Lyrics : I've met some folks who say that I'm a dreamer, And I've no doubt there's truth in what they say, But sure a body's bound to be a dreamer, When all the things he loves are far away. And precious things are dreams unto an exile. They take him o'er the land across the sea Especially when it happens he's an exile, From that dear lovely Isle of Inisfree. And when the moonlight peeps across the rooftops, Of this great city, wondrous though it be, I scarcely feel its wonder or its laughter... I'm once again back home in Inisfree. I wander o'er green hills through dreamy valleys, And find a peace no other land would know. I hear the birds make music fit for angels, And watch the rivers laughing as they flow. And then into a humble shack I wander My dear old home and tenderly behold, The folks I love around the turf fire, gathered. On bended knees, their rosary is told. But dreams don't last Though dreams are not forgotten And soon I'm back to stern reality. But though they pave the footways here with gold dust, I still would choose my Isle of Inisfree.

@LDSandlovingit at different times yes, there were actually 9 different women, five in the first concert, and one woman who was a temperary fill in for meav during the tour, then there was Hayley Westenra, who joined as a guest during their new journey tour. after that, Alex and Lynn came permanently to replace Meav and Orla. so there were eight, well nine but Dirdra, the fill in, but i don't concider her an official celtic woman and i'm glad that you descovered them, they make my life wonderful

A matchless song with words and music by an Irish police officer and sung by Maureen O Hara in The Quiet Man. Orla is also Irish and beautiful with a lovely voice. This song makes my eyes misty.

are these ladies fairies? Angels? Oh my gosh, they're amazing. every single song I listen to i'm repeatedly blown away...I'm gonna get whiplash I swear.
My mother sang this years ago so I played it for her and as she began to sing it brought tears to my eyes..... My mum is 80 now and still has an amazingly beautiful voice.
My mum told me how she loved this song from a young girl. I had it played at her funeral back in 2019 and I cry every time I hear it so give your mam a big hug and tell her how much she means to you
Reminds me of the home where I was born. In Northern Scotland. A little village at least then. Durness. It's a small piece of heaven. Not a day goes by that I don't miss it.
I've been away from Scotland for better than 300 years, yet every time I hear the music, my heart goes back again. You can take the blood out of Scotland, but not the Scotland out of the blood.

I recognized this as part of the soundtrack to John Wayne's "The Quiet Man" but I've never heard it sung and played as beautifully as this. THIS is an IMPECCABLE arrangement and I thank you for posting it.
The first time I heard this melody was when Maureen O'Hara performed it in The Quiet Man. I was so happy to see this performance! Thanks for the post........
This made me cry. Makes me think of my hunting camp in the Catskill mountains of NY, where some of my most fond memories have been made with a group of the most precious older gentlemen I know. It's still my most favorite place on earth: a little shack with an old wood stove, and a table where we gather in the evenings and tell stories. The second half of this song really expresses my feelings.
When I die, I shall have No funeral, and not one shall shed a tear, but please spread my ashes on the west coast of BC, my home, My isle of Inisfree....
According to Wikipedia it is the main theme for the movie "The Quiet Man". It was written by a policeman. Every time I watch the movie, and this tune is played, I am moved to tears.
The two most incredibly beautiful songs I've ever heard (and I came across both on RUclips) are this one, and GOIN' HOME by Sissel. Both of them make me feel unafraid of dying. I want them both played at my memorial service when I die.
I’m with you, Devin. Family history says I’m Scot/Irish. The folks at 23 & Me say I’m all that plus a bunch of other Northern European stock. And if my wife’s observations are accurate, I’ve got some Neanderthal in me, as well. So like most Americans, I’m a mutt. That said, this music is beautiful. It soothes that Neanderthal in me and plucks at my Celtic heart strings.
I downloaded this video and saved it in my cell phone. I play it every night before falling asleep. so warm and so peaceful just like a song from heaven. the greatest lullaby ever. thank you, Orla.
All of the current and former members of Celtic Woman are lovely, and they all sing like angels, but there is something (beyond her harp and her alto range) special about Orla. This lady simply radiates class. Fortunately, she still records and tours, so we haven't lost her. Look up the "My Land" CD.
Orla Fallon, Divine voice and gorgeous lady, this song was sung in the film the quiet man, this lady also sings Carrickfergus from Riverdance, Orla just dose it better performed with the beautiful sound of the harp, outstanding. x
What a woman ... When I first saw this video, and hearing the words flowing smoothly out of her orifice, I thought I'd died and heard an angel singing.
"But dreams don't last, though dreams are not forgotten, And soon I'm back to stern reality, Although they pave the foot ways here with gold dust I still would choose my Isle of Inishfree." Very beautiful--still like old Bing's version.
This song is SOOO Irish. The funny thing is when I heard Celtic Woman singing it in concert a few years back, I could remember my grandmother singing it...she died five years before it was written. I have often wondered what song she used to sing.

I'm kind of a progressive metal guy myself, but my God, what a perfect voice she has. She may be the best of all the Celtic Women.
I love her and Maev
Kem Hayes one of my all-time favorites

Beautiful. Would luv to see her more with the CW group. Wish she was at the 20th anniversary with the others too. Missed her.
Orla's rendition of this lovely song is beautifully played and sang. Her voice is as heavenly as her harp-playing.
She has the perfect voice for a lullaby. I would love to lay as she sings me to sleep. Enchanting.

Oh so lovely. I remember watching this year's ago on public television. So calming. This is one of the best. Ora Fallon is delightful.

Saw a John Wayne movie last night called "The Quiet Man". Filmed on location in Ireland back in 1952. This tune played in the background many times.
I fell in love with Maureen watching the same movie, can still see her after all these years. The same goes for this beautiful music .
This is one of our favorite John Wayne films! He and Maureen O'Hara were a perfect onscreen couple. The two of them remind me of my parents! Lol
unwanted angel just now watching the same movie.threw a craving on me to hear this.
Simplly, angelic. her version is the best in my opinion.
