I am thinking that the reason Police centered on Grandma is because her story was too flimsy to hold up to scrutiny. I am guessing that she did not even go through the formality of waiting at Eva with the children in the car because it was ultimately wasted effort. Also perhaps, it was the Twombleys who made the actual intercept and homicide and who transported the bodies. With as much blood as was left at the scene, blood would have been taken with the couple no matter what they do and how many CSI episodes they have watched. Not to mention tire and shoe tracks left at the scene and perhaps even soil on their vehicles. No matter how smart you think you are, the police are always smarter.
