Just returned from Ellis Island, such an emotional island to visit. You sense all the emotions that immigrants from all over the world must have gone through passing through Ellis Island. A must visit!
Thank you Celtic Women for keeping the emotion so real.
This song is special to me… having some Irish heritage … I’ve always found comfort in listening to Irish and Celtic music 🫶🇨🇦
Without a doubt after listening to this song how can anyone dispute the sound of the music, the beautiful singers and the nostalgic heritage of Ireland. Long live Celtic Woman and long live Ireland.
love from bali island
They are ugly.
Perfect!!! Enjoying from Brazil
Fantastic!
On the first day of January 1892
They opened Ellis Island and they let the people through
And the first to cross the threshold of that isle of hope and tears
Was Annie Moore from Ireland who was all of 15 years
Isle of hope, isle of tears
Isle of freedom, isle of fears
But it’s not the isle you left behind
That isle of hunger, isle of pain
Isle you’ll never see again
But the isle of home is always on your mind
In a little bag, she carried all her past and history
And her dreams for the future in the land of liberty
And courage is the passport when your old world disappears
But there’s no future in the past when you’re 15 years
Isle of hope, isle of tears
Isle of freedom, isle of fears
But it’s not the isle you left behind
That isle of hunger, isle of pain
Isle you’ll never see again
But the isle of home is always on your mind
When they closed down Ellis Island in 1943
17 million people had come there for sanctuary
And in springtime when I came here and I stepped onto its piers
I thought of how it must have been when you’re 15 years
Isle of hope, isle of tears
Isle of freedom, isle of fears
But it’s not the isle you left behind
That isle of hunger, isle of pain
Isle you’ll never see again
But the isle of home is always on your mind
But the isle of home is always on your mind
Anyone cutting onions? This music is STUNNING and talks right into your soul
OH MY GOD....THAT IRISH MUSIC...WOULD BREAK A HEART OF STONE...SO SO BEAUTIFUL...THANKYOU CELTIC WOMEN.
in the middle of pandemic that almost hit a year, at the same time, waiting for Christmas, this song really broke every doubt. There is a hope, and it always on our mind. Let Jesus lead our day, lead our life, it doesnt matter how crazy our life is, as long as our hope is on our mind, it will ok.
To anyone who left his country to seek for a better future abroad...this song brings tears into my eyes every time.
Greetings from Canada
That's me Christopher, I had to leave Belfast when I was 21 because of the horrible civil war 😭 left all my family behind 😭 I've been living in Australia for nearly 40 years, I've been home quite a few times 🙏 and planing a trip ( God spares me ) may 2023 ☘
@@maggiequinn8087 I hope you are able to take that trip back to Belfast, take good care of yourself !
@@christophepilaire7868 Thanks heaps Christophe for your lovely msg, you take good care of yourself too 🙏☘
Every time i see this clip I am in tears..... The Republic of Ireland is for me THE BEST , We have visited every year at least 3 time a year since 2007 and loved every minute there and feel homesick when we are not there, the cliffs of Moher or the ring of kerry, soooo many beautiful places.
Im not from ireland but the song tells me a story... and i cried... i really love this song since 2022 and im still listening and singing -❤ Sept. 26,2024
One of my favorite Celtic Woman performances. I really feel the hope and exitement of Annie Moore. I keep coming back to hear this song.
This has got to be the best combination of Celtic Woman ever.. Fantastic harmonies, I'm sure that's what heaven (if there is one) sounds like.
There has to be a HUGE shout out to whoever did the musical arrangement, it was absolutely stunning, & what about those backing singers.
They added so much to the listening pleasure of the song. Such an atmosphere around the arrangement.. I'm sure these ladies could sing the phone book & make it sound like heaven.
Interestingly both Chole and Lisa now call America home having now permanently retired from Celtic Women!
This version will always brings tears to my eyes. THE BEST VERSION EVER!!!!!! Thank you Ladies for this. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
HAVING ONLY FOUND CELTIC WOMAN IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS - I CAN HONESTLY SAY I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO TOUCHED BY THIS WONDEFUL MUSIC, EVERY SONG OF THEIRS MELTS MY HEART-SUBLIME !
I am Colombian by birth, but I feel so nostalgic and attached to this music that it is as if it were transporting me.
I am Celtic and it strikes to my soul. We are accepting people. Welcome Columbia.
I always feel like old celtic and Irish music have something so healing, it just makes the soul feel at home and at peace✨
This is my favourite combination of Celtic woman. Lovely voices and lovely ladies.
It reminds me of my classmates and I who left our hometown in 1969 to pursue our lives and future in KL, Singapore, Australia, US. We still gather together
The new ABBA of 21st century, and even much better.
Don't you just love those voices and faces.
Mein absolutes Lieblings Lied.Koennte ich den ganzen Tag hören.Ich liebe das Lied und euch.❤
First time I have heard this version.... Lost for words.... Unreal...
Wow these girls are angels. Their voices are out of this world.
Nothing unites me more to USA, Canada, NZ, even South Africa, than this song. My 8 great grandparents, Daniel, Catherine, Joseph, Brigid, Michael, Bridget, Timothy and Catherine brought us here from the other side of the world, emigrate or die. Did anyone tell those early 19th century Irish mother that there were names for their daughters beyond Catherine or Brigid ? Even Mary didn't get a run until the next generation.
I wish their music could heal the world and bring us peace forever. No more war, no more hunger or thirst, no more disease, no more suffering and no more greed. Yes ... I guess their music takes me away from reality.
Someday~
Right on! When we believe, somehow we will!
Johnny P my sentiments exactly heavenly voices
You are a good person.
Johnny P yes johnny you are right in all you say... but when their voices and music flows over you , all the troubles of the world evaporate for a little while......how wonderful they are , long may they brighten our lives........
2024 anyone

Beautifully sung, can anyone explain to me how singer's can sing such a moving song without chocking up ? I would not get past the first line !
Practice. Lol. Your breathing and the audience.
Probably the most emotional piece of music I have ever heard. If only our world could be at piece and all the suffering could come to an end. I cry every time I hear it.. oh, such a touching melody and lyrics
I could play this song over and over again. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it
I do play it often, going to try to add it to my Spotify playlists if I can!
I do just that

How did I missed this mesmerizing song? I was reading a novel where the protagonist sings this song and the audience were all teary. so I came to YT to listen how much heart-touching is it. Well, I'm impressed. I really love this song now.
Excuse me for my ENGLISH , i ´ am a FRENCH. , but i. Can say. I have not hear the very so beautifull
Woman and. So. Beautifull. songs. I ´ ist. more kinds everything Woman !
Sooo beautiful ! The music, the words, the four ladies (we miss them) and the orchestra. It was at Slane Castle, unforgettable !
😅🎉
I live in South Africa but from Ireland I love you ladies your music makes me what to cry how I miss my beautiful country
Beautiful beautiful girls. Yes they put you in to another world. A once peaceful Ireland (if there ever was one).
I have been in love Celtic woman since I first heard them sing: my dreams were fulfilled when I saw them in concert in Melbourne Australia. I will never forget that concert. Thank you. All members of Celtic woman are beautiful & great singers
Apparently Annie Moore married another immigrant and had a few children. They remained poor. She never returned to her homeland and died around her mid 40's. (looked it up when I first saw Celtic Woman singing it a few years ago, so can't remember specifics and too lazy to check now!!) Very hard life. I wish she could hear this beautiful tribute to the brave child she was and the life she left behind.😥
she may not ever hear the song but she has a legacy of people who get to listen to the song knowing that this song is about their Cork ancestor, it is also a song about our Irish history and despite the hardships that we as a nation were dealt, we had some strong, independent and courageous people.
This is moving me to tears! The ladies gorgeous voices and the lyrics and that melody!
Annie may not hear it, but she will always be in her Great Grandchildren and their children's memory
It was no utopia or paradise that's for sure, it promised a lot, but didn't deliver in most of the cases, the second, third , fourth generations benefitted progressively, not the immigrants or the first generations...most of the 20 century immigrants would have been happier in Ireland...
@@sherp2u1I would disagree, My grandparent came to New Zealand from Ireland in the 40's and had a great life here!🇳🇿🇮🇪
If this song doesn't get your heart to tighten and your eyes to get very wet, well I'll say no more, but it affects me so much.love to you Celtic angels.❤❤❤
Nous avons écouté cette merveilleuse chanson ce matin en anglais, elle est tout simplement magnifique et aérienne... Elle donne des frissons... À la fin de la vidéo,toute la classe chantait !!! ✨✨🌎🌎🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽
What beautiful, talented women. May they always be cherished .🌹🌹🌹
I cried.. oh, such a touching melody and lyrics.
James H. River these people they are singing about were made of sterner stuff and extremely brave total respect for them

I love playing this song. NO other group can come close to Celtic Woman. I love the way they do this song. Just like they are tugging at my heart strings
"isle Of Hope, Isle Of Tears, Isle Of Freedom, Isle Of Fears,
But It's Not The Isle You Left Behind. That Isle Of Hunger, Isle Of Pain,
Isle You'll Never See Again But The Isle Of Home Is Always On Your Mind."
still brings a tear to my after years of listening to this..as most of their songs do..
Celtic Woman, your rendition of this song is by far the greatest. Isle of hope; Isle of tears. Such an insightful look into the lives of every Irish immigrant coming to America.
try tommy flemming's verion
I feel like many immigrants to and from any of country can really feel this song :)
So I was right about the meaning of this song! And the island of hope and tears is Ireland?
It can mean Ireland, but it can also mean Ellis Island in New York.
These ladies are world class, brilliant
they are indeed, there's no doubt whatsoever about that!
🌹💚

I am from India and not Irish, but Irish music speaks to my soul, I feel.. patriotic after listening to Irish songs. Be it Isle of Hope, Paddy's Green shamrock shore, song for ireland or any other song. I don't know why, Guess it is because we share a similar culture. Ireland was Britain's first colony, followed by India. So we know exactly how they felt. Heck even our flag is similar
Not to mention my love for beer.
This video looks so surreal. The castle, the purple sky, maidens, fire. I wish I could be there!
Hoping to come to Ireland some day.. One of my big dreams
I'm not Irish but also love their culture. Have you come across this lovely song ? ruclips.net/video/oRdDnpkR3AQ/видео.html

Another Indian here, Irish music lover.
I'm a Filipino, but Irish music, especially folk, somehow hits me in the right spot that makes me wanna dance. And I hate dancing.
Defo give Galway a visit when you’re here pal!
This song Is So Emotional For Me Because I Love These Ladies So Much.
Beautiful ladies and beautiful voice's.😍
this song was written about one of my relatives, Annie Moore, she was the first immigrant from Cork to Ellis Island New York, I have only just found this information out after having our family tree researched, I can't stop playing this song.
philomena mcmillan she's one of my relatives too....I'm descended from her paternal uncle.
philomena mcmillan your ancestors were very brave and gusty people you must.be so very proud of them
paintedpilgrim b
philomena mcmillan that's amazing
She was indeed very brave, a seventeen-year-old girl travelling across the Atlantic while responsible for her two, much younger siblings. And she just wasn't the first immigrant from Cork to go through Ellis Island, ,SHE WAS THE FIRST IMMIGRANT to go through it. When you have admired the wonderful statue of Annie in Ellis Island, come to Cóbh, Co Cork where there is another, but different statue of Annie with her siblings by the same artist
Amazing, inspiring.. And there's no more words to describe this
+Kirill P I'm sure there are a lot more....
Incredible voices and a lovely song
Such a heartfelt rendition of this song.
Beautiful song , Beautiful Singers and beautiful ladies. Huge fan From County Galway
Lovely, I am hearing it in 2019. Love them with angelic voice
I'm in 2019
I’m speechless 😶
You put me in a different world: one with no worries and no problems. Thank you Xxx
I’m not Irish, but I am Scottish and I often think that our cultures are very similar, especially when it comes to music. But I do think this song surpasses any other Scottish or Irish song ever written, simply because of the raw emotion put across in the lyrics
Kathy Swales hy katy..you are very beauty i love u..can you marry with me..
Ok Kathy Swales - we'll let the Scots borrow that one if we can borrow "The Parting Glass".
@Jack And now she is British! Loyal to her Queen and Country! Ireland will be part of the United Kingdom once more!
Such a beautiful and inspiring song with a special tribute. I feels so emotional and very moving so that's a big inspiration. Much respects from New Zealand to Ireland!!
Ain't it incredible the various singers into that group enhances it every time.

There just are not the words to put into perspective of how exquisite these beautiful young ladies can make you or at least me feel, their voices are exceptional and work so well together. What a gift!
My grandfather and six of his siblings passed that island 100-110 years ago.
