More than a thousand chapters and for me it is still the most dramatic Luffy fight. In no other have I felt that it has had to be pushed to the limit as in this one.

After all this time, even when Luffy vs Kaido already exist, Luffy vs Lucci is still the most thrilling fight in One Piece anime and manga for me.. Because this fight is where Luffy really and i mean REALLY did everything to win even reaching his limit..
Against Kaido Luffy litterally died and came back from that to defeat him. And he had to surpass his current limits not once, not twice but thrice. I'm pretty sure that is at least the same level of overcoming overwhelmingly bad odds as his fight vs. Lucci.
This is the one fight that still gets me. They gave Luffy so much anger in this. When he got back up for the final attack that’s legit the one and only time you see him so pissed. You don’t see that anymore

Really hoped finisher against kaido is multi-hit finishing strike like jet gatling gun but instead we got the same luffy vs doffy one hit K.O like in anime version where the clashing happened midway (In manga, king kong gun just piercing through doffy's god thread without any clashing).
Actually it was never implied Lucci knew Haki back then. He nearly killed Luffy using only martial arts. If he did have Haki, Luffy wouldn’t have been able to win.
this is not haki, these are rukoshiki techniques. Watch the arc again, had this been haki, luffy and his crew would've been fucked. Haki was also introduced in skypia where they call obs. haki 'mantra'. However, zoro was the first strawhat to use haki when he fought Mr.1 in alabasta. Zoro used both armament haki and obs. haki in that fight.
