Hazbin Hotel Series Description:
Hazbin Hotel is an American adult animated musical comedy streaming television series created by Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano. The series revolves around Charlie Morningstar, crown princess of Hell, on her quest to find a way for sinners to be "rehabilitated" and allowed into Heaven, via her "Hazbin Hotel", as an alternative to Heaven's annual "Extermination" of wayward souls due to Hell's overpopulation. The series is produced by independent entertainment company A24 and animation studio Bento Box Entertainment, in collaboration with Amazon Studios.
The pilot, released on RUclips on October 28, 2019, was made entirely by freelance animators and was largely financed by Medrano's Patreon followers. The first season premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 18, 2024, with its first episode also released on RUclips on that same day for a limited release. A second season is confirmed to be in production. It has received generally positive reviews from critics.
The popularity and success of the pilot allowed Medrano to create a spin-off series called Helluva Boss, which premiered on October 31, 2020. The series features a different cast of characters within the same in-universe setting.
On January 26, 2024, it was revealed that Hazbin Hotel is the largest global debut for a new animated series on Prime Video.

I watched the pilot after I finished the show… it didn’t change my experience at all and I didn’t feel like I missed anything.
I watched the Pilot after episode 4, and I really didn't feel like I missed much either. The show does a good enough job of explaining what happened in the Pilot, and the Pilot isn't really the greatest in my opinion compared to how peak the show is.

As someone who watched the pilot long before the show released I don't see why so many people view it as necessary to watch it before the actual show. It doesn't change the viewing experience at all besides making you a bit more familiar with the main cast. The pilot is great but its not something to be freaking out over if someone doesn't watch it before starting the show.
That moment you realize that Lucifer sent his daughter to the meeting instead of going himself was probably because he didn't want to deal with his wife's ex.

Lilith is a character from Jewish folklore and several versions of the Bible, being the first woman and Adam’s first wife, she was made to be equal to Adam being made from dust also but Adam wanted her to be submissive towards him so she left, so Adam asked for a new wife so God took one of his ribs and turned into Eve. After Lilith left the garden she found Lucifer and became the mother of demons
She was also from Sanskrit Mythology originally and was a blood drinking goddess called Lilitu who was Kali`s sister and served a similar maternal role for other deities. In Mesopotamian mythology, demons in general were called lilus in reference to being the children of Lilith/Lilitu.

Lilith was the first woman on Earth, and was Adam's first bride. Lilith had enough with Adam's controlling behavior, so she ran away from the garden. That's when Lucifer found Lilith, and they both fell in love with each other, because Lucifer wasn't like Adam, Lucifer wasn't a control freak. So eventually Adam finds a new bride named "Eve", and both Lilith and Lucifer wanted humanity to have free will in Earth, so they found Eve near the Tree of Wisdom. Lucifer and Lilith offered Eve the apple of free will, so humanity can experience free will, and Eve gladly accepted the offer. So Lucifer didn't cheat on Lilith, Eve wasn't the "side chick" of Lucifer. Both Lilith and Lucifer offered Eve the apple.

I love how in the start of "Stayed Gone", Vox says "I'm gonna make you wish that you'd stayed gone" only for Alastor to end it with "I'm gonna make you wish that I'd stayed gone." Talk about an uno reverse card.
I love all the HH songs, but “Loser, Baby” is now my personal anthem, it’s one of the most backwards but surprisingly effective feel good motivational songs out there.
The best part is how they actually cast musical actors who were on Broadway or who have at least some singing experience. Erika Henningsen (Mean Girls the Musical), Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto), Keith David (The Princess and the Frog), Christian Borle (Legally Blonde the Musical), Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice the Musical) and Jeremy Jordan (Tangled the Series), to name a few. It makes the theater kid in me so happy.

For them to have a permanent death, they would have to killed by an angelic weapon that is wielded by the exterminators😅.

I really hope by "episode that dropped on RUclips" you mean the pilot. That's actually an important part of the story. I'm glad you're getting into this though, the story and characters are great, (especially Angel Dust,) and the songs are absolute bangers. For this batch, "Stayed Gone" is my favorite. I love how Alastor comes in and completely obliterates Vox and turs the song around on him.

Some background: Vivienne Medrano created a lot of the characters during her time in high school and art school. She worked on several other projects, such as her webcomic Zoophobia. In 2017, she and a group of freelance animators begun working on the pilot with the help of her patreon followers. In October 28, 2019, the pilot was released on RUclips and was a massive success. So much so that while her team waited for a network to pick up the show, she created a spin off internet show with Brandon Rodgers called Helluva Boss a month after the pilot was released and eventually founded an animation company called SpindleHorse Toons. The fandom created lots of fan art, animations, comics, cosplays, and songs, even some before the pilot was released. In August 2020, A24 picked up the show for production. Most of the characters went through redesigns and were recasted for a more musical inclined cast. About 4 years after the release of the pilot, Hazbin Hotel was finally released on Amazon Prime on January 19, 2024 and season 2 is in production
A thing that I noticed about Adam is that his favorite food is ribs... Eve was created from God pulling out one of Adam's ribs.
Im pretty sure god is canonical in this show, but he just hangs out in the top layers of heaven, not doing anything and just letting things play out, biding his time.

I was lucky enough to see Alex Brightman (voice of Adam and Sir Pentious) in Broadway twice, once as Beetlejuice and also as Dichard Dreyfus in The Shark is Broken. He really is very entertaining and talented!

Viv’s youtube series Helluva Boss is tied to the same universe as Hazbin Hotel, and Richard Horvits actually voices Moxxie (one of the main cast). Pentious and Adam are voiced by Alex Brightman, who also stars in Helluva Boss as Fizzarolli. If you haven’t watched Helluva Boss, I’d check it out!

Favorite songs are "You Didn't Know" and "Ready for This" because I'm a sucker for big Broadway ensemble numbers. There are a LOT of really talented voices on this show, from film to TV to Broadway performers, and the same is true of Helluva Boss, which is a youtube exclusive series by the same creators set in the same universe but focused on different characters and a much smaller stakes story. Its also musical, though songs are less frequent because of the lower budget, but I love it and it's definitely worth a watch.

Im so excited to see you watch this show! im apart of a large group of ppl who've been waiting YEARS for this show. I would however suggest watching the pilot which is the one that's on youtube. It can be helpfull in getting a bit of background on the story. My fav song is in episode 6 called "more than anything".

It just me, in ep 2 Charlie (probably unintentionally) totally calls out Angel, the scene is about saying no to sex and drugs. That’s not Sir Pentious’ problems, that’s what angel is addicted to. Their roles should have been reversed. And you can see Angel is clearly upset about his role.

"People die every day!" It's different in hell. Yes, people can die in hell. The difference is when you're in hell you're already dead and separated from your life on earth. You can die in hell, but then you regenerate shortly after and you're alive again and you can go through that process endlessly and nothing can permanently kill you. Well, almost nothing. The problem in the show is that there is one thing that can kill you and keep you dead and gone forever even from hell, and that is the exterminator angels. That's what everybody's problem is and that's why they're all so worried.
From what I heard, Keith David wanted to be part of the show because he was open to more projects that would let him sing.

Yeah there's a lot packed into just 8 episodes, it can be hard to follow the first time around, so you might wanna give it a quick rewatch, but man they really nailed it.
The songs are so catchy! My favourites are More Than Anything and Hell's greatest Dad from episode 5, and the finale song in episode 8.

Side note: you should know that in this universe, as of yet, there isn't really a God. creation came from the Angels themselves and there are different ranks. There seems to be hints at /god/ but nothing mentioned by name.
Demons and angels that were once human souls, take the form of something that was significant to them in either life or how they died. Sometimes even something they hate or were afraid of.
Also Nifty is an adult, she's just tiny. :)

Alastor was a radio star so his hell form is based around 30s radio, Vox was a television star so his form is based on television, etc.

So mello knows, the man behind hazbin hotel created all the music and the animation. He currently still works on the series as it's out on prime i thjnk it was but yes he makes the music and the animations. 😊
