Let's not forget Marron, who was drawn as a 2 year old toddler for years despite nearly being 10 in Super.
Krillin was tiny until he was like 20 years old when he was just very short. Super is stupid and decided to shrink him again but he was still quite short at the end of Z.

I love seeing Gohan's physical development from the start of Z to the end of the Cell saga.
It's so gradual you almost don't notice, but by the end the difference is undeniable.

In OG DBZ Goten and Kid Trunks introduction into the manga/anime really didn't have them age as much bc time skipped 7 years in between the Cell and Buu saga and the Buu saga itself only lasts about a day, even with the movies after the events of the Buu saga only 1-3 years pass, so kinda makes sense we don't see them grow much they're only 7-10 whereas with Gohan we watched him go from barely more than a toddler (4 at the start) to an elementary student (6-8 during Namek) a preteen (11-12 during Cell Saga) and then to a teenager/young adult (18 during Buu Saga) throughout the series

My headcannon is Bulma made a wish to look younger. Goten and Trunks made fun of her and Bulma made the second wish to make them appear younger for longer as revenge.

@@berylbell8452Idk what people expected there..its laid out at the end of Z that like Gohan, Goten and Trunks lost their interest in fighting as they grew up. That battle lust is a full blood saiyan thing.
The big issue is how consistently Gohan grew throughout Z. From toddler against Raditz to pre-teen against Cell, you almost don't even notice him growing because it's so gradual and natural.
That's debatable since Gohan hit a growth spurt in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

heights aren't only inconsistent in the anime, they're rly inconsistent in the manga, esp in the buu arc (mainly w/ mr. satan) bc toriyama likes to alter characters' sizes often in comedic scenes. but for mr. satan it's like he literally just shrinks between the cell and buu arcs to make him look goofier
Mr. Satan is an older dude. It's reasonable to think he became more stout at a certain age. It's only a real problem when child characters shrink/don't age.

Let’s not forget that one of the requirements of the Fusion Dance, as I recall, isn’t just power level, but similar physical size, including height. Now, even though Vegita was originally shown to be significantly shorter than Goku, they are _somehow_ still able to fuse as Vegita magically gains an extra foot in height or so to more closely match Goku.
His hair brings him up to about 5’5, 4 inches shorter than Goku, which should be close enough for fusion
There's only a canonical 3 inch difference between the two of them, plus you see that Goku does actual bend lower to match Vegeta.
You do realize you are referencing the fusion dance not potara right? Only the fusion dance has height and power requirements for success on top of the poses. Potara literally just needs the earrings on the proper ears. Vegito who you referenced is a potara fusion hence why I say any of this

The thing I am most salty about is that Dende still looks like he did on Namek. He even looked like a teenager at the start of the Buu saga, and then his design reverted?????
No he didn't, he barely grew by the Buu Saga and you could say that there was already an inconsistency with him. Piccolo's height skyrocketed in 3 years. Dende by the Cell Saga, 3 years after Frieza, is still small, then 7 years later into the Buu Saga, he barely grew. He only looked like a teenager by the end of Z, which now we've gotten to that height with him in Superhero.
Namekian aging is all over the place. Dende still looks like a kid after like 10 years but Piccolo grew from an infant to adult in 3 years. Then all of King Piccolo other children hatched as full grown adults and were never babies at all. Even if the warrior clan ages faster to maturity than the dragon clan..Piccolo Jr's other siblings were all also warrior clan so why were they born full grown where Jr was born as a baby.

I think the reason is because of gohan, in every arc gohan always had a change to his appearance even if it was as small as a hair style change. But with goten and trunks they don’t even change in design at all.
And there's the iconic vegeta growing suddenly, this people is why it's good to keep consistent character sheets

I feel like this is just understood in other animated shows. Teen titans go, the ben 10 reboot. Super’s art style made everyone look younger

Someone just decided that Trunks being short was unacceptable because they liked his design in the history of trunks and everyone ran with it. If the show was in the Z style he’d look the same and goten wouldve been taller and more muscular

Well pilaf and mai and whatever the heck the dog's name is used the dragonballs and based on their new age we can assume they most likely used the dragon balls before the Android ark considering that the timelines deferred during the Android ark

It is set in 780, around the time Bra is born and the ToP takes place, and F Trunks is taller than P Trunks at that time.

Goku is also a full Saiyan, so it makes sense he'd have a bigger more sudden growth spurt. Whereas the Earthling DNA seems to make these growth spurts not as drastic, as we clearly see by both Gohan and Future Trunks who both had pre-teen/teen forms.
One theory I have seen is the whole "times of war" concept. The idea that during times of harsh conflict a Saiyan will sprout sooner (ala, Future Trunks) whereas during times of peace they will age normally (ala, Present Trunks).
I do like this theory, but I think the real answer is they just didn't realize how old they both were 🤷♂️

The thing is really inconsistent when it comes to Gohan and future trunks. Even with the explanation from the super hero movie, it’s still inconsistent . If those two were growing normally, why not goten and trunks? This is because those two are not as prominent as Gohan and trunks were in Z . This is the honest truth. They dropped the ball on them in Super and made them background characters with no change until the movie came and made up that explanation just as they finally become part of a plot.
Ya I felt that way. He still had kid proportions but he definitely looked bigger. Proportionally at least.

My head canon is that the reason Future Trunks was taller than normal Trunks at 14 is because future Trunks was forced to grow due to how his situation was while current Trunks lived a mostly peaceful life and didn't need to grow up

My theory is Saiyans, like humans, grow differently compared to one another. But all Saiyans stop at some point just to get that growth spurt. Gohan grew to his height during the Cell games than quickly grew to his Boo Saga height. Goku grew up a little, than quickly grew to his adult height we see at the end of Dragon Ball.
If you read one of the manga’s they actually say that saiyans starts to grow when there 13-15

I'm watching DBZ from start to finish and I've noticed Gohan changes ALOT yeah it's subtle but you can tell he changed from the Frieza ark to the android ark, while Goten and Trunks haven't really changed since they where introduced in the Buu ark
