From someone who finished the series let me tell you that we still don't know the limits of Alastor's powers and he is still insanely powerful. You learn where he is in the hierarchy in episode 3 but for the sake of the explanation Alastor is an overlord. Overlords are sinners who have gained an extreme amount of power due to the souls that they have collected through various means. Alastor got the souls he owns from making deals with other sinners. The hierarchy goes as such. Lucifer Charlie & Lilith The Seven Deadly Sins Ars Goetia Overlords Sinners The Hellborn Imps & Hellhounds Imps and hellhounds are hellborn but they are the species everybody is racist towards. Hazbin Hotel has a spinoff series called Helluva Boss on RUclips which has 2 seasons and you learn a lot more about the hierarchy there with basically everything there except for the first two (Sinners don't play a massive role in Helluva Boss but they are there). I highly recommend Helluva Boss it is on the RUclips channel Vivziepop who is also the creator of Hazbin Hotel.
Just to clarify there are some characters who overlap like there are imp and other species hybrids. You have Asmodeus who is an Ars Goetia but is also a Seven Deadly Sin being the Sin of Lust and then you have Lucifer who goes at the top tier for being the king of hell but Lucifer is also a member of the Seven Deadly Sins being the Sin of Pride. In all of these cases their place in the hierarchy depends which role is higher.

Think of it this way, Angel got told he doesn't count and then in the morality play he (a sex worker with drug addiction issues in an abusive situation) was told to play the role of an evil predatory drug dealer with an added "jab" at the end about abstinence being rightous. He probably felt like they were showing him exactly how badly they thought of him. I wouldn't be shocked if he threw those lines back in their face some time in season 2.
The origin of Lilith came from a Typo in the story of Genesis where they tell the story of the creation of humanity twice over. First one says "God created Man and Woman" and the second one says "God Created Eve out of Adam's Side" (Not specifically his rib, that was a later mistranslation). These were originally meant to be to be the same story but without context later readers thought that this meant Adam had a bride before Eve but it didn't work out. There is a bit of esoterica where it mentions creatures in the desert outside of Eden and names one as Lilith so people latched on to her being the name of Adam's first wife. In actuality based on the description as a Nocturnal creature who dwells in the trees Lilith might have meant an Owl.

Despite being equals, Adam didn’t see it that way, he wanted control, in general as well as sexually. Lilith refused to serve him, which led to her being cast out of the Garden. The only changes they made to the story was Lilith leaving the garden of her own free will, and Lilith and Lucifer falling in love. Other than that, the story is pretty spot on. Eve came after Lilith fled the garden, and she was made from one of Adam’s ribs. (I think it’s funny Adam is seen eating spare ribs when he fist meets Charlie, it’s kinda ironic)

The piolet isn't really important anymore since you watched both 1 and 2, so you i think can skim over it one day or something. it's just to introduce the characters n stuff but they kind of do that through the show. I feel like you'll love the entire show though. It was written so well.
