Not sure if you're active in comments anymore but... reason I typed up Alex drawers + Gerton table top is because I wanted to see if you would have leg room with this desk with the drawers on each side...... Now I have my answer thanks to your video. Such a silly question but would it not have been more spacious to put drawers to the edges of the desk giving you more leg room? I guess it looks better with the floating desk aspect. Never mind I've answered my own question lol. But thanks for the video!
I have the same desk as you (and a similar setup), just wanna ask what wood finish you used. I used an oil based finished and it doesn't achieve the look I want.
How exactly did you finish the tabletop. I know you used danish oil, but what procedures did you do to exactly finish it. I bought one and I am trying to finish it.
Let me know if you find a good finish! I’ll probably sand mine down and refinish it but not sure what to use. Was thinking maybe a water-based polyurethane
Yeah it's a bit of work but definitely worth it. I used watco danish oil and it's been a while since I finished it so I can't for sure but I think it was the natural finish. They've got lots of different finishes so you pick one that fits your setup.
I just used some rags and danish oil and put on a few coats, making sure to get rid of any excess oil at the end so it doesn't feel sticky. I forget the exact one I used but they have Danish oil in lots of different finishes so you can choose the best for your setup.
so you decide to make a desk setup video, but then say you have ordered multiple upgrades and additions to the setup. why not wait to film until the upgrades have arrived. makes no sense to me.......
That's true and I considered it but I haven't had much extra time lately to put into youtube so I want to post videos whenever I get the chance. If they were important upgrades, though, I definitely would've waited but it was only two small upgrades so the setup as a whole would stay pretty much the same (also the graphics card came while I was recording so it really was only the keyboard in the end).

Which music is this sir? I know it's from epidemic, but their library is huge! Many thanks!
The tabletop is screwed into the drawers or it works only with "gravity"?
Just gravity but there's so much heavy stuff on the table that it would take a lot to actually move it
What product did you use to finish the gerton table top? Thinking of doing one myself.
Let me know if you find a good finish! I’ll probably sand mine down and refinish it but not sure what to use. Was thinking maybe a water-based polyurethane
I finished mine with dark jacobean oak Danish oil then a top coat of natural finish Danish oil. Worked great and looks very nice. Hope that helps.
