got more rage coming , especially with his new gear now
@@togucvinw7 no luffy would not act out of revenge, sure he probably has a grudge against akinu for killing ace but he moved past that, that's what the 2 years of training were for, also jinbe made him realize he hasn't lost everything he's got his nakama to fight for. He'll defeat Akainu but not ouf of hate or revenge
Good old Luffy vs Lucci. One of the rare instance where luffy genuinely got pushed to to the absolute limit. I dont count katakuri since he got handicapped.
luffy vs katakuri was similar to this but the problem is WCI luffy has armament haki and G4 which to me aren't as cool as gear 2 + luffy took more raw damage in this one than in WCI against katakuri, think about it... armament haki gave luffy a damage reduction bonus so when luffy got hit it wasn't a big of a deal but in enies lobby luffy took Rokuogan which is an armor-piercing type attack that targets your insides, way more impactful imo
im up to date with one piece and the shivers & emotions ive felt when i first watched this has yet to be topped🔥 also my favorite Usopp scene by far, it may be less impressive than the sugar scene but it was an incredible character moment
Rob Lucci was the first enemy to be outright better than Luffy stat was in every way other than determination, he was physically on par with Luffy and he endured as many attacks as Luffy, attacks he *felt* just like Luffy, until Kat Luffy hadn't really faced another enemy like that, and even then comparatively Kat took notably fewer hits than Lucci
That bird is the true evil of this arc. Never says anything, looks at the Galley-La mansion burning with empty eyes and just sits on what it believe to be it's owner's corpse at the time after he loses to a pirate. That pigeon will be the death of us all.
There won't be another battle like this in anime history. Small merry pirate crew, goofiest teen captain with clumsy charming weak crew members putting their lives on line against world government only to hear out true feelings from Robin. Classic unique creative power up with risk, Luffy literally just standing up again and again after taking attacks that would have killed him multiple times. M.C always wins important battles by plot, but an overwhelming villain removed plot armor throughout very long fight. No flashy exaggerated super powers auras, just martial arts from leopard man and rubber boy. This was accidentally created best fight from the greatest shounen genius writer of all time.

That scene is why Enies Lobby is the best arc in all of One Piece.
Agree ❤❤❤❤
Not really.
personally its robin crying for help and them burning the flag, but this is a banger too
enies lobby is just part of the whole water 7 arc

This scene is one of the many reasons why OP will go down as the greatest anime in history. There’s just nothing quite like it.
