The quiet man is the BEST movie ever made. Great story, characters, scenery. I even went to Cong Ireland where it was made. Beautiful area.

We played this at my papas funeral. I lost him 3 weeks ago. The pain is unreal 💔 I miss him so much.

My dad was taken to see the Quite man In 1952 in the cinema by my gran and grandad as a 9year boy from Motherwell he said dad I’d love to see Innisfree, my grandad who was born in county Sligo in Ireland said would you son. 2 weeks later my dad was in that part of Ireland So when my dad would play this song he would get emotional I know why now . 🍀❤️🙏🏼

Being a radio presenter I have heard this song being sung by many an artist,
but none of them can sing this lovely Irish song with such passion and grace,It could listen to Charlie singing this song over and over, absolutely beautiful.....Amazing.....

As an Irish person, it’s hard to emulate an Irish song, but Charlie has certainly done it justice, have had the pleasure of seeing him live a few years before he retired.

Charlie is one of those great singers who bring so much emotion to one of Ireland's greatest songs. The Irish remind me of my community the Italian's. Both nations sing with so much love for their beloved homelands. Us Italian's love the Irish they're very much like us. That's way so many Italian's have married into Irish families. We have a lot in common! No one sings this song like Charlie and some great singers have sung it over the years. I personally prefer Charlie's emotional version it makes you cry, thinking of all those people who left there beloved homeland never to return! Great song sung by a great artist!!

@@kellymhenry376 Except it's not a pub song really. It's a song about immigration, of an immigrants longing for home. Written on a bus journey in Ireland by Dick Farrelly in the late 1940s.
It was used by John Ford in his famous film The Quiet Man in 1952.
Funny thing though at the time he wrote the song, Dick was a serving member of the Gardaí ( the irish police force ) and had never left Ireland.
Simply a voice of an angel be you a rocker or a heavy metal fan this must touch your sole if it does not you aint on this plannet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
